I have been using Steve for quite a while. He is absolutely excellent and very reasonably priced. Won't use any one else.

Borrowed some"Rhubarb and Custard" disposables from the drummer but couldn't get on with them. I find the Alpines great as they are very soft rubber and fit very comfortably. You get 3 attenuators with them and I find they really do work. They particularly cut out the harmful freqs. Stuart

Me too. shame the list wasn't brought over from Bass "whatever it was previously". There were a couple of good teachers in Manchester.

I had a 25 year break from playing and in my former life played guitar. Will hit 60 in 2 years and started seriously playing Bass 2 years ago and now hold down the bottom end in 2 bands. Have never enjoyed my self so much. (Retiring early may have helped )

Played guitar from about 13 and had a pretty good semi-pro career until my mid 20's. Marriage and kids saw that off. Had a massive sabatical, (25 years), and when I found the only guitar I had kept, (a Fender Jumbo), in the loft 1 day I started fiddling. Not having a pick to hand I started playing finger style and really got into Spanish and Clasical music. A letter to Guitar Magazine about a series on fingerstyle technique saw me get a free Bass, (the comment Am I really a frustrated Bass Player did it). That started Bass playing in earnest. I totally agree with NottsWarwick that the hardest part of the transition was "keeping it simple". I really struggled at first trying to play "lead" lines on Bass. Best piece of advice I got was "Whatever notes you are thinking of playing, halve them". If you cannot keep time and groove with the drummer, the band is f*!"ed. Would I go back to guitar, NOT A CHANCE. I've got the best job in the house. Stuart

Also supported The Who in the same era and Johhny Johnson & The Bandwagon. Also backed Edwin Starr on one gig.

I play in 2 bands and the Corporate one is now increasingly being asked for PAT Testing Certificates and Public Liability Insurance. Anyone else having the same issues? The Pub Band don't seem to have the same problem, (but as all my gear has been PAT tested it isn't a problem anyway). Would it be an idea for a pinned topic with a list of testers in areas around UK as I have a feeling it WILL end up being mandatory at some point? We had a hell of a job finding someone to our gear as most companies deal with large institutions and not a 5 piece band.
