  1. I had a beautiful, all original (photo shows an East EQ, but I put the originl back in soon after) 1970 fretless Precision for a while. Why on earth I sold it I'll never know I liked it so much I had Sandberg make me a fretted "hardcore aged" VT5 to go with it. Sold that too....
  2. Mine works perfectly. If you like it, just send it back and get a replacement. @Ashdown Engineering are probably running on reduced staffing due to Covid, as their service reputation is top notch.
  3. I know a couple of German guys who have been doing these gigs. They said they were pretty hesitant at first, but now they're actually quite enjoy the experience. Could be thy're just gald to get out and play, of course....
  4. I think you should figure to add 20-25% to the shipped price you pay, to account for import duty and VAT.
  5. One set of very lightly used La Bella White Nylons. Standard gauge: 60/70/94/115/134 (sounds very heavy, but they are actually low tension) Extra Long: 38" from ball to silk Silks are hardly worn, and the strings have less than an hour playing time. A new set is £52 plus postage from Bass Direct, so this is a good price on nearly new strings.
  6. Latest lockdown treat - Ashdown Tone Pocket headphone amp!

One is to charge it with the supplied 10v power supply, the other is for an optional power supply such as an in-car charger. It also charges via USB

I love mine but I also have problems with the rechargeable battery. I only get around 45mins. Seems like it only needs about 20mins to charge before the green light goes out. Tried both 10v and usb.

re your question about charging, the green light goes out after 30 mins or so. This is a fast charge only and  will give you the 45mins or so that you are getting. A full charge with the charger takes about 10 hours according to Ashdown. Hope that helps.

  7. Where in E Sussex are you?
  8. How did you get on @stewblack?
  9. Sold a set of strings to Julian in one of the most relaxed transactions ever. Absolutely first class throughout the process, and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
  10. Quick checks: Take the offending string off and reinstall it. Try a piece of paper under the nut (although I have played plenty of fretless basses that have the nut flush to the fingerboard and are fine) Raise the saddle height to see if you can get it to play clean. It may only need a very small lift to clean it up. Check the fingerboard is smooth under the string (i.e. no string marks, nicks, slight bumps etc.) How straight is the neck? I find a very small amount of relief (say .25mm at the 9th fret when you press down at the first and last "fret") is enough to let the strings breathe. Good luck!
  11. I had an 800 and currently own a 250. Original series with the Millerizer rather than the para EQ on the second channel. I think it's a fantastic head. As fretmesiter says, the EQ points are much more usable than the Little Mark and I think it's a great amp for live use. I regretted selling mine so bought a 250 that was going cheap as a backup to my main amps. I was really pleased to get one again.
  12. These are great cabs.
  13. That is pretty darn good. And here's another one of those US School of Rock performances that is a little less polished but still impressive, although I somehow doubt very much that the kids picked this song.
  14. PRICE DROP TO £23 per set Developed for Chicago Music Exchange by La Bella. Pure nickel roundwound wrap on a hex core. No silks at either end. 37" winding length Tension I would say is medium Tone is classic nickel: warm, with sweet highs. Feel is wonderful; they are so smooth your fingers fly over them with much less squeak than normal rounds. New and unopened, I have three of the 45-130 sets available.
  15. NOW £23 POSTED Pure nickel roundwound on steel. Slightly heavier E and B strings (45/65/85/110/140) BNIB (bag has been cut open to measure the strings, which are 37" ball to taper) Postage 2nd class recorded in included.
  16. Brand new in the packet. GHS Precision Flats 45-126. Mediumish tension (for a flat). These were sent in error: I ordered the extra long set but received the regular scale length version. The low B is 37" long ball end to silk. The other strings are all around 37.5". I thought I'd offer them here first before trying to sort a return. £35 posted in the UK. Thanks Gareth
  17. I like them. Funnily enough I just received a set from Bax. Ordered Super Long Plus, but they sent the regular Long Scale
  18. Me too. Use this as a guide and then adjust to taste. String action gauges like these are really useful!
  19. I know! And this article in Bass Gear Mag shows "flat" as different again.
  20. Interesting, I was told mids to the max, treble and bass at 9pm, with mid and bright switches down and bass switch up.
  21. That is an unusually click-baity image for Basstheworld.
  22. I bought a Spectraflex cable in 1989 that's still going strong! The rest of my cables are OBBM, although I have dabbled with Custom Lynx and Ultimate Pro Audio on eBay recently with good success.
