I have a H&S Sequoia 6 string fretless which I'm actually thinking about selling. Dood, good point I've tried using a bow before... wasn't too keen on the idea I swapped out the stock Sovtek valve for a Groove Tubes GT12AX7-m... it sounds the sex I've got some home recording equipment so I'm actually thinking about buying a pair of studio monitors instead of using my PC speakers, and getting that Behringer 2 channel tube compressor...

And I really feel like doing something with it... only around £150. I like the idea of having some kind of compressor. Any good rackmounted tube compressor/preamps in this price range? The EBS Multicomp pedal has also caught my eye again. Wireless doesn't really appeal to me... In-ears don't really appeal... I play in a band, and play solo. At the moment I have an Ashdown ABM300, Warwick 211pro, Yamaha TRB1006, a vampyre NT5 on the way, a Boss RC-50 loop station, Boss Tu-2 tuner. I also have a Marshall Jackhammer, and Ashdown Drive Plus but don't use them because they are both pretty crummy. Any ideas anyone?

With the RC-50 you have left + right main out and left + right sub out.... you could assign the guide (drumbeat/hi-hat/congas) to just the sub outs, send those to a headphone amp and hand the headphones to the drummer. Sorted

Pick a valve, any valve (provided it's the right type) pull the old one out, handle the new one with a cloth so your skin oils don't damage it, and insert. I've just stuck a Groove Tubes 12AX7-m in my ABM300, sounding much better than the stock Sovtek tube

Got the new tube in.... actually gives less overdrive than the stock one (it was a Sovtek) but sounds a bit more natural. I'm liking it

In response to Kurt, I'm putting in a Groove Tubes GT 12AX7-m! And Warwickhunt, I was told that oils from your skin can shorten the life of the valves. I don't particularly see why either, preamp valves don't get all that hot do they? No harm in doing so just to be sure though.

My new pre-amp tube should arrive tomorrow. Is it as simple as opening up the head (already done), pulling the old one out, and place the new one in (handling it with a cloth to avoid skin-oil transfer)? Cheers
