5. I'm trying to see if any stores in the North are getting these in. PMT and Dawsons in Leeds are both a "no" unless I want to order (and pay) for one. Anyone done any sleuthing to see if their friendly neighbourhood Fender dealer is going to stock 'em?
6. Hey, Fender! Are you getting this feedback? How's about sharpening your pencil on the price? *lives in hope*
7. There is a 4x10 and a 6x10 as well as the 8x10. And I don't think the cloth is roadworn - I think that's seeing through to the back. If you see the pictures from the link at the top of the page you'll see what I mean.
8. I completely agree. I think it's priced like that because there's no direct competition with those sorts of features. Not sure I can wait a few years till used ones start popping up...
9. They do, don't they? And switchable between 2, 4, and 8 ohms gives you all the flexibility on cabs you could possibly want. *drools*
10. Some pics, as that page is a bit of a nightmare... As I say, yum. Just a shame the price point is too high for me right now.
11. Have you guys seen this? http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/bassmanpro/ I have to confess to being very excited by these new amps. I love that the 100w version has the ability to switch down to 25w output for studio work. I think there's a gap in the market at the moment for a 100w bass valve amp (or am I missing something?) as most heads seem to be much more powerful. This can be a bit much for those of us playing pubs and bars etc. I had a VBA 400 until recently which I reluctantly got rid of as it had so much more headroom than I needed and was an absolute beast to carry about. I reckon the Bassman 100T would be right up my street. Lighter, great looks, nice dirty channel, and versatile for the studio. Only downside - I don't really want to spend £1500... What do you guys think? I can't wait till used ones of these start hitting ebay...
12. Just done a trade with Rich on a VBA400 for an Orange TB500. Great guy to deal with - brilliant comms and even let me tinker with a couple of prize specimens from his bass collection! Thanks, fella! Dan
13. Are speakon connectors for amps and cabs all the same? And are they all 2 pole or 4 pole? I have a speakon to jack which I got with my head, but I'm changing it and I need to get speakon to speakon but I can see there are different types and I'm not sure which mine is. Thank you!
14. Have managed to add one picture, I have some more but the uploader seems to be unwilling to add them, so message me if you want them. Thanks, Dan
15. Hi all, Have had this for about 8 months although it is older than that (I got it second hand so I don't know exactly how old) and it is awesome - fantastic tone and immense power. It gave me precisely the tone I had in my head as soon as I plugged in. The only reason I'm looking to sell is that I have had to reluctantly admit to myself that it's too powerful for my needs (small pub gigs etc). I recently had it serviced by Dave at Rosewell Amps and he replaced three valves in the pre-amp stage, although the power amp valves were fine. It comes with a flight case which is a little beaten up but still provides excellent protection. Looking for £550 for a quick sale, or trade for a Orange Bass Terror plus some cash. Will post some pictures tonight after practice. Ideally it's collection only - I live in Leeds. Could look to deliver if you're not too far away, or potentially a courier at your expense and risk etc although it will be fully protected by the flight case etc. Any questions let me know! 16. Hi there, Have trawled through this thread and can't find any recommendations for a good valve amp person in Leeds / West Yorks. Any one used anyone here they can let me know about? Cheers!
17. Hi there, Is this still up for sale? Cheers, Dan
18. That's what I thought and is very reassuring! Thanks for the help.
19. Hi, Am i right in thinking i could potentially run any 4ohm 4x10 cab with a VBA400, (assuming the cab is rated at 400w or more) or will the amp overpower it, or be damaged by the cab? Marshall make a big deal about their 4x12 and 8x10 cabs being specially engineered to manage the power output of the VBA400 - is this true or is it a bit of marketing spiel? Appreciate your help!
20. I have to say that's a wonderful picture. Absolutely superb.
21. thanks for the reassurance! will try out those thomasltik jazz flats... never used flats before. as it currently has 45-105 roundwounds on it i'm guessing i'll need to get the neck and saddles adjusted for the revised string tension?
22. Regarding bridges, what was said about being able to slip a sheet of paper under the back of them has made me very nervous. My '81 4001 has about a 1.5mm lift at the back of the bridge. It's solid as a rock and stays in tune etc no problem but is this something I should be looking to get fixed or is this just how they are? I'm a bit panicky now... On topic, however, I can say I love my 4001 enormously. The tone is absolutely unrivalled by anything else I have played and suits my pick style perfectly. I agree the ergonomics are not to everyone's taste but for me they're not a problem. Lovely low action and great Ric growl. As everyone else has said, you need to try one out properly to see how you'll get on with one, but I think you may well fall in love...
