Ok... During the month in which I had the RC-20XL, I used it extensively for practise and gigs. There is no delay between the end of your 1st loop and play back. The RC50, however, does. This is because it quantises the three phrases together. There's a patch you can download to allow you to switch between rhythm priority (causing the delay on the 1st loop you record) or sound priority. With sound priority your loop will be flawless, but if you use a rhythm guide - it'll automatically revert to rhythm guide, because well...it needs to. www.myspace.com/kevcooke listen to Sky High on there www.isound.com/kev_cooke then on here. The recording on myspace was done using the RC-20XL and the recording on iSound with the RC50. The sound quality of the RC50 is significantly better. As for ease of use with the RC50, it's just a case of actually reading the manual, and practising with it for a while. It's got so many features, to expect to be able to just plug in and know where everything is and what it does is just unreasonable I think. Once YOU know what you're doing, it's quite easy to use.
2. Yeh the laws on hours is something to consider. Really though, people say money doesn't buy happiness... well it bloody does in my experience (most of the time anyway). As long as the job doesn't suck, money is money and get the gear you want man. It'll make you feel more like playing it and in the long run you'll have a good set up and +1 to who ever said it earlier: an hour of QUALITY practice everyday.
3. I wish I got into a part-time job when I was sixteen. I'm with Matt on this one!
4. One gig... our band did a kit share with another band. The bass player was gonna bring his Behringer full stack (including behringer head) but then asked if I could bring my ABM300 head for us both to use. I thought... fair play. They didn't have a very 'full' low end, and the higher frequencies sounded kinda like there was a blanket in front of the speakers. Wasn't impressed.
5. I have and use the RC-50. It's expensive, but that's because it's actually incredible. www.isound.com/kev_cooke All Along The Way (live) and, Sky High were both recorded/performed with the RC-50. The recordings of Sky High on my myspace was made using the RC20-XL (the difference in sound quality is night and day) and the recordings I Sit I Stare I Contemplate are both the same, also both done with the RC20-XL. I bought the RC-20XL initially, but was so impressed by the idea I was craving more possibilities. I took it back, full refund and cash on top to get the RC-50. Save yourself the time and just get the RC-50 ;-) The only other looper I would buy, if I really could afford to shell out, would be the looperlative.
6.
seriosuly, get a zoom 506Ii multi effects pedal. it has one of the best chromatic tuners iv ever tried, and tracks down to b just fine, plus if your brave enough to actually put it into your chain, youl have plenty of effects too! i only ever use mine for the tuner these days, with its mute function and everythin it never lets me down
I think the tuner sucks. I've had my intonation set before (and yes it was as close to perfect as can be), used our guitarists zoom multi effects to tune up...hit a chord and it was a touch out of tune. After getting hold of someone elses boss pedal tuner to quickly check, I tuned up and it was fine. I can't stand any of the effects either but that is a personal matter. I'm torn between buying a boss pedal tuner or a peterson strobostomp2...
7. Little over a year old, no damage - £115 If you want pics, I can get some taken. The only reason for sale is that it doesn't give the sound I'm after. I'm located in Milton Keynes
