  1. Just to confirm this is essentially a jazz style bass in terms of dimensions but with the guts of a Stingray. Much like Fenders active Flea bass but nicer! And browner!
  2. A what? A Crews Maniac Sound Uncle! AKA a lovely hand-made in Japan Stingray killer. Crews Maniac Sound are a Japanese custom shop (think Atelier Z, Sadowsky Japan (RIP), Moon etc) that make a host of high-end instruments with strange names. This one is a very high quality build in a natural oil finish complete with SD Basslines pickup & preamp, Badass II bridge, lightweight tuners and a stunning Pau Ferro fretboard. As is often the case with oiled finishes, the bass is showing a fair bit of honest play wear. I had intended to get it refinished at some point but now need to move some basses on to pay for boring house stuff... If you like a genuine road-worn look, you're in luck! The bass comes with the original Crews branded flight case, tools, instructions and the never-fitted transparent pickguard and screws.
  3. Thanks chaps. They record pretty nicely too..
  4. My awesome sounding Acinonyx is up for grabs. It's in great condition, very light at 3kg and plays beautifully with the Slinky flatwound strings fitted. The neck and dark rosewood fretboard are exceptionally nice.. Some manufacturers blurb for the uninitiated - A short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches. Tone choices are available with a push of a button. Go “All In” by punching all of the buttons at once, which isputs the pickups in series mode resulting in a a loud, thick, and punchy tone. The 1 over 3 headstock may seem unusual, but it provides straight string pull while honouring the original aesthetic of the Goya Panther. •780mm scale (about 30.7”) •17mm spacing at bridge •1.4” wide nut •Alder body with Indian Rosewood fingerboard •Parchment and Tortoise pick guard options •2 propriety (of course - it’s what we do) single coil chrome cover pickups •4 push button pickup selector switches (including “all in” series mode) •4 tone selections including flat, traditional tone roll off, heavy tone roll of, and mid notch •Very light weight - averaging 6.5 pounds •2 way spoke wheel truss rod •Classic color options: Lake Placid Blue, Olympic White, Surf Green, Black, Dakota Red •Compound radius for excellent playability •Proprietary custom US Hipshot bridge •Proprietary custom licensed Hipshot oval tuning machines •All basses are inspected and set up in our Redlands, CA shop •Weight: 3kg/7lb History: Inspired by Juan Alderete, reimagined by Carey Nordstrand, the Acinonyx (genus for Cheetah) is a well thought out, modern reinterpretation of the Goya Panther. Carey sorted out the design flaws of the Goya with the problem solving prowess for which he is known. String pull, switch assignments sorted out, Carey developed this bass with ease of tone selection and overall playability in mind, but the ultimate goal is for the bass to be as fun to play as driving a race car. Features; Lightweight Alder body Maple neck, 1.4”/35.5mm nut width Rosewood f/b Custom Pickups Custom Hipshot Vintage bridge, 17mm string spacing Hipshot Licensed Lollipop tuners 4 way pickup selector switches - both, front, back, off 4 way tone switching
  5. Thanks Nik, I'm glad it's gone to a good home. Thanks for the compliment too, although I'm not sure it's deserved 😁 Regarding gear, I think everyone on Basschat has something once owned by me!
  6. I'd certainly be interested in an Ashdown Medium Pratt Bastard.

  8. Hi Nick, I can't seem to find a spec list for this model but the neck is quite slim, I'd say somewhere between a traditional Jazz and Precision. You're welcome to collect from Margate or i could box it up if you'd like to arrange a courier. Thanks, J
  9. It looks like you're safe, this is now on hold for another BCer 👍
  10. Mesa Big Block 750 up for grabs in fantastic condition. This amp has been in storage for a while and although it works well and sounds great, it has some scratchy pots/intermittent hiss so could really do with a service (hence the price). It comes with a twin button foot switch for engaging the overdrive channel and the mute function. Some bumf from Mesa; Answering your demands for a rig bad enough to anchor our Recto’s wall of gain, here is 750 watts of crushing fundamental. Pure and Mean. Simplicity rules this front panel. No high-tech overkill between you and fast, fat tone. Straight-ahead circuitry delivers instant attack with massive authority. Just the brutal, potent truth, served up with mighty attitude. Our exclusive Simul-State™ technology provides all-tube performance from Input jack right up to the dual MOSFET power blocks. A classic all-tube tone stack is augmented by an additional Active Mid with a sweepable Frequency control. This lets you zero in on the precise region of attack to let you drive the band where it needs to go. A footswitchable all-tube Overdrive, sporting its own dedicated Drive and Master controls, adds a menacing growl to your sound, sinking teeth into the mix. Twin fans cool the dual power blocks arrayed with no less than 12 custom matched MOS-FET output devices. Even these power units are directly driven by one of the 8 tube stages in the Big Block 750. This is Simul-State. Tight and focused, warm and musical. For convenience, Tuner outputs are provided front and rear. Rear panel features also include a series Effects Loop and a Slave Out with its own dedicated Level control. A balanced XLR Direct Out is switchable between Pre and Post and includes a separate Level control and Ground Lift. Quarter inch and Speak-On jacks deliver this massive horsepower to the cabinet(s) of your choice. The heritage of rock bass has been built on vacuum tube tone. The Big Block 750 elevates today’s bass performance while paying homage to that great tradition. Here is a menacing new amp that's infused with the percussion, warmth and feel of an all-tube classic while providing double or even triple the output power …and at a fraction of the weight. Big Block Torque Rules! 11. 2015 USA Fender P. This iteration preceded the American Professional series basses and a lot of people (me included) prefer them. They came with the Custom Shop pickup as standard and sound absolutely bang on. This one came to me with an exceptionally good setup. I had intended to replace the strings with my favourite flats but left it as-is. It sounds funky as hell! It comes with the plush original hard-shell case, and weighs just 8.5lbs 🙌
  12. Here's a nice demo of a very similar bass 👌
  13. Price drop to £1495 for a straight sale.
  14. Thanks Mark, needless to say that I agree!
  15. Suhr Classic J Pro up in great condition with original Suhr flight case. If you're a jazz bass fan then this is pretty much as good as it gets. Jazz's have been my mainstay over the years and I've had some very nice ones including Celinder, Moollon, Sadowsky, USA Lakland, all the Fenders etc. These have a reputation for being the best and it's not hard to see why. They take elements that people love about vintage basses and combine them with modern improvements and impeccable build quality. It's a lovely thing and I'll be sorry to see it go. The spec: Alder body Quarter sawn Maple neck with a vintage tint and satin finish Indian Rosewood fingerboard with 7.25" radius Stainless steel frets Clay face and side dots Hipshot Ultralite USA tuners Gotoh vintage bridge Classic J vintage single coil pickups Bakelite control knobs Original hardcase complete with spec sheet Weight 4kg/8.8lb
  16. Not as much as they used to go for. Much like non-class D bass gear!
  17. I'm no oficionado on 80s hair metal but if you want a thunderous thick sound with some tube bite and compression, then this is the kiddy.
