1. Finally finished. Taken an age, but i got there in the end and i'm very happy with the outcome. The Encore neck feels really chunky and solid (in a good way) and i really love the metallic red / metallic graphite colour combination. Once again i have to say how impressed i am with the work done by my local tech guy. He made and fitted a hand carved bone nut, strung her up and gave her a set-up, all for the princly sum of £15.50! Excellent work and service. There are only two small faults that i have picked up on, the first being that the gap between the outer strings and the edge of the fretboard is greater on one side than the other meaning that the strings don't pass exactly over the pick up pole pieces, but to be honest, i've seen this happen to a worse extent on a lot of factory produced basses, so i'm not overly bothered. The other thing is that now the bass has strings fitted, they make the headstock decal look a little pissed, but again, this isn't the end of the world, so no big deal. In answer to an earlier comment, i've added a pic to show the strings running straight to the tuning pegs as they would on a regular precision, not angled hockey stick style. Oh, and to save a load of time later, if anybody is interested as to whether fitting a left handed neck to a right hand body does actually help with tuning and string stability when drop tuning, i can honestly, hand on heart say, that i don't have a bloody clue! I'm not really into all the technical stuff, i just like messing around with basses and making stuff i that i think looks cool
2.
The link posted above (#1) now leads to a rather different listing, I suspect.
Yep, he's changed it. Originaly listed as Jazz pick-ups. Easy mistake to make for a professional pick up winder

5. ........and maybe a Hartke 4 x 10 cab to partner it up with..........
6. .....and an Ampeg PF 350........

8. This sort of thing really annoys me, so I would probably do exactly the same as you have. You paid for the instument as advertised and received something different, why should you be out of pocket? The seller should either make good the damage, or pay for you to do so, then take it up with parcel force.
9. Hi, can anybody tell me what the un-trimmed length of an Fender flatwound E string, and an un-trimmed Fender tapewound E string is please. Need to check if i can fit either of these to my righty precision with it's lefty neck.
10. Gotoh bridges are pretty good if you're after a high mass jobbie, or if you're after something more traditional, i've heard good things about the Wilkinson ones. As for strings, it's horses for courses. I personally like Fender's own brand flats, with a big plus being they can be bought in a multitude of guages for under £20 from strings direct. And if you need a new pickguard, have a word with Bass Doc on here, he will make you a new one in your choice of finish using the original as a template to give an exact fit.

13. Hi, someone with more authority than me will probably be along in a minute to tell you that you need to state a price if you're selling stuff. Just a heads up.

16. Another vote here for Kent Armstrong pick ups. Very good for the money IMHO.

Bought a power supply from Whizzzy. Exactly as discribed and super quick delivery. All in all a top fella to deal with.
18. Hi, don't take this as a complaint, just letting you know this for reference. I was receiving email notifacations for my pm's until a couple of days ago, but now i'm not. It's not a big deal for me as i come onto the site every day anyway, just thought you may want to know.
