  1. There was a bassist who subbed for me in a big band I’ve been playing with sometime back, he had this bass. It sounded fabulous (granted, this guy could play too)
  2. If I ever get in a fast punk band again, I’d get a longorn. Nothing that could rival it in pick&distortion realm.
  3. I had the Affinity H. I suggest trying before you buy, the pickup is very bassy, not much high end in it. Also some neck dive.
  4. Yeah, I use Fender Flats on everything when I need flats. They can be cut to shorter scale just fine too - people say it will destroy the flatwound strings but I've done this since 30+ years, never had any problem. I have one of the basses strung with a shortened 9050 ML set since 2005 and these strings will live longer than I will.
  5. In the meantime, my Guild Starfire is 1 year old now. This bass has been perfect so far: great finish, fretwork, electronics, comfort and sound! can’t think of anything to upgrade, apart from probably its thin plastic volume and tone knobs the photo is from 1 year ago just out of the box
  6. stripboards make the circuit understanding more difficult most of the time because of the weird routing imposed by the parallel strips.
  7. I’m very pleased with the result indeed, it looks much more upscale this way and plays great.
  8. This is the final boss transformation of my Bronco before I lended it to a friend’s daughter
  9. Yes but they didn't manage to align the strings to at least have the same distance between them
  10. So rare so even the picture isn't available
  11. This is totally an EB3 or Hofner size pickup, not designed for Fender long scale
  12. Look at the bridge, the string placement is ridiculous and this is their official marketing photo!!!
  13. Well, this is a personal opinion but none of the parallel options sounded well according to my ears
  14. Everything today has positive reviews at the launch, mostly by the "influencers" paid by the companies.
  15. You have two possibilities: 1) your series switch is putting the J in series with the P 2) its putting two halves of the P in series or parallel
