1. Jebus! So sorry dude, I'd be absolutely gutted if that happened. Best of luck
2. Fair point, but that seemed slightly agressive... unnecessary, dude.
3. And yes, +1 to Teen T shirt - having the bass higher up works wonders
4.
For this band i have needed to adopt a three finger plucking technique
As has been said before, I've been playing with three fingers (standard 3,2,1 plucking) for about 2 and a bit years now and while I was getting that down it hurt like HELL. Stick it out dude, it makes life soooo much easier in the long term And in reference to why you need three fingers, somehow I find it easier now, and also for faster stuff or little flangy type things it can add some nice colour to songs. Also found I can play for longer as I'm putting the stress accross three fingers rather than two.
5.
Ashdown do have good customer support IME.
Ashdown have pant-wettingly good customer support. Absolutely stellar in that department. I had an ABM rig for a while and had no reliability issues, it just wasn't the right tone for me As has already been said, go out and try the amps you're interested, apart from finding out which one you want it's also an excuse to play with some veeeeeery pretty gear and hello! Welcome to basschat
6. I've seen a couple of posts here recently talking about how "loud" valve amps are. I was kind of under the impression if you had, say, a solid state amp and a valve amp both rated at 300 watts or whatever that they would both put out more or less the same volume as they had the same wattage? Am I completely wrong here? Thanks for any help and (hopefully ) the lack of flaming
7. If this is still around after christmas I could be VEEEEERY interested . In the meantime, have a bump on me
8. What exactly is Mosfet, and why do some companies value it over tubes?! Argh I'm confused Any help appreciated!
9. *Comes to the defense of the SVT-3 lol* I'll be honest I sold my Ashdown rig for an Ampeg rig, so I'm going to be slightly biased here. I went from an ABM 500 EVO II + ABM115 +ABM410 to an SVT-3 Pro + SVT15E + SVT410HLE, and personally I'd take the ampeg tone over the ashdown any day of the week. The growl! Argh, love it! However, to be fair to Ashdown I never had any reliability issues, and I preferred the higher power rating on the Ashdown cabs. When it comes to the SVT-3 I don't think for a second it is underpowered, it's served me well at many gigs. Anyhoo back on the topic of tone, I feel the ampeg suits me better, especially for rock/metally stuff. However, it has performed admirably in jazz settings. The two brand's cabs have a biiiiig affect on the tone (to my ears) so maybe that was the reason I didn't like Ashdown...hmm, do you have the option of trying both out?
10. I could be very interested in the 2x10. You interested in just the cab going?
11. This could be interesting...in the end it's his bass. I'd be interested to see photos
12.
at least its not fallen from a wall hanger onto your multigym, snapping the neck and killing your gran in the process!!!! Dan
You speak from experience?
13. So there I was, happily jamming away on my 'ray to some CD's and the part of the nut roughly in line with my E string snaps off. What the hell just happened? I've babied it since I got it (from Presoulnation - awesome dude) and kept very good care of it, and now I can't use my E string... Is it something I've done (so I can ensure it doesn't happen again) or do these things just happen? I'm pretty gutted at the moment to be honest, I know it can be fixed easily but still...I like keeping my basses nice and healthy y'know? any help appreciated
14. Looking to put some wheels on my 1x15, anything I should know before I start merrily drilling into it? Cheers,

Kustom
The only relation between today's Kustom and that which came out of Chanute, Kansas three decades ago is the spelling of the name. It's all Asian now, mostly at the lower midrange of the quality scale. Roughly equivalent to lower end Peavey, for example.
Hmm, I'd disagree with you on that - my guitarist uses a Kustom 4x12 with his NYC Tech 21 head and it sounds absolutely awesome. However he did pay fair whack for it. Maybe there's a large difference in quality between lower end and higher end kustom cabs?
16. Hi there, Just done a quick search and it's yielded nowt, but is there a bass version of those little mini rigs you can attach to your belt? In this kind of vein: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/marshall-ms-2/309 Anyone seen one? Cheers, Ash
17. "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop always seems to get an awesome response from our shows... +1 to "All These Things I've Done" - goes down a storm as well.
18. +1 to what soulfinger said. I would buy one if it didn't have the bat on, I love the whole Pbass Black/tort/maple look. Also I got to play one of these at my local store, pretty damn tasty, i must say...
19. Bump for an awesome head - I absolutely love mine
20.
I use an SVT-3 Pro, which I also like despite its reputation as being under-powered. I believe Mr Hoppus also has a couple of them. Cheers Mark
+1 for an SVT-3 Pro, I absolutely love mine, and coupled with the 8 ohm version of the cab you're looking at I really can't see me changing anything about my set up for a very long time. However, if you get the opportunity to try it all out first, take it - some people hate the ampeg tone. Also I thought Mark Hoppus was an SVT-4 man? EDIT: Realised there was a comment that could have derailed the topic. Sorry!
21. that is AWESOME! Expect a very happy daughter come christmas day. She know she's getting this?
22.
Cunning Linguists? http://www.thelinguists.co.uk/
Ah balls, beaten to the punch. "Lingus" is just too close to "Linguists" eh? Baaaaack to the drawing board... On the other hand though they are playing their last gig soon...
