No. It’s staying. Various ideas come and go…the Spector works on some tracks and not others - so I’ll take both 😂

@sshorepunk has a beautiful caprice…must admit, it was that or the Spector I got from you…

424 has through body stringing too @Al Krow

Sorry - missed this. Reverse P makes everything a bit more “musicman” - it’s a very pokey bass, and if my Spector shifts, I’m keeping it.

Think the “2 series” seemed to nail what the 80’s bb’s we’re all about, straightforward and well made. The newer “3 series” have been made with fender fit pickups etc so just seem a bit less special to me. i think a revamped version of the 2’s with the fancy neck joint and little headstock change would’ve been better. But, what do I know…

Wouldnt touch that one with a barge pole to be fair…unless it was £150

I think the bb1600 is plenty to be worrying about.

The best outcome would be a big budget refinish in some lovely metallic paint 😂

Have seen this on a few White bb424/424x now - I wonder if it’s the type of paint used? My white 424 was flawless, but I’ve seen them with finish splits emanating from pickup screws and neck joints. weird - you see it a lot on the Japanese fender “foto flame” series and Shergold basses can be susceptible to it too.

So in a constant battle with myself for a yamaha bb which sounds more like a Spector, and a Spector which feels like a yamaha bb… I bought this from @Bunion a couple of weeks ago - admittedly on a whim, and it’s a stunner. It was an expensive experiment to see if the Spector LX i sorely missed would defeat the yamaha bb1600 I’ve chased for years. I thought the Spector had won. but… I’ve compared recordings, same room, same amp, same recording gear… And there’s something (to me) that means I can’t let the yamaha go. so. 2007 Euro lx 34” scale, amazing top. slight mark near the jack and a small mark at the side of the fingerboard (bass side, fret 4/5) neither of which upsets the Apple cart. cleaned, polished, restrung with Dunlop superbrights. schaller locks included. Spector gig bag (which is lush). £900 collected - exactly what I paid, but you get new strings and the Dean markleys which were on the bass when I got it. postage is an option at risk/cost. i in all honesty - I want to keep it, but I’ve got to balance the books, and I’ve got some studio time to pay for next month so…

Nice (and scarce) Japanese bb1600. Really don’t want to sell, but I can’t keep it just to say “oh I’ve got one of those…” Got to pay off some recent spending. Really lovely, high quality (like silly quality) passive p/j. Bass is very clean, played but loved - some tarnishing on got hardware but it’s 34/35 years old. Just a shade over 9lb will come in new high quality padded case, recently restrung with GHS boomers. Will come with a selection of gold yamaha spare bits (saddle springs/pickup surrounds). Plays perfectly, sounds wonderful. Listen to No Doubt’s “no doubt” and “tragic Kingdom” for how it sounds. Don't really want trades. Shipping’s an option at cost/risk. Rough guess £40/£50 insured in UK. Also selling a bb350f converted to fretted from the same era.
