1. These are great basses for the buck. German Warwick, no nonsense, reliable bass. Surprisingly versatile too, with coil tap on the volume knob. I used one for ages, still had a bit of growl to it, never had a problem with it. Wish I'd kept it.
 2.
Some are cheaper, some more expensive. Innovation strings (inc Honeys), made in UK, are cheaper over here. www.soundpost.co.uk sell them about as cheap as anywhere.
Thanks Paul. After I posted this, I thought "this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question really"... John
 3. Bass player wanted as above. The band is an 8 piece established function band, playing a good range of covers for weddings/parties. 100 notes each per gig. Would ideally suit someone who fancies a bit of weekend gigging (once/twice a month) and regular once a week rehearsals. Enthusiasm and GSOH a must! Unfortunately the bands in my signature are getting too busy for me to commit to these guys, so am looking for my replacement. Feel free to PM me.
 4. I'm off to the states for a week, beg June. Whilst I'm there I usually load up with some DR fat beams for my electric basses as they are half the price. Never bought upright strings in US before, being fairly new to gigging with DB. I thought it might be an opportunity to buy a set or two that are either exclusive to the US, or are cheaper over there. For reference I play pizz Jazz, with a bit of occasional "bounce" but no slap. At the moment I'm using the same strings that came on both uprights (EUB/Acoustic). Steels, fairly taught and low action is how I'd best describe them. Quite fancy some Innovation Honeys, but can't find them on any US web sites so far. Any recommendations from the experienced upright fraternity plz would be welcomed. cheers, John

 8.
Exactly. When she said "pro singer" was she referring to her preference of sewing machine?
Or a hooker that sings???
 9.
It's nothing specific to music. Loads of people speak with authority on things they know absolutely nothing about. God knows why, and I wish they'd stop!
Quite agree! And as someone who knows nothing, I speak with great authority all the time!
 10. Got this rack bag when I ordered a 2U, but the shop sent a 4U instead as they were out of stock. My LMII looks silly in this, so am getting rid! It is 1 week old, has not been out of the house and has had my LMII in it for 1 hour. It is in it's original box. Collection welcome in Dorset, or will post at cost. john pics to come, but this is what it is. 15. I think that "feedback, or a critique" should only be given if asked for. And I also believe in asking for critique, but only from those who's opinion I trust. Unsolicited opinions (positive or negative) have no substance if you don't know someone's motives. That's my opinion, which you didn't ask for, and therefore can dismiss it as a load of ol' crap....I know I would.
 16. Yup, Will bought a scratchplate and paid quickly, good communications throughout. Thanks Will, John
 17.
Most bands I go to see I can't hear the bass player anyway. They could be making balloon animals and it would sound just the same.
You've seen me play then...! Great giraffe no?
 18. Hi, just a quick bump in case any Dorseteers have missed this. Also if anyone fancies lending me a hand on the day, it would be appreciated. Cheers, John

 20.
Hi, Do you know if this is for a mexican or USA fender? A picture would be great if you have one also. Thanks very much Rich
Hi Rich, I'll take some pics later. Came off a Squire if that helps?
 21.
Is this still available??
Nah, sorry it's mine, with nice tortie pick-guard
 22.
I've got nothing on that day, are you still interested in some sort of trade stand from a (semi) local music shop?
That'd be great Dom. If there's anything that could be "donated" for a basschat fund-raiser raffle even better! I'll try and get to the acoustic night before then to say hi. John
 23. Fats Waller, George Shearing, Django, Hoagy Carmichael......
