1. Here for sale is my 1995 Sadowsky NYC 4 jazz. I have bought it from fellow BCer JohnnyLightYear and I know some other BCers have had the pleasure before (Barrie/Molan and other previous owners, if you want to chime in pls feel free). Absolutely stunning in cobalt blue: ash body, quilted maple top, maple board, humcancelling Sadowsky pups and the legendary Sadowsky VERY effective 2-band preamp (a little goes a long way...). No VTC installed, it's still all original, included the Sadowsky D-tuner. Older style Schaller bridge allows for a little string spacing adjustment. Weight is 3.9kg on a digital bathroom scale. Comes in a plastic moulded hardcase, also with blue interior. Excellent conditions throughout: perfect straight satin finished neck with virtually zero fretwear which allows for very low action, a few superficial swirls and dings (mostly the size of a nail's head, just tiny dents in the lacquer's surface). One small knock on the lower edge on the body, near the pots, and a scuff on the tip of the headstock. None of the above is normally visible if not under a very close inspection. No belt rash on the back. I have just noticed for the first time that the ring of the active/passive miniswitch is missing. Overall only very minor cosmetic blemishes (and the bass is nearly 15!!!) Here are the pics (a few are from the previous owners, I hope they do not mind, sorry, I am not exactly Helmut Newton...) Price is £1,600 plus shipping. If you have a courier of your choice I'll be happy to consider it (I live in Ayrshire, south of Glasgow, KA17), provided they collect, otherwise I'll use Parcelforce. I would strongly recommend insurance, although it's not going to be cheap. I'll take a good old fashioned cheque for this, no Paypal: that's the way I paid for it, so you can do it too, I am sure Johnny can vouch for my genuinity (if I don't send you the bass you can always come over, beat me up and break my legs... LOL). I am afraid that if there is no solid interest it will be on the Bay very soon indeed, so dig deep into your pockets while it's (only) here, rob your nan, or sell your sister to the slave trade... just get the dosh together !!! Sorry, but I will not consider any trades: I will remain with a '89 "transition" 'Ray and a '95 Sterling for the moment, but I have something else in mind. Thanks for your interest Claudio
2. Going to Milan next week, where the bass is. Price for BCers is still £1199 shipped!!! I must have lost my marbles.... A boutique Jazz bass that would cost you over two grand (order + import/transportation from the USA)!!!! And it is new!!! Because I have played it three times in the bedroom in its 1 year's life!!! So if anybody wants it I'll take it back with me and ship from here, to save time and hassle. Claudio
3. You can listen to various clips at http://www.lowendbasses.com/ click LowEnd J-basses, then Gallery. Quality of audio samples is much better than the videos' (studio v live).
4. ... and resting in the portabag.....
5. September trip confirmed: anybody interested ??
6. Still available, folks... Nobody there to ship at the mo, but I am going for a few days at the beginning of September, so I am willing to take her back at my expenses and ship from here, if sold before leaving. Unless you fancy a September trip to Milan yourself, for some great local food/drink/weather/beauties..... and pick her up personally... Just a few quid flying with "Ruin-air"... LOL!!
7. Before selling mine I did some research and your price is spot on. Have a TGF BUMP !!!
8. Really nice and attractive price!! BTW, must be the son of this one from 1995... LOL ( A couple of fellow BCers have had the pleasure before, but now she's staying put )
9. Here are some newer piccies Here is the deal: if you have read the opening post, you know the bass is in Milan, Italy. I am going there on Mon 20 July for a week, and the special price for the occasion is £1199 SHIPPED!!! I am losing my marbles.... It may be shipped directly from there or from here once I have come back with her, it depends on the costs: shipping from there is more expensive but Ryanair (aka Ruinair...) charges me for the privilege of taking her back with me, so I'll see... but it's still 1199 to you. Even timewise it should be more or less the same once you consider that I would need to be back first, in order to ship from here. All I ask is to be paid with a good old fashioned cheque in the (recorded) post like I did with Johnnylightyear for his Sad, in order to avoid Paypal charges. At the mo this offer is exclusive to BCers as the bass is not advertised anywhere else, but I cannot guarantee it will stay like this for long and the price will NOT be lowered any further. Guys, this is a 2800USD + VAT/duty + shipping from the US boutique bass, for 1200 quid!! Listen to some audio clips of LEJ basses in the url given in the opening post... and give in to GAS!!!! LOL!! Cheers Claudio
10. I saw the other thread about "low end basses on eBay" and I thought: OMG, how have I missed them? Then I got it... PHEW!!.... There's only my LowEnd Jazz - LEJ for sale on eBay!! PINK!! Only a few hours to go, then no more possibility of shipping until end of July then straight to September.....
