1. It seems to be functioning correctly now. Well for me it it, not that I really use it.
 2.
Slight derail, but I used to play the Anchor a fair bit back in the day, good times, never got paid, played a lot of originals, and followed Big Al from the Cult Maniax everywhere (though they were the Sweet Thangs by then). Must have run into each other at some point Marv.
We must of bumped into each other. I used to go to Sweet Thangs gigs religiously. I only ever saw the Cult Maniax when they became the Vibe Tribe. Did you attend the live performance given by Papa Brittel at the Anchor? It was truly superb. Bl00dy good times.
 3. http://www.911tabs.com/link/?7249488 Don't know how accurate this one is.
 4.
i think we need a shilling for the meter
We were only talking about put a shilling in the meter at work a few days ago. Although it used to 50p when I was little. I still remember the man from the leccy coming around and counting out all those coins. Kids today are missing out you know.
 5. But that still makes little difference to his argument. The size of a driver is, as Snicks pointed out, only a small factor in determining the sound. The fact that keyboards will go down to 27Hz is somewhat academic because you can't hear it. Personally I'd rather have what determines the qualities of a loudspeaker system explained by someone who makes them rather than just uses them. Having spent the last few weeks reading material on, and asking what seems like an infinite number of questions relating to drivers and loudspeakers, from those informed responses this guy comes across as a complete idiot.
 6. The search isn't working for I either. The site as a whole does seem to have been a little tetchy of late. Maybe it's just my computer but it seems to take an age sometimes for the server to connect, or whatever.
 7.
Balls. The tiny speakers in my ipod earphones produce an excellent bass sound. Frank.
Can I borrow them please? Mine create far to much upper mids.
 8.
Loudspeakers come as a system. Than means the drivers and the cabinet they are placed in, with all the compromises in port tuning, crossover design etc. Blandly saying big speakers are better without defining the precise context, is as idiotic as saying big paintings are better. Speaker size is just one minor component in the whole system mix. Edit: because I can.
Hence the fellow should be given his P45 and told to 'op it.
 9.
According to Jon Burton, The Prodigy's chief live sound engineer: The full article is in the October edition of Sound On Sound magazine and gives more details about his liberal use of 18-inch subs and, in case that's not quite enough, his use of triple 21-inch 'infra' subwoofers to handle the 15-50Hz frequencies. Might as well ditch my 2x10 cab then.
The bloke sounds a bit of an idiot. Most of the range between 15-50Hz you won't hear anyway so will make no difference to the 'sound'. It'll just make things shake, if you have the volume up enough. I'd also question what he means by a good bass sound. It's probably not what I'd be looking for, more and likely some inaudible muddy mess, like you get in most crappy clubs.
 10.
She also stole my mates' Rickenbacker
I've gone right off her now.
 11.
He's hilarious... I think he tours with Rog to keep him company, or something. He gets one solo a night, and although he's a great player, he usually just blows it by making a din. I like him a lot. See from 3:40-ish here:
Bloody tribute bands, can't stand them!
 12.
You can't see his dayglo orange Bermuda shoots and electric blue winkle-pickers from this photo, Marvin
I take it all back then. Anyone who wears electric blue footwear has the upmost taste in my book.
 13. On closer inspection I'd say that tie used to be sunburst and Wayne has attempted to chequer it. Always difficult on a moving target.
 14.
Andy Fairweather-Lowe? He's class, and very stylish.
Stylish! Wearing that tie?
 15.
Works better for me with a chrome bridge: But either way, not for me.
Would work even better in a dark room with the door shut. Not for me either.
 16.
Depends what you mean by "nice" - by her own admission, she sh*t on her boyfriend's cornflakes. Jon.
Oh dear! Not that nice then
 17.
He's garbage. Jaco was too, never got it...just noodling. Mer mer mer mer mer mer.
I like Garbage, the singer's really nice
 18.
Read 90% of the posts on this and have to say the only thing that made me sit up and take notice is silddx's 4lb 1oz Crucian Carp. Ergo, I play in a covers band (and enjoy it)
Size isn't everything.
 19. I own an Ibanez, but I wouldn't turn down a Yamaha.
 20.
I know loads of great and prolific songwriters in bands, who, if they chose to, could fill arenas and make a fortune. But, instead, they'd rather do Robbie Williams, U2 covers, and play The Dog & Duck once a fortnight for £50 Yeah, right!
What a small world! You know my mate Bill then?
 21. My playing is always challenging. It challenges others to figure out what the hell I'm up to, both in terms of rhythm and melody.
 22. I only 'play' bass and for me it's a hobby. I have no pretence of being an artist or in anyway creative, I simply like to play. I don't write any material of my own, never have never will so anything I play will be someone else's composition. Next week I've got a first practice with a potential new covers band. Why covers? Because it'll be fun. See what Rich posted. I'll vouch for what Dave Vader has said about Devon. The venues that used to book originals simply aren't there anymore, my old favourite was demolished some time ago (FWIW The Anchor in Westward Ho! - good times). The venues booking covers bands, I can't ever remember booking originals when I used to go to gigs to see for example these guys Cult Maniax, especially The Black Horse in Great Torrington
 23. Thanks for the tip on the You Tube clip Jennifer, it's a lot clearer. And thanks to the you all, it's going to thumping out root notes with maybe some embellishments in the chorus. Cheers EDIT: I've just been watching/listening to a few live clips and damn they were good.
 24. REM - And I Feel Fine - The Best of the IRS years. Probably the first band I really got into and have coloured my musical tastes ever since. I'm currently reminiscing .
 25.
It appears to be open to the public now. Think I will have a nose around.
Well, as long as you're over 18 and not of a nervous disposition.
