  1. I have played P basses pretty much exclusively for the last couple of years, and haven't thought I'd want to try anything else. I mean, I have a 4001 which I love the look of, but whenever it's rehearsal or gig time I reach for the P. To the extent that I think I may be looking for a good home for that one, but that's another story. Anyway, yesterday I reluctantly sold my Fender Bassman head, and the guy who bought it brought his Jazz to try it out. I've never had much of a thing for Jazzes, but I really liked the sounds coming from his. Plus the fingerboard inlays and binding looked very cool indeed. So now I have Jazz GAS. I will be trawling through threads on P vs J basses, trying out loads to work out which one I want, then obsessively watching them on here and the 'bay until the GAS either goes away or is sated.
  2. Having just acquired a TH350 I can vouch for how amazing these heads sound! I was incredibly impressed by the tone, and am seriously thinking about shifting my Fender Bassman 100 as a result... Good luck with the sale! This is a great price for one of these, too.
  3. This one is still available! What better way to celebrate Murray's historic Wimbledon victory than with a new amp? Ready to ship tomorrow. Courier should be around £15 if needed.
  4. Several expressions of interest in this ever-popular bad boy, but nothing concrete yet. Friday bump!
  5. By "decent sized venues" I mean large pubs / clubs rather than Manchester Arena btw.
  6. I have never needed to have the master volume above 3 either through my Barefaced cab or the Matamp 2x12 I had before that. Whether you want a clean sound or a bit of grit it would cope with decent sized venues no problem.
  7. Hi there, I've recently downsized my pedal collection quite a lot, and a tuner and Sansamp VT Bass look a little lonely on this pedalboard which could comfortably fit a dozen or so Boss sized pedals on it. It's about 18 months old and is in good nick. Here's a stock picture, but I can post proper ones tonight. Looking for £45 collected, or add a tenner for posted. In terms of collection - West Yorks is good, but I travel to Manchester and also up and down to Bedfordshire quite a lot so can potentially meet up along the M62 or M1. Cheers, Dan
  8. Hi all, Need to free up some funds to enable me to redo the kitchen (rock n roll!) so I'm offering this up for sale. I mainly use my Fender Bassman head anyway. I got this for more convenience at gigs but we're not doing any at the moment. I think everyone knows everything about this head so I won't go on too much about it. I had the stock valves replaced by Dave at Rosewell Amps to give more clean headroom and a gentler breakup, although you can still get that full-on crunch when you drive the gain. I have the original valves it came with when I bought it and these will be included in the sale, together with a speakon-speakon connector. Here's a pic to start with although I can add more if need be.
  9. I picked up a 4 month old Fender Rumble 15 from eBay for £31 last month. I used to have an Orange Crush 35 and this is smaller, lighter, and with a much nicer tone. Definitely spot on for home practice.
  10. Sorry for not amending the title sooner.
  11. Went to see My Bloody Valentine last night, and amongst the basses used by Deb was a beautiful electric blue metallic one which looked from a distance not unlike a Fender Jag, but I don't think it was. Was anyone from here at the gig and if so can they shed any light on it? Will try and find a pic.
  12. I'm amazed this is still here. If I didn't already have two P's and an angry breadknife this would be mine.
  13. This is very much still available, The Dark Lord! I would normally be tempted by a trade, but I've just added a second P bass to the collection, and this one's being moved on to make room... The missus would go berserk...
  14. I feel like building a bass from bits now...
  15. I'm really pleased I did this. I don't know why I was so frightened before. Very happy with the outcome.
  16. Okay, so I took the neck off, adjusted the truss rod, put the neck back on, applying a bit of pressure to push it back into alignment. Result? Strings aligned, action nice and low. Plays just like my other P now. Panic over.
  17. Thanks for the views. I think I will see what my tech can do with it - he's a bit of a magician when it comes to this sort of thing. It's not like it's unplayable or anything. If I do decide to return it for exchange - do you know if there's a time limit on this?