11. Now final days on eBay at £1199 + shipping Special attractive price, as I cannot ship for a few months after that, so no early re-sale or relist
12. In an attack of madness now a FINAL REDUCTION before Thursday's eBayment: £299 + £25 shipping, with insurance optional. (£229 for picking up the bass alone). GULP!!!
13. Funny how many of you had one of these back in the ice age LOL!! When I think about it, I feel like a dinosaur ...
14.
Thanks for your comment Steve. Now reduced to £1350 shipped and eBayed
Final price reduction to £1300 shipped and eBayed.
15.
Beauty! It takes me back.. although mine was mahogany finish it was the same model. Excellent bass. Just look at mine now! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ibanez+roadster Good luck with the sale Claudio.. well worth the asking price!
Wow!! What a change!! Thanks for the comments, guys. If you had one of these in the '80s like me, it means we're no spring chickens LOL ROFL
16.
Cool bass. What are the controls? Also the saddles look a bit rusty, do they still adjust OK?
Controls are vol/tone (the two yellow knobs), bass/treble (the two black ones), active/passive chrome switch and pu selector (the white switch). All knobs/controls are original, and so is everything else apart from the tuners. Here is a pic of the bridge I forgot before: You can see the screws are not rusty, but I believe the saddles are brass and need some polishing to take the tarnish off. I tried to turn the screws one or two years ago just to check and had no problems.
17. I am the original owner from new, bought it in Autumn 1981, and she's never changed hands. The guy from the shop said Ibanez cases were not delivered, but he had a Fender black tolex case with red interior "that's been laying around for a while", also brand new, so I took it. Made in Japan and built like a tank, beautiful wood grain, P-J configuration, 2-band EQ, active/passive switch. Controls are vol, tone, treble, bass, PU selector. I always managed to obtain a good quality sound, in studio and live. A couple of knocks and dings here and there on the body and one on the tip of the headstock (well, wouldn't you expect it from a 28-year old axe??), although the neck is perfect. 24-fret 3-piece neck with 5-piece headstock. Frets in very good conditions, virtually no wear at all. Completely stock apart from the flimsy butterfly-shaped tuners, immediately replaced with Glover. Comes with original thumbrest (never fitted) and trussrod key. She may need a bit of a setup as she hasn't been played for aaaaaaaages (regular use in gigs/rehearsals for 10 years, then virtually untouched for the last 18). The case is also in good nick, a couple of small dents in the tolex but all feet/latches/hinges/handle work perfectly, although a bit tarnished. The external plastic Fender logo in the corner is still remarkably intact. An attractive price for fellow BCers, for both together as a bundle, now at £349 plus £25 UK shipping (a few geographical exceptions, with Parcelforce 48; insurance optional). Sorry, not looking for trades or offers. I'll take Paypal but can only ship from Monday 15th June. If no interest here, eBayment will follow soon. The bass is not available without the case, unless you are willing to come to pick it up near Glasgow: price for the bass alone would be £299. The case would be then sold separately at a price considerably higher than £50 once the need for protecting/shipping the bass has gone. So my advice is: get both, then sell the case (if not needed) to vintage Fender owners for £99 ... I am afraid I cannot take further pics as she's now already packed ready for shipment. Thanks for looking Claudio
18.
I'm also starting to get GAS for Sadowsky that I can't act on financially lol! This is a particularly nice one! Is there much difference between this 90's one and the one's they're putting out now, apart from the VTC. I'm assuming not much!? Si
AFAIK Roger uses slightly different electronics (I believe made by Aguilar instead of Bartolini, although I think the design/specs are proprietory), different hardware (from narrower Schaller bridge to his own Gotoh clone with 20mm spacing on a 4 stringer) and, in my experience, the older necks tend to be slimmer. The changes may sound subtle to some and huge to others, it depends.
19. Really sorry to hear that no doubt life will serve you a good hand soon, mate Claudio
20.
That is a very fine looking bass. Great price too. Good luck.
Thanks for your comment Steve. Now reduced to £1350 shipped and eBayed
