Little clear out:
MXR Vintage Bass Octave- SOLD.Very cool, and accurate, approximation of the OC-2, with more useful features and a smaller 1590A format. Great condition, No box and Velcro on the bottom, so cheap price. Works perfectly.
Fuzzrocious Demon - SOLD
This is a stock Demon from the ‘OSD’ days (before Fulltone got funny about the name), art is that of a Hannya mask, hence the ‘Oh She Demon’, clever huh. Excellent condition, never gigged. No box.
Chord BOD-50 - £20
Decent copy of the Boss ODB-3. Excellent condition, boxed.
£5 delivery or free shipping if you buy them all haha.
No trades.

See, this is why BC is the best.😀
I'm currently using a Focusrite driver for the interface, and the keyboard is class compliant according to Alesis website. Using an ASIO driver for the interface introduces quite a lot of latency. I'll need to download a new driver for Windows as I'm going from Win 8 to Win 10 or 11, but there is a download option for that on your website.
Just spoken to Mrs Nicko regarding the Scan DAW Laptop option and when I mentioned the cost it was a short conversation.
Yeah First Gen Scarletts are fine on Windows 10 and 11 (as per our compatibility page here: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4403683106066-Focusrite-product-compatibility-with-Windows-11), and as you say, you'll just get that relevant driver from our Downloads page. So hopefully, you'll be all sorted

All about the P bass for me, in almost every setting. I can stretch to a decent P/J.....as long as it's a J pickup on a P body/spec haha.

If your interface and keyboard connect via USB the important phrase to look for is "class compliant". This means that they work with the USB drivers built in to the OS and therefore should be fine. However if they rely on having to install separate drivers you might be out of luck.
Indeed, I know that all our USB products (Focusrite and Novation) are class compliant on Mac, but require USB drivers on Windows. I believe that is also a fairly reasonable rule of thumb for other audio gear too from what I've seen, although I do seem to remember seeing some gear being class compliant on Windows, but I think that might be the exception rather than the rule.

So about a year ago I finally succumbed and added a Sansamp to my meagre board. Playing my Lakland P through this I get an awesome tone using the suggested ‘Fat Tube’ settings but I’ve noticed that whilst the tone is great on the E & A up to about the fifth fret, once I venture further south the tone thins out and I feel like I disappear if you know what I mean? So I am tentatively looking for suggestions of alternatives that will still give me that ‘just about to break up’ grind but across the whole fretboard. What do you suggest?
I think with a lot of the Sansamp suggested settings, they’re set to full on the blend control (ie no clean bass sound). I know that the key with the original Sansamp to get the mids working for you again (which kind sounds like the issue here) is to start to bring that blend control in, tried that?Si

Also just bear in mind that PC's are somewhat of a minefield with regards to their parts and those parts compatibility with recording gear. Places like Scan do their best to put together machines where all the composite parts work together nicely, but then add in more 3rd party music gear which require drivers to play nicely with the PC's hardware and it can become tough. It's why many people choose to work on Mac when it comes to Audio.
This isn't a "you should swap to Mac" post, more to make sure you look at what the PC is made up of, and whether that hardware/drivers are fully compatible without issue with the recording gear you have/are planning to use.

It does make you think that the Ignition models are more preferable to the CT ones, especially the new Ignition SE, which seems to include the 'correct' knobs and a few other bits.
For just over £300, not too shabby to approximate THAT sound.
Still prefer the Club models though, especially the black one.

It sold about 20 minutes ago for £1300, you have to add approximately 30% commission to that
I looked at it, but didn’t have the weight listed, and didn’t mention about the state of the truss rod etc. I’m not in a rush. Great price if it’s solid though!Si

The machine heads on the OP bass are a bold statement!
That’s one way of putting it.

I had it in my head that it wasn't the original finish, and so filling the pickup routs and respraying would potentially be on the cards......clearly it's not haha.
Going for a Nick Campbell Musicmaster vibe? @ped?

