1. From Sadowsky website : 'Sadowsky Metros are not "mass-produced factory basses" so they afford the player who does not require premium woods or custom options the opportunity to play a Sadowsky at a more attractive price point.' Even better if you can pick one up 2nd hand! I bought this one new direct from Sadowsky in April 2007. This is a great bass but I have just made a couple of purchases that mean that I need to move this one on. In really good condition. Lightweight Sadowsky case included in the sale. Controls are - Volume / Blend / VTC (vintage tone control) with push pull active passive / bass & treble boost stack knob Looking for cash sale rather than a trade thanks. Price - £980
2. Nice looking bass - love the green. I did look at this one closely myself when I saw it up for sale. Bet it will be a cracker. Neil.
3. I have issues 1 - 14 from 2003 and 2004 minus no5 for some reason (!) Free to a good home - although you will need to come and collect (or pay for postage). All copies in near perfect condition. I am in Derby. Regards Neil.
4.
Bugger... one of the heaviest basses I've ever owned! Didn't really notice it tooo much til I put it int he gig bag and carried it... WOW! Feels like it weighs twice as much as the Lakland JO. Still, it'll do 'til I get a nice light Sadowsky...
I think I'd maybe go for a tort or a black scratchguard on that one Steve.
5. i've always loved my Bergies. Two 1x12's with Aguilar 500SC. Neil
6. January sale - will consider offers around £1300. Neil.
7.
Christmas bump..
and post Christmas bump...!
8. So did anyone see this gig? How was it? Neil.
9.
What exactly is the reason you like vintage gear..would like to know the exact reasons for this preference to older gear....is it the sound of an old valve amp, the (i hate this word) Mojo of an early bass...i believe as a musician (apart from the asthetic qualities) you should buy the gear that suites you most in every aspect of your playing... i would like to try out an early 60's jazz but personaly find it a bit daunting..seems its a little bit of a mine field, especially with the sort of cash they go for...ive had a few basses, but in the end ive come down to two basses that i cant really fault, and give me the sound, feel and playability that i want.. alot of 'modern gear' is very hard to beat, i defy any vintage bass, to match a Sei jazz for performance..0r any othr high end instrument,.. unless you find something old, thats very special...The evolution of design is inevitably going to make things erm...better.(not always i know) My own views are that bass and amp building are better than they were 20/30 years ago, no doubt about it...for me wanting vintage gear is more about a certain sound, nostalgia, or an investment...im a jazz bass nut so i love the thought of a 62 jazz, but the reality is, i would rather spend 3-4 grand on an Alleva or Celinder than a 62 jazz...unless the jazz was amazing!! the bottom line is there is room for both..an old bass through a modern valve amp, a modern bass through a vintage amp.and mix it up..pays your money, take choice...there is so much choice you can get lost..for me a CS jazz or Sei through an Aguilar is enough...still like to funk a 62 jazz through a valve Ampeg though. i certainly wouldnt just stick to vintage gear though,, the modern world of bass has so much to offer...
+1 to pretty much all of the above. I am playing a Nordy VJ5 bass that has to be nicer than any old Jazz, certainly that I've come across up to now. And my Aguilar, Bergantino rig is half as heavy as vintage stuff usually is with no loss of quality in terms of sound. (It's probably better actually.) I will qualify that with the fact that I would still love to own a nice old P Bass, just because they do have a certain something if you find the right one. Neil.
10. No-one interested? It seems a shame that this could be wasted. Neil.
11. I have a ticket for this gig on 22 November at the Barbican in London and may not be able to make it. Just wondered if anyone might want to have my ticket - for a small fee(!) I would imagine that this will be a great gig having seen Marcus Miller before. PM me if you're interested. Regards Neil.
12. Now available through Bass Direct
13. Still around and for sale. Would also be interested in trades for Sadowskys - preferably 4 string. Cheers Neil.

Hi Clarky, You've put some nice gear together there for sure. Your jazz is a classic look that fits in anywhere. All the best Neil (The Epi 3x10 you sold me is still going well by the way.)
16. bump for the weekend. Still available. Neil.
17. Thanks for the kind comments. Neil.
18. The arrival of a new bass has forced me to re assess my current arsenal and I am going to sell my Skjold Lions Pride 5 string. It is a really nice instrument but it is a shame that it is not getting used so hopefully someone can make use of this excellent bass. It has been well treated and is in virtually new condition with no dents or scratches. I bought the bass new in April 2008 from Bass Direct. Spec details: Lions Pride ‘A’ style body 3 piece maple neck Morado fingerboard 35” scale Custom black Skjold/Hipshot hardaware Skjold custom pickups Skjold /East custom preamp – Volume 4 way pickup selector: neck solo, both in series, both in parallel, bridge solo Bass Treble Dunlop strap locks Neutrik locking jack Protec case with Skjold logo included in the sale A similar spec bass now would apparently cost in the region of £2300 I am looking for £1400 ovno Thanks for looking. I will be happy to answer any potential buyers questions of course. Neil.
19. Hi Chris, sorry that your Sadowsky experiment hasn't quite done it for you. I also took a while to get into mine from the Fender P Bass but I'm bonding now I think. I just had to forget my other basses and let my hands get used to the differences with the neck. For me the improvement in tone was worth it and now I'm trying to do everything with the one bass. If you're swapping a fair bit from fretted to fretless I can see how you would have a potential problem. I'm sure there is a queue of people wanting to buy the Sadowsky off you so hopefully it hasn't cost you too much. I never did find a Fender that could match up to the Sadowsky that I tried at Birdy's one time so I had to stop looking at get myself one of them instead. All the best with the quest. Neil.
20. Hi Chris, my thoughts on this dilemma have led me to my current 'happy with one bass' place - in a word Sadowsky. I don't really want to keep swapping instruments either and the one that does it for me at the moment is my Sadowsky Metro RV4. Whilst this is a J Bass I am sure that the quality of the build and attention to detail that seems to go with the Sadowsky territory will apply just as much to their P Basses. Good luck with the quest Chris. Neil ps - obviously something else will come along at some stage and the above will be out the window! I think the trick is not to worry about it too much and if another bass comes along and becomes your no1 just go with it.
21.
Heres the latest arrival!
nice one Steve - I can't keep track of what you have these days! Neil
22. I've got my ticket already from last years cancelled date. Can't wait! Neil
23. I recently bought a 3x10 Epifani cab off Clarky. The cab was exactly as described (excellent by the way) and he kept it for me for a week or two until we could arrange to meet even though he didn't know me from Adam at that time. It was a pleasure to deal with you Clarky! All the best Neil.
