I heard stories of the necks being a bit unstable (not retaining a good setup) with heavier guage strings, and so not great for low tunings.
Would be great to see if that is an ongoing issue or was a one-off as they look great to fill the void left by Status (from the graphite neck perspective).

Hey all,
Just getting rid of some bits I'm not using currently.
This is is a Clarett+ 2Pre (ie the very latest version of the 2Pre), great upgrade if you've been recording for a few years.
ADAT in and out, so you can even add another channel strip for up to 8 more channels. Comes with everything you need of course, box contents as per new. You'll also be able to register the unit in order to receive the optional free software/plugins etc.
The 2Pre is great because you can also bus-power it if you're running a USB-C Mac Book, no power adapter needed (although that is included of course).
Perfect working order of course, couple of marks on top and that's it.£270 + £10 postage.
Happy to part ex for a Jad Freer CAPO, with cash your way of course.
Cheers

Solid basses and about a good a 5 string you can get for the money! Also a solid base for upgrading pickups/preamp too.
Mine is awesome!

The nitro over poly sealer has been used since the 60s, according to a link someone posted above.
Yup, from the mid-60’s to the mid 70’s (around 76 I think), pretty much everything was nitro over poly I believe. Nothing new, Fender are simply talking (marketing?!) about old techniques here.Si

Yeah, the old German Standards didn’t have the two-piece bridge, this looks genuine.

Oh I’d be in trouble if this were fretted!

Phenomenal basses, I have a blacked-out stealth version of this, not quite as light as this one, but still an amazing instrument.

I think essentially you’re going to get the same high quality, great sounding instrument, but with the ‘B’ width (1.625”) nut, my preference too! Presumably the pickup is voiced slightly differently too, but won’t be too much of a tweak I shouldn’t think. I’d love one of the 70’s Mocha ones they do!

Presumably this is an MTD Kingston Saratoga?

Maybe the trick is the 40th anniversary is a limited edition limited to 40000 units!
A wishful thought 😂Si

Just checked out the Status website, are they back to - business as usual? Can't see any notices that regular orders are on hold?
Looks like the latest news item alludes to the 40th anniversary bass that was somewhat suggested (albeit cryptically) in Rob’s original retirement message.I wonder whether they’re purely in a holding pattern to put those out as a limited run, and then who knows.

As has been mentioned, totally wrong headstock for this bass!
I also think the top horn and the bottom horn look like they're from two separate basses.
Not for me........although I do like the green colour!Si

Similar to LW’s point, off-the-shelf zat that price will probably also been a lot of variation in weights even if they’re the same body wood, so not many manufacturers will advertise the weight. Best thing is to try a bunch at Peach, GuitarGuitar, Bass Direct, Bass Gallery etc

Yeah it's unlikely you'll get anyone else to do it as Real Electronics will have exclusive access to the schematics.

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this particular query but I’m looking to make a couple of madbean’s afterlife compressor - one for me and one for a friend.
Thing is I want to do it on stripboard with a layout that I’m going to put together from the schematic on the madbean website. It’s the first time I’ve ever done this and was wondering if anyone would be willing to double check my work to see if…a. It makes sense and will work
b. if there’s a better way of laying the components out
I’ve built a fair few pedal kits with bought pcbs but have never laid anything out on stripboard before. I’m using DIY Layout Creator to draw the layout and was going to post here if that’s ok?
Just out of curiosity, why are you looking to do a stripboard build as opposed to buy a PCB?

Easy to mitigate the scooped mids by using a bit more of the blend. I appreciate that's not idea, but I get a nice mid'y clank with my Sansamp BDDI without too much effort.

I created two different versions of the pcb. Version 1 is only a single channel-version, version 2 is a dual channel-version.
How important is the limiter? Should both channels be switchable?
The Suncoast version had a switch for selecting between the two channels, and then a separate switch for combining them (plus another for bypass of course).
Seems like a nice setup?!Si

I had Chromes on my P for a couple of years, started bright, died off nicely as you'd expect. I replaced them with La Bella flats and they instantly sounded like the worn in Chromes, straight out the pack. Lesson? Buy La Bella flats for Precisions

Hi all,
This band is pretty much defunct now, we all live in different countries now and the others don't know how to record haha.
But we had this sitting on a hard drive, so I decided to mix it and have it mastered by Izzy McPhee.
Enjoy:

Tape wound strings

Yeah I’ve had plenty of fretted basses with tapewounds, and if you get on with the low tension, they sound awesome!
