  1. It was toe curling when I left 6 years ago - really an odd place to work. I still managed 12 years.
  2. Even better that it’s back in the hands of musicians rather than Asset Managers or Clueless non-muso’s.
  3. https://www.getintothis.co.uk/2020/05/dawsons-music-saved-by-manchester-entrepreneur-from-going-out-of-business/ Great Local firm - an established MI retailer has salvaged the company and staff. Made up for all of my old colleagues.
  4. It was bass into sonic port - just to DI the bass into the camera/phone. No amp models or anything. An envelope filter was off an ME50B I have for rare occasions I want a reverb or volume pedal.
  5. We did a song in June last year - the bass pushes the tune - while it’s not an overly technical part, it’s one of those parts which if you lose the thread; you’re goosed...the rest of the band sat and watched me in the control room. Obviously in the spirit of “banter” etc, they filmed me and were gooning off to wind me up...nailed it in two takes. And not for mistakes - just so he had two takes. The guitarist (who’s now left) took 30 or so takes on a guitar part for the same song. I listen back now and feel my part is a bit robotic and “going through the motions”. in response to the OP - I was a huge Novoselic fan, I liked his gritty, rubbery bass sound. Lounge Act from Nevermind is still one of my favourite basslines. The isolated bass track makes very little or no sense without the other parts - the drum track and bassline sync together wonderfully - the Dave Grohl/Nevermind version much more than the “Bleach” sessions version.
  6. How exciting. I know where this is going.
  7. It means “personal Message” - there should be an inbox message for you 👍🏼
  8. I’ve posted an ad looking for a later 18v Mexican made version...I’ve bought 2 Japan ones this week...instead of waiting 😉
  9. Haha. I’ve bought 2 in a week - think it’s time @bassfan got one
  10. That looks mean as anything!
  11. Noted - will be revisiting this idea - and will compress more. I’ve not set the bass up yet - The pickups are seated more towards the treble strings...it arrived yesterday, I have bigger plans for it as it’s a bit ratty. That’s a whole other thread for another day.
  12. @dmccombe7 it was - I go through phases where I can’t find the time. It’s getting easier as the kids are more independent.
  13. Taken on board - think I should’ve repeated the first phrase of the “lead” part rather than trying to develop it in the same register as the slap riff. Again, this was purely an exercise in showing @bassfan that it sounded like a Marcus Miller. Annoyingly - the band love it... “we could use that” And I have sent 3 lovely ideas this week met with “meh”.
  14. Well. Yeah. Marcus Miller (Genuine Draft)
  15. Just put this in the “I hate slap” thread hahah. I blame Pinot Grigio - done at about 11.30 last night against all better judgement
  16. I’ve never been called tasteful before. Thanks 😂
  17. So last night...I was talking To @bassfan and we discussed if the Fender Marcus Miller sounded good with the stock Preamp and Pickups... I’m going to get shot for this - I made a recording of slap. I’m also trying to do a lockdown “Happy Birthday” message montage video (for my lad) using my phone - so while messing about with what’s what on iMovie...I did this. I’ve put my flame retardant suit on... And no, I know I’m really not in the same league as MM - a very vague impersonation.
  18. I don’t think it’s either. Nor worth more than £15...
  19. You’re welcome, takes a bit of trial and error with the sonic port - I have one which is so old and battered. The Apogee has a gain/volume in line so you can gauge it better. But - once you get the hang of it all, great fun to be had. Particularly with Garage Band.
  20. Bought This for my 70’s P. That’s now gone. Wanted to keep it for a future project...but something has landed in my lap and I want a refin done. I bought this from a lovely gent on here - he bought a 1966 precision with this on. He stands by the fact it’s a 1966 guard. It has an extra pot hole in it as the 66 was covered to P/J At some point in its life before the chap bought it. I had a feeling it could be a Fullerton 1980’s piece from the hallowed first AVRI run - but I have seen 60’s tort like this. It’s old looking, very 3D and has the wide bevel - look at Spitfire pickguards at about £250 before shipping...and Bravewood do this wide bevel - but only for their builds (and use a darker more modern tort) I bought it as a nice old tort guard - it’s between 38 and 54 years old. No warping. A little divot near the pickup position. £250 - offers invited - plus postage (it’s between two bits of ply) in the UK or collect in Manchester (M27 Postcode)
  21. Bought This for my 70’s P. That’s gone. Wanted to keep it for a future project...but something has landed in my lap and I want a refin done. Relic dark brown tort - looks very similar to USA standard type tort - not the nasty cheap “pizza Pavement” you get off eBay. £35 posted in the UK or collect in Manchester (M27 Postcode)
  22. What I like (love) about MK is the level of skill in other areas which Are completely ignored. And then he throws a filing cabinet down the stairs and makes me feel 12 again - Giddy, silly and excited to play bass. And then people slag him off and I chuckle along...all the meantime wanting to engage in a futile row ending in “yeah, but you’re a numpty so ner!”
