Done and dusted!! A pleasure to do business with you Chris. Enjoy the GB - I know I'm going to love the Status - once I get my poor old brain around it!!
And you Neil, I'm going to enjoy playing this thing, it has style & more importantly the right number of strings! let me know how you get on with the status. Cheers. -
I was always curious about these Sandbergs and a couple of months ago I tried out a JM4. It was love at first sight. Mine is an "aged relic" cream white and arrives next week.. Superbe basses that combine the good things of other basses and add a personal flavour.
You'll love it, this one is my third & they have been great, i've never come across anyone with a duff one!

1995 GB Standard IV Proto No:001 by Bernie Goodfellow
This is currently a FEELER ONLY as I would dearly love to hang on to this bass but I can see no other way of obtaining a nice 5 string (pref Fender/Warwick/Spector?) at present, and I need to do that reasonably quickly for an ongoing project I am involved with. I'd just like to see what is out there which may or may not be suitable. The GB would come with a cheap but serviceable hardcase and I would need the 5 string to have a case also. I would have no problem in taking a 5 string of slightly lesser monetary value with a cash adjustment in my direction Please PM me if you have anything of interest which you may want to part with. Naturally, I reserve the right to withdraw this at a second's notice if and when I come to my senses and realise the error of my ways!! No straight sales, sorry. Please see below for further details: For Possible Trade: 1995 Goodfellow GBIV Standard Prototype Serial No: 001!!! A unique opportunity to own a piece of British Bass History!! Bernie Goodfellow GBIV Standard Prototype Serial No: 001: Built 25 November 1995. Initialled and dated by Bernie J Goodfellow (B.J.G) at neck joint. (See pics for inscription etc) Features: Maple neck and fret board Spalted maple EMG Soap Bars Pick Ups Black Input Jack Assembly Black BadAss II Bridge Black Schaller Tuners Black Schaller Drop D Tuner. 9 Volt Electronics The bass has been regularly gigged over the course of it’s busy life and hence there are the usual dings you would expect on a “working” instrument, but nothing major and certainly nothing effecting the playability of the instrument. The black finish on the BadAss II is wearing off on the top corner where the “heel” of the right hand rests when playing/muting and there is also a blemish on the headstock which is about the size of the nail on my little finger. There is also some superficial indentation/crazing at the join of the body and neck where I think someone may have made a poor job of an attempt at tweaking the truss rod Other than that, there is just the odd chip etc on the top and bottom edges of the body and the obligatory slight “buckle rash”on the back. The bass has just been professionally set up and serviced and is fitted with Stadium Elites 40/60/60/100.
Hi, would you be interested in a 5 string status S1? -
Haha!! No way man, unless its buy one get one free!!? I really dont have the room for another bass. These Snadbergs play really well!!
Yah, this one is a stunner, it's as new & plays real well, I'll probably pull it though if it doesn't go in the next few days as I am loathed to part with it, I'll cancel sky TV instead pay for a new rig !
Very nice, these play really good. Some would say better than fender. I'd buy this but the misses is trying to get rid of what I have as it is.
I saw you sold it, shame I'm skint as i might have had a punt, I reckon it could go for more that that!
If you can do it for £100 delivered, then i'll take this please? Can you post monday or tuesday at the latest as now have a session on Weds that I could really use this for!! I'd recommend either www.freightsearch.com or www.parcel2go.com if you're looking for quotes. Cheers, James
Hi James, £100 delivered is a fair price & I'm happy to let it go for that but unfortunately I Cant get it out until later in the week, I'm away on business for a few days. Let me know if your still interested. Cheers Chris.
I'm pretty sure that status fives are all 18mm spacing apart from the kingbasses which come in two different spacings. Andy
Cheers for the info Andy, I tried to measure it but its kind of difficult to do accurately & I couldn't find the spec online. Many thanks.

Hi everyone, the last part of my rig now going up, Ashdown MAG 115 cab in excellent condition (never gigged). specs are: 1x15" "blueline" speaker handling 250 watts at 8 ohms finished in black carpet with steel grill. Weighs 27kg. I'm looking for £90 & it is in near new condition. I can arrange a courier but owing to weight collection is preferred (from Birmingham). Cheers for looking. UPDATE - not enough interest in this! its a stonking (18 month old) cab that is taking up a big space in my lounge & so I'll knock it out for £75 to anyone who can collect it!!
Hey mate - whats the string spacing, scale length, weight and how does it balance?
Hi, Scale length is a 35", weight wise its no featherweight but not obscenely heavy (my sandberg jazz weighs more) & the balance seems pretty good to me, no neck dive probs, string spacing? I'm not entirely sure, obviously its narrower than a standard 4 but the neck profile on one of these is fairly shallow so you can still play the thing in comfort; I can still slap on it & I have zero skills in that area so it can't be that tight! Cheers for looking.

Hi everyone This is a status S1 graphite necked 5 string. The bass is in great condition with a really nice wood top & sounds awesome. The neck & fret work are in top condition & the only blemish is very small amount of buckle rash on the back of the body. I got this bass in a trade with JD1 recently & it is a really great sounding bass, loads of punch & definition as you'd expect with a Status & the B string is nice & tight, very playable! I love this bass but have enough trouble coping with 4 strings so would be looking to either sell at £650 ono or possible trade for a status S1 or S2 4 stringer in good nick. Cheers for looking.
Here's the original listing: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=lakland I acquired the bass in a trade recently and to be honest its not my cup of tea. I'm used to P-basses and I find I have nowhere to rest my thumb when playing. Fussy 'eh? But that's me! Its true what everybody says about these, the sound is massive and very versatile. The preamp allows you to set the mid range frequencies which gives you endless tone possibilities. I took it to a gig tonight and was thoroughly impressed with the sound but I struggled a bit with it. I know if I keep it I'll never really use it which is daft. I'd be looking for £550 inc Postage or swapsies with a US Precision. Cheers
It's a huge bargain, I've played it & it is one fantastic bass, the pictures don't do it justice as it really is a stunner!