Sorry, to be clear.....the plan is to put it back to the original spec? 🤞

They were the last Harley Benton's basically, before them it was SX (although mainly in the US).
And so the world turns

Yeah just Google and images of old packaging doing you dirty.
The image to the left is their new packaging. They only do one guage of LTF's as well, so all you have to do it pick 4 or 5 string....nice and easy haha.

Where are you looking? La Bella only sell one 'type' of Low Tension flats: https://www.labella.com/product/ltf-4a/
Almost certainly just a difference in wording/ old packaging or similar.Si

How do people feel about P/J vs soapbars on 4 string Spectors? Not really talking tonally, more physical feel, while playing (probably more for finger players that question).

Here’s my Ibanez SR300E in Iron Pewter (a kind of metallic dark blue/grey).
Was bought for a project that never happened, so aside from some super light playing at home (to learn some tunes), the bass is completely mint.
Comes with a very simple bag/cover, and so I wouldn’t want to post.
I’m in the high Wycombe area.
Any questions, let me know.
No trades.
Cheers

Slightly newer, £100 more expensive but in much better condition. Has a jazz pickup fitted but this is a fairly common mod. Heavy lump though at 11lbs but I think I would pick that one instead.
Yeah, have spotted that one, weight and added pickup would be a no from me. I’m only lightly looking really, unlikely I’ll have the funds for a while haha.Si

Apart from the obvious changes of the bridge, scratchplate and abominable tuners, what's the rest looking like to people?

Just realised that I'm 5 months in to a 2022 abstinence....quite accidentally actually haha.
Last purchase was a Sansamp back at the end of May.
I would have bought loads in that time tbf......but life has deemed otherwise.

Yeah, horrendously overpriced.
Great player, great basses in their original form.....but this has been mistreated and so isn't even what I'd call 'player-grade' at this point.
You'd probably want to spend a couple of grand stripping it all back completely and refinishing it to period correct.....which is fine....but the price does not reflect that work whatsoever!
They're relying on a jazz aficionado weekend warrior who has made their money elsewhere in the world.......and that is a niche crowd indeed.

I would have loved to pick up a T-16 from this batch, but just at the wrong time for me.
Inshall definitely be looking out for those skimmed down T-47’s though! Very excited for those!

It's a solid update from Boss I think, I had the SL-20 for a bit, years ago and it was fun. I have no real use for one anymore, but if I did, this new format is winning.

My Elrick Evo5, which I bought off @Sibobof this parish 18 months back, has been quite a revelation for me: it's pretty much blown away several other basses I never thought I would move on and has become my first choice gigging bass. So a "budget" Cort Elrick has definitely got my interest and @haimesyexperience with his, suggests it could be quite a treat. If one comes up used (in white, please, haha) I'll be at the head of the queue!
Just also seen the Basstheworld review of the Cort A5 Ultra Ash with Fishman Fluence pups - damn that's a tasty neck-through! Cort seem to be seriously upping their game and parking their tanks squarely on the lawns of the likes of Ibanez and, dare I say, Yamaha?
Yes, and the ‘real’ NJS5 I bought after selling the EVO5 is also a killer bass, still with me and currently recording another song on Jocee’s new album.
Bearing in mind that I’m a fairly dyed-in-the-wool Precision style lover, it’s as a surprise to me as it might be to you that I still have it around….wonderful ‘super’ Jazz bass, a joy to play and sounds fantastic (all US Bartolini in this case).
As such, I imagine that the Cort Elricks are great too, I’d like to try a 4 string at some point!

How do i find the Value?! Fender 68P
in Bass Guitars

It looks like a stripped finish, partly because of the wood combinations used for the body (not perfect matches), plus they didn’t (to my knowledge) offer natural finishes in 1968.
So you’re obviously looking at less than a fully original example, but still a nice looking bass.
