1. I wanted this...then I didn't...sorry for the timewasting! Or: bump
 2. How come I keep agreeing with Mr Fisher?
 3.
+1 You never hear a doctor ask 'do you have a stethoscope I could borrow'...
Not a great analogy. OK, if someone just turns up without the right gear because they can't be arsed they're going to have to ask very nicely. But where there's four bands on a tiny stage with 3 minutes changeover surely a bit of sharing is sensible? But no, never if they just assume.
 4. This has been covered a few times; the only thing everyone agreed was:
one thing I dont like is when bands turn up expecting to use your backline, that annoys me, contact and ask - manners cost nothing!
5.
You mean she's a BOBFOC?
I'd say more MILFO.
 6.
Too much! He ballsed up the intro - but laughs it off.
Seeing this on TOTP, age 13, was what made me want to be a bass player!
 7. Slusar Name Meaning Ukrainian and Jewish (from Ukraine): occupational name from Ukrainian slyusar ‘locksmith’. 'Rob' and 'locksmith', now surely there's inspiration for something there?
 8.
Bob Sluzarre. Now that's cool.
It really is. And how nice to see you(r avatar) again, Mr Freak

 10. What's your real name, and we'll tell you if it's cool enough to be the name for your project. Otherwise make one up. The Stoney Rockford All Stars.

 14. I'm contemplating starting a thread 'Jamerson: If He Were Alive Today He'd Be Getting Lessons From Flea'. Just to distract from the Beatles thread (and ths one).
 15.
My theory is that the engineers are mixing with hi end monitors that can handle very low frequencies easily. But most hi fi speakers, that the track will be listened to at home, can't reproduce those lows. There was a time when studios had a speakers set up to replicate the 'home hi fi experience' and if the track didn't sound good on those it was remixed until it did.
It's essential to use monitors that handle very low frequencies, just so you know what's there. Mixing on limited low-end speakers you're actually more likely to get swampy bass when you play back on a real-world system. An experienced engineer will know what his hi-end monitors sound like, and will know which sounds translate well to ordinary speakers. Having mid-range speakers as a reference is still worthwhile, though, I'm surprised you think this is a thing of the past. Bigredx and 5imon will be here any second now... (edited for appalling grammar)
 16.
That confirms to me what a complete f***wit you are
Fail. And change your name.
 17.
I'd like to think that every creative musician here on Basschat could do the same given those kinds of resources, inspirations and stimulations.
Every one of us here could be bigger than Jesus! Job opportunity then, given that His HR manager has just quit.
 18. I can't see them...can see the pics in the other refin thread tho.
 19. I had to do the same to my SVP (among others, including about 100 assorted pots and jacks on my A&H mixer). Board-mounted controls and connectors are really prone to this.
 20.
Sorry, but I think that post is almost on a par with: I could play "Stairway To Heaven" when I was 12. Jimmy Page didn't actually write it until he was 22. I think that says quite a lot.
Yeah, but the Terrortones go up to 11!
 21.
But give me and 3 of my musically inclined friends virtually unlimited studio time in a state of the art facility. Give us a sympathetic producer and a team of engineers ready to pander to our every sonic whim. Feed us a diet of previously unheard music and the occasional mind-altering drugs, and then outside of the studio surround us with the cream of innovative artists spanning the whole spectrum of creative endeavour, and I'm sure that we could come up with a series of albums every bit as varied and interesting as anything the Beatles did.
Now there's a thrown-down-gauntlet! If everyone on BC chipped in a tenner, we could make it happen :-)
