1.
Shame a flawed bass got passed on to another buyer too. Why not take it back to the shop? Or was it a design flaw?
xilddx it was the latter, but one of those both the distributor in uk and the manufacturer would choose never to admit. which is why I don't effing WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT OK??
  2. Couldn't possibly say without starting a major slandering match which I can do without.
  3. I liked my bongo 5hhp for the short time I had it before realizing a major flaw it had, not sure if it was common to all bongos but I couldn't be arsed to investigate further and instead I soon lost interest and shifted it as fast as it came
  4. I like solid colours as well as sunburst, but I do admit sunburst looks better with maple fingerboards imho

  6.
A good looking bass for sure - have you got it yet? Play ok?
Hasn't arrived yet, I've only just bought it yesterday, the dealer said he has a return policy that in case of any obscure problems like a tussrod that won't work or a badly warped neck, he will issue a full refund once I return it to him. I'll report on it when I get and hopefully send a few more pics.
  7. This is a true blast from the past, I've found a very similar Ibanez Roadstar II P/J bass to the one I used to have 30+ years ago, it's all original and in pretty decent conditions for the age. (Oh and it was reasonably priced too) http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
  8. Well there is a definately tendence towards the MusicMan market, the truss rod wheel adjustment at the end of the neck has only ever been used by EBMM up to now... (now watch Gareth order one...) LOL I can't understand why they couldn't fit a tone control, you have 2 knobs one does a 5 position rotary pickup switch and the other volume but no feck'en tone!! Idjits!
  9.
whats up with the one in the corner? has it been naughty?
It can't be hanged coz... it's headless!
  10. It's a nice forum but I must say the software is a bag o'sh//////
  11. Hercules are very good, safe as houses, and if you get very clever fitting them up, you can hang them at different heights and spaces in between to obtain something like this:

    Ped!!!

Man this forum is getting slower by the day, opening a thread or a sub section means a "hang in there" wait everytime! What can be done to fix this? Before you ask I am on a 50mb broadband and every other forum or website it's a breeze without delays.

  14. By the way, I've always maintained that the Crafted In Japan and Made in Japan series are superb, I have recently tried an Aerodyne P with a Jazz pickup in the bridge and liked it a lot.
  15.
Nice to see the same old dreary quality control argument rearing its head again. My 83 & 84 p basses ooze quality. I'll give you that some stuff in the late 70s was poor but it's just ridiculous to claim that 20 years of Fenders were poor. Do you honestly think that professional players would have used Fenders throughout these decades if they had been of questionable quality? There has already been criticism of the OP making generalisations but it works both ways.
I agree with you actually, my post was badly written. When I meant periods of ups and down, I didn't express myself properly infact I should have said that in that period of time their quality has been up and down and not that it was ALL bad, but the Fender Special series (the active ones in lake placid blue and candy apple red, remember them?) that came out in 1983 I remember that they were pretty bad.
  16. I believe Fender have gone through various periods of ups and downs, generally speaking, their qc has been all over the place from the late 70's and failed to impress during the 80's-90's however, in the year 2000 something must have imploded in their head offices, their Big Cheeses must have hired new dedicated staff that allowed the "concept" back to the drawing board, and caused them to shake up the entire company ethic from the foundation up. I guess they must have reached a point where they were faced with the question "Do we go ahead and keep on manufacturing the same below average crap that no one will buy and lose business to the copycat market or are we going to come up with a product that will be both in line with the former glory years and at the same time be something that the punters will find to be of excellent quality sound and perfect for gigging. The American Standard series meant exactly that. I can't fault them, and I don't just buy a bass because of the name on the headstock, but being of a mature age and having known what a P bass was like all that time ago, when I first tried an AM Standard P I knew I was holding a fantastic piece of kit that I would buy without hesitation, now I have 2 of them a P and a J and I have the Fender gas fully under control until something better comes along...
  17. It would be interesting to see if it is possible to just remove that bridge and fit a Badass 2 on that, has anyone lifted one to see what lurks underneath, like silly open cavities or other? At the end of the day lets face it, ugly or not that is the cheaper you'll ever get to get a very decent Stingray tone without paying the Ernie's balls prices.

  19.
Guy seems pleased with it. The object of the exercise is probably more about putting a bass that will be used in the hands of a high-profile endorsee, showing that the custom shop can deal with off the wall ideas, and getting talked rather about than shifting vast numbers of this particular bass.
I totally agree. However Warwick are showing that they are not afraid to "explore" and certainly willing to encourage ideas from mainstream pro's like Guy Pratt, although when I read Guy Pratt custom bass I imagined that it came with a straw connected to a backpack bladder containing 100% proof wiskey like a cyclist "camelback" lol!!! Anyway, it seems to me like a great idea, and I am sure if Warwick uses their brain they can build a panel with 2 trails where the pickups are sliding over that would cover the offending looking hole. I dig it, specially the sounds that came out of it were indeed captivating. Half @rsed idea but they got something there for sure.

  22.
Great comments, everyone: I see the value in all of them. I myself especially agree with EssentialTension's (both in his positive and his negative comments). Be that as it may, I won't be drinking beer for a while (I prefer wine, anyhow, and what a wonderful off-topic this can be)! That is to say that this wonderful bass has a new home in Italy (40th birthday gift to myself). And, yes, it is a dream (IMHO, the sound does match the looks: they are both incredible)! It's been said that we're all different (and I couldn't agree more, thank goodness): to me, this is THE electric bass. Doesn't mean it's perfect or there's nothing I would change. However, even so, this is THE electric bass. Period. Thank you Mark Stickley for being so helpful and courteous! ... and thank you Dennis Galuszka for ... you know ... building this beauty! Ciao, all. Pier PS. Please don't classify this post of mine under "bragging" but, rather, under "happy and in a mood to share this" :-)
