2. Agree BA. Aria's are really underated. Funily enough it was an Aria pro-bass, (that I won), that got me into playing Bass. It's one I would never sell. Fantastic action, really slim neck and nice sound. Could be a real bargain for someone.
 3. It looks like the wrong jack socket to mount on the control plate. When i got the EMG's for my Jazz they supplied a pre-wired stereo jack to power the pick-ups. Looks like this giuy lost his and used whatever he could lay his hands on. Weird.
 4. Shouldn't this be in the e-bay posts?????
 5.
it is a shame we are so stuck to certain brands... MTD along with other less mainstream brands get ignored most of the time.
Totally agree. Just got back from rehearsals and I cannot believe the sound I get out of the MTD and that is without a pre. Mailed Mike Tobias about a suitable one and he advised on a Bartolini. I also have 2 Fenders, a bloody expensive Ibanez and have had a MusicMan pass through my hands. The MTD is easily the best Bass out of the lot and cost the least. You are right about the B String it is superb with the 35" scale. Only a Lakland I played came close but look at the price difference..... Hope you get a buyer as if not someone is really missing out.
 6.
Ppl, make me some offers (not including trades please)... I may be tempted... the end is near. HUMP-THE-BUMP
Bump for the MTD. I have got the next model up with the J/MM conbination and it is amazing. The 35" scale really does help the B string. MTD'd don't seem to be as popular as they could be. Probably because it doesn't have MusicMan/Fender/Lakland etc on the headstock. If someone buys this they will not be disappointed. Did you have any problems putting the pre-amp in, (enough room)? I am considering a Bart pre for mine. Stuart
 7. I have been using Steve for quite a while. He is absolutely excellent and very reasonably priced. Won't use any one else.

Lectures at Salford Uni and also does private lessons. Here are the contact details in case they get added to a pinned post. e-mail:[email protected] website: www.olliecollins.com mobile: 07971833961
 10.
Me too
Al, Yep, it's the onset of Old Age. At 58, I have the same problem. It takes an age to learn something and quite often have to rely on "crib-sheets" or a couple of gigs. +1 for get back to Sam & Dave, Otis, Wilson Pickett et al. We must have a chat about Liverpool Uni if our paths ever cross...... Stuart
 11. I have been using Alpine Music Safe ear plugs for a while http://www.enhancedlistening.co.uk/product...D=&P_ID=975 Came away from a gig one night and my ears were screaming. Borrowed some"Rhubarb and Custard" disposables from the drummer but couldn't get on with them. I find the Alpines great as they are very soft rubber and fit very comfortably. You get 3 attenuators with them and I find they really do work. They particularly cut out the harmful freqs. Stuart
 12.
as the title suggests its a bb605 nathan east body,2 j type hummers 3 band active eq gold hardware nice natural wood, dead nice to play and not been abused
Has it got the NE pre amp and what scale is it? Finally, what sort of price are you looking for?
 13. Me too. shame the list wasn't brought over from Bass "whatever it was previously". There were a couple of good teachers in Manchester.
 14.
I'd love to wife + kids + 20 years too late...say no
It's never too late. I had a 25 year break from playing and in my former life played guitar. Will hit 60 in 2 years and started seriously playing Bass 2 years ago and now hold down the bottom end in 2 bands. Have never enjoyed my self so much. (Retiring early may have helped )

 19.
Moondance is a wicked tune. I learnt it a while ago but have forgotten it since! Think I shall yoink this tab as well!
Think I have the Bass Tab as well if needed.
 20. No problem guys. Glad my "past" as a guitarist has helped. Don't spread it around or i'll be getting hate mail
 21.
Thanks Jennifer That may help me, I will try that. Thanks Dood I have a similar piece of software that will give the notation, but my sight reading is not quick enough, so I need to put the chords on and then I can wing it from there. I will apply Jennifers chords to the notation and see where that takes me. Thanks both Steve
Steve, Did a bit of digging and found this in my "guitar" tabs folder. Any use? 22.
With regard to the question of the transition between the two, teh hardest thing I found wasbeing disciplined and not too busy. The bassist needs to be solid and tidy, and cannot generally get away with widdling around, as we all know. C
Very similar to you NottsWarwick. Played guitar from about 13 and had a pretty good semi-pro career until my mid 20's. Marriage and kids saw that off. Had a massive sabatical, (25 years), and when I found the only guitar I had kept, (a Fender Jumbo), in the loft 1 day I started fiddling. Not having a pick to hand I started playing finger style and really got into Spanish and Clasical music. A letter to Guitar Magazine about a series on fingerstyle technique saw me get a free Bass, (the comment Am I really a frustrated Bass Player did it). That started Bass playing in earnest. I totally agree with NottsWarwick that the hardest part of the transition was "keeping it simple". I really struggled at first trying to play "lead" lines on Bass. Best piece of advice I got was "Whatever notes you are thinking of playing, halve them". If you cannot keep time and groove with the drummer, the band is f*!"ed. Would I go back to guitar, NOT A CHANCE. I've got the best job in the house. Stuart
