1.
What I want to know is what throat lynctus your singer uses ...
I gave him a few packs of Nigroids which were left over from my last attempt at lead vocals. And yes, I understand. Most people's comments about metal follow the trend of butchered animals; normally cats.
2. It's the bonus track for our EP Eulogy which came out on Tuesday. It's the first song with all 5 of us and is going to be on the upcoming album. Comments would be muchly appreciated After Death
3. I'm rather surprised noones mentioned Death From Above 1979. They were just a drummer and a bassist and had vocals too.
4. I used to always use distortion on my bass with my last band but when it came to recording, the bass sounded more like a fart cannon than anything else. With my new band, even though we're metal, I'm keeping my tone clean. I do like distortion but I'm going to wait a while until I can try a good bass through a good pedal and see how I feel about it
5. So far, it's probably got to be told we're going on a tour in South America. I was bouncing off the walls, I expect that it'll soon be playing in South America though
6. After Death (my new band) are playing at the Purple Turtle in Camden on Nov 2nd. This will be my fist gig with them. We're on around 7:45 with doors at 7:00 It's only £5 if any local Basschatters want to swing by
7. Been wondering for a while now, what does feeler mean in the fs sections?
8. Joy! I've been wanting to see them for a good while :D:D
9. I saw Evile 2 weeks ago and they were awesome. It's such a shame that such a young talented player is taken again
10. I was always under the impression that a 'dropped' tuning had the lowest string dropped a tone i.e Drop D is DADG, Drop C is CGCF Wheras standard tunings are tuned to 4ths i.e. Standard E is EADG, Standard D is DGCF So drop A would be AEAD
I've seen a Schecter set up to B-E-A-D straight out of the shop Or was it a Warwick?
I think it was this
11. On my 17th birthday I did nothing but eat cake and drink stella. I think I'd had about 9 or 10 cans by the time band practice came along. I vividly remember playing along then projectile vomiting in the bin. Delightful. We had a few gigs with our singer too pissed to sing. I remember we'd all set up and were asking the crowd where Kieran was when suddenly he stumbeld from behind us, triped over the guitar amp and fell flat on his face. He spent the rest of the gig roaring in some poor girls face. He also decided to join in during our last gig even though he'd already left the band (Also very very inebriated) (around 6:20)
12.
matthew hopkins (witchfinder general) - Cathedral
+1 A lot of people associate The Misfits with Halloween so something like Die Die My Darling or otherwise?
13. Could I grab the other HD2400? As above postage would be needed
14. I've got the same problem but I've got an audition as a vocalist tomorrow. I've been taking Nigroids which taste like s*** but are good, also soluble asprin in water and gargling helps Good luck
15. I'm not very good at writing my own stuff. The one song suggestion I had for my old band was discarded (Turned that into an industrial nightmare for my coursework ) The band had this general song writing process: Singer makes drumtrack on drum machine Guitarist gets copy of drumtrack and jams along to it and records it I get tabs and copy of track Drummer gets copy of track Vocalist picks lyrics out of the big box of lyrics we had (With 3 people contributing to lyrics, it wasn't long before we had a box full of them) I'd pretty much copy the guitarline, I was never really confident enough to do my own thing
16.
Did your Mum buy it for you? Mine bought me a guitar one. It's in the loft.
Mine got me a bass one, I didn't have the heart to not use it
17. This one is cool Creepy And god knows And yes, I do wear that shirt a lot
18. In my personal experience it best thing to do is to know the bass part inside out. Then you just focus on singing and try and let the bass come naturally. After doing backing vocals for my last band I found the transition to lead vocals quite easy when our singer quit 3 days before a gig.
19.
Monto have nights at a few different venues in London: The Water Rats, The Electrowerkz, Zigfrid von Underbelly, that i know of. We've been invited back to the WR before, but the promoter has tried to make us by bulk tickets off them for us to sell in advance.
My old band played the Underbelly, we were told it was a 4 band night but 8 or 9 played. We were asked to play the Water Rats and they wanted us to do the same thing with the tickets. Judging from the other thread on here about them we said no.
20. My last band broke up a few months ago and I haven't really been playing much as a result. I've been looking for a while to see if there were any metal originals bands who needed a vocalist but to no avail. I was thinking about joining another band as a bassist but I don't think I'm musical enough to do so. I can play anything set in front of me but writing music is quite difficult for me. So I've been thinking about joining a covers band; something to keep me busy for now and to get me playing again. Just wondering if any of you lot had some advice on what sort of setup I should have; if theres anything I should invest in or skills I should start learning.
21. Right, after a long delay due to university problems, results troubles and me being out of the country, the bass has been picked up by DHL this morning. It should reach Metalmoore within the next few days. I left a lovely sticker on the bass (also a horrible purple) bearing the question "Do I make you horny?" I enjoyed playing the 5 string as I like metal and it means I can be lazy and not downtune to play some songs. However the string spacing really annoyed me. It took me forever to get use of my third finger in for triplets and my slapping kept hitting more than one sting. I can get on with 5 strings but I don't see myself getting one anytime soon.
22. PM'd Metalmoore who appears to be next on the list
23. A video from the night. Our old singer decided to make an unexpected experience.
24. I played a gig on Friday with a band who looked like they'd stepped out of a burlesque show. Sometimes an image can do more harm than good, with people judging you straight away. There was also another band which all wore shorts. I think it worked, they looked very metal.
