I have aprox 21 beatles albums,all in good condition the white album has the poster and 4 pictures of the band. And all of McCartneys albums from McCartney to Flaming Pie.All are in plastic sleeves & have not been played in 15 years. This is collection only as there is so many of them, I would swap them all for a MIM Precision bass body & neck plate and screws.

Had tail lift on my '92 4003, bought a new tailpiece & added two extra screws now zero lift and still using Rotosound RS66 strings.

I waited 11 years to get my Ric 4003, this August I will have owned it for 13 years my favorite bass love it.

Just checked my emails from Musicman regarding the SUB bass, the 2 band eq on the SUB is the same as the 2 band Stingray 4. I got rid of the thin metal scratchplate,& bought a white triple ply one much better looking more of a Stingray look.

Recently I have been thinking of changing the body of my '89 Squier Precision, I was looking at one from Axesrus for £130 has anybody bought one of these. The body on the Squier looks thinner than the MIA, MIM or even the Squier CV Precisions. The neck on my Squier is nice and as it's now 22 years old (almost vintage) I would like to build a better bass around it. Has anyone else done this and are the replacement bodies the same thickness as the MIA / MIM Fenders.

+1 on the SUB great basses, slab body & the same 2 band eq as the Classic 4H.

After loking at the picture I'm toying with having my SUB resprayed.

Are the bodies on the Squier CV the same thickness as the Fender MIM.

Thank you flyfisher the truth is though,that I have gone through at least 20 basses to get to the 5 you see. And even now looking back at the money I've wasted on basses which I got rid of (at a loss) anoy's me. I really like the idea of one bass,remember the line 6 bass advert 24 basses in one.

Thank you ezbass I've had a few Jazz basses,but never owned a Gibson bass.

I would love to be happy with 1 bass,but 2 of my basses were bought by my girlfriend. The daft thing is that until I saw this forum & TB I only had 2 basses, in the last 2 years it went up to 7 basses now it's down to 5.

Today I went into one of the guitar shops where I live, & they have a secondhand Gray Musicman SUB 5 for dale at £449. The neck felt nice on it & the B string sounded good as well, I had never seen the 5 string version before it was a nice bass.

One bass which I regretted buying even on the bus journey home with it was a Hohner Professional J bass Fretless. It was heavey, neck never felt good to play & it never sounded that good.o I I was that gutted that I bought it instead of the good Sx precision that was in the shop at the same time,I hid it at the side of the wardrobe so I did'nt have to look at it. I saw it on Ebay about a month ago whoever bought it after me regretted it as well. Here is a picture of the bass being played like an upright by my son.

For me I was never a big fan of the Stingray until I got my SUB. Now after a scratchplate,battery & string change, it is close enough for me to satisfy my EBMM cravings.

The SUB is a great bass.

There is a HW1 in one of the guitar shops where I live so I may go there on Saturday & have a go of it. Like Boombass said I avoided Precisions for almost 20 years,due to the facts that they were everywhere (copies included) & I thought they looked plain and bulky. Yet here I am now playing my Squier & badly wanting a Fender, and asking my girlfriend if I can have money for Christmas to go towards my Fender fund.

I have heard a lot of good things regarding the CIJ basses, & I know that a name on a headstock does not make it better but in this case I will have to get a secondhand Fender Precision. This is why I'm going down the secondhand route just in case after saving up & it's not quite what I was thinking it would be. But there are a lot of upgradable parts you can get for the Precision unlike my Ric 4003.

No it was only posted to show that there are some bargins out there. I was in Rhyl in North Wales last Saturday & in the CC shop there,they had a Johnson MM copy in red with a maple neck for £99 check their website.
