1. My family have always supported me, no matter what instrument I picked up. They haven't inspired me due to my parents never touching an instrument, but my grandfather played piano and I guess that was always a bit of inspiration. I guess a few years ago, I found that I'd love to play bass, this mysterious instrument that wasn't always talked about, and sometimes missed. I trained my ear slowly to listen out for the bass, turning from metal (with some barely audible stuff) to other rock, punk, funk, jazz. In terms of inspirational bass players, Mic Todd from Coheed and Cambria is definitely one. As for others, they change in order of what music I'm currently listening to.
2.
Spelt is a carbohydrate crop. Spelled wrongly. Corrected "if you're a bit tapioca"
But seriously, good points you made in your previous post. We support the rest of the band and drive it, I don't need recognition for something I know I do quite well. Your band appreciates you and you could be inspiring some people in the audience to play bass in the future. It's happened with quite a few of us I imagine.
3. Hey Shaun, fancy seeing you here. If I still lived up your way, I'd love to do this. Hope you find someone soon Carl W
4.
Sorry merello, but I blame Basschat. Previous to joining, I'd owned the same 3 basses for about the past 12-16 years. however since joining I have the urge to jump from one to another like a cat on a hot tin roof! My missus groans everytime she see's me on basschat now! Anyway there's nothing wrong with Jazzes... Kets
Absolutely not Congrats on the sale, I'm sure my Precision will be gone soon
5.
Howdy, This bass used to be mine, the body is a 1988/89 japaneese body with a 2009 brand new maple neck from a 50's re-issue mexican precision. The scratchplate was changed from the original white one too this black one but is a genuine fender part. All pickups, pots, hardware are from the 88/89 japan model. Superb lightweight body and the neck fits the pocket like a dream Hope this helps Regards Mark
Hi Mark, Thanks a lot for the details, very interesting! My bass built before I was born. Crikey. Carl
6. Don't tell me that now Marty! It's gone to a friend anyway, I guess.
7. Evening bump
8. I had one and it's a fantastic bass, best of luck with the sale Kets.
9. Sorry William, I don't. I tried to get in touch with the previous owner, but the owner before him actually removed the original neck and all the insignia and serial number with it.
10. Bump
11. More images added Bass now for sale, but if you have a tempting trade then PM me.
12. Just a heads up, this guy may be interested: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=77111
13.
What with all the Huey Lewis, Simply Red etc. stuff here I think I may have ended up in some rather bad parties with you lot in the '80s...
Haha, I have the same view. Some great basslines on the SR stuff though
14. Monday lunchtime bump.
15. A Fender Jazz. I've always GASed for one, and then I got a Precision kinda out of the blue. It's gorgeous but I needed versatility.
16. Hey there Mr. Euphoria, welcome!
17. In that case, welcome back. My cousin lives in Blackpool
18.
would you consider adding on for a jag bass?
Hi DP, sorry, Jags aren't really my thing - not digging the aethetics.
19. I haven't tried the Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive myself, but listened to a mate use it, he didn't seem to lose too much low end. The pedal is meant to mainly distort the midrange, adding some growl but leaving the bass relatively untouched. I think.
20. Yeah, he's a sound player and is quick, no doubt about it. I'm just a bit sick of these Steve Harris copycats. I'm not jealous or anything
21. A couple of years ago, in my old band, I used a crappy Hartke starter bass and an Ashdown EB 180W. Nowadays, I used a Fender Precision and the same amp :\ Does the job though
22. Bumpy
23. I think it's gorgeous, I just wish we didn't live so far away!
24.
interested in a very versatile epiphone t-bird with hardcase?
Sorry mate, not really in the market for a t-bird at the moment.
25. Thanks purple. I don't know the weight exactly but it feels a fair bit lighter than the Spector Legend I had.
