1.
It is indeed a very cool bass. I am great friends with the original seller of this particular bass (the guy who actually imported 2 Sadowsky's (e.g. this and another one) from the US). He is very much a 5 and 6 string player so this Sadowsky just sat for many years unplayed. I remember the night I polished it up... (it was a little dusty!) and that blue just shone like a Caribbean sea! Enjoy it! It's a good one... very funky...
Cheers mate, I definitely will!! Claudio
  2.
It would indeed seem that way, pending the usual formalities... Claudio, (apothem) as the first man to throw the required notes my way wins a splendid example of a sadowsky NYC!
Well, indeed!! I have put up for sale both my Moon and my LEJ-LowEnd Jazz (now both eBayed) to fund this... So here I am Claudio
  3. I have decided to give fellow BCers a "first right" opportunity, although she will be eBayed very soon, something like this one cannot stay in limbo too long... LEJ 4/21 - LowEnd Jazz 4 strings, 21 frets, Shell Pink with matching headstock, tort pickguard. An ABSOLUTELY M-I-N-T boutique bass, not a swirl on it!! I have bought it brand new in October last year from the builders Brian Barrett and Chris Benavente at Brian's shop just outside Nashville, Tennessee, USA (http://www.thelowend.net/thelowend/index.htm). Since then I have only used it for a few hours in the bedroom because the bass is actually at my father's in Milan, Italy, while I live in Scotland. Still has the plastic film on pickguard and rear cover. Also fitted by Brian with a chrome neck pickup cover "a la Marcus". Chris Benavente dual coils pickups are wired for parallel (modern, scooped mids) as default, but switchable to series (vintage, fatter mids) via pulling the volume pots. Very effective LEJ 2-band preamp. All wired vol/vol/master tone (treble roll-off)/ stack treble and bass. Active/passive mode via master tone pot push/pull. Alder body and rosewood board. Very slim J-style 3-piece neck with satin finish. Hipshot A adjustable bridge with strings-through-body option and brass nut. You can hear various LEJ sound clips at http://www.lowendbasses.com/ click LowEnd J-Basses, then Gallery, then Video and Sound Clips (sound clips are recorded better and are at the bottom of the page). There are several LEJ videos on Youtube as well ( http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=lowend...amp;view=videos ) but the audio quality (taken from live performances) is not very good. Although the bass is stunning and playability is just unreal, I miss the maple board and have something else in mind. Current ordering price is $2800-3000 plus shipping and massive import duty (OUCH!!). Stock is zero as they are made to order; the ones that occasionally are available in the shop are usually cancelled orders. Comes with a very padded and sturdy, semi-rigid portabag/gigbag (it actually stands on its own...). SUPER PRICE for BCers is £1199 shipped (the bass is in Italy, and shipping is going to expensive, but I will absorb the cost in order to remain competitive; just do not expect an overnight service.... that would cost an arm and a leg... and an eye.... and a ear... LOL!! More realistically, it will take a few days, but it will be packed by professionals and shipped by courier, trackable and insured). No trades please. Don't let this pass you by, life is short... Claudio
  4. REDUCED AGAIN to £699 SHIPPED within mainland UK. Or eBayment looming... (Thursday evening).
  5.
I hear the Scottish food is better than Italian food and the weather is nicer too, right? Just Kidding.... Like a French cook once said during a visit to England: "Fortunately they can't cook the landscape!"
Tell me about it!! You see what a man does for love?? LOL ROFLMAO... But the good news is: PRICE REDUCED TO £699 plus shipping.
  6. Thanks for the comments guys, she's really sweet, but I have something else in mind now....
Claudio, do you have portuguese roots?
Nope, I'm Italian, from Milan. Married a British lady and came up here, ten years down in Sussex and now three in Scotland.
  7. For sale is my lovely Moon JJ Translucent Red, matching headstock, ash body, ebony board. She does not get the attention she deserves so she should move to a new home. General condition is excellent: no buckle rash at all and the only swirls/signs are little and very superficial, really have to look at an angle under a certain light to see. On the edge of the headstock there are two little dings, but really nothing important. The neck is immaculate, not a sign on it and perfectly lacquered. All the hardware (gold) is also perfect, included (gold) straplocks. Currently fitted with Haussel pickups (german, hand-wound single coils, not a snip at around £150) which give a very sweet sound, but the original Moon pickups will be included in order to provide the possibility for a truly all-original instrument. The preamp is the original Moon 2-EQ cut/boost with central indent (although I suspect it's a Bartolini re-packaged, like the overwhelming majority of Moon's stock preamps). Comes with the original Moon gigbag, also in great shape. Here are the piccies... Price is now £699 SHIPPED within mainland UK, down from £750 plus shipping, which I consider fair given the rarity and the conditions of the bass. I have something else very specific in mind so, please, no offers and no trades. I live south of Glasgow in case somebody wonders... So here's the opportunity for fellow BCers to own something special. If no interest, it will be eBayed soon. I am willing to ship abroad by courier only (Royal Mail does not provide trackability abroad) and FULLY insured, although it may be VERY expensive. Thanks for looking NOW SOLD SOLD SOLD as of 15 May Claudio
  8.
And please fellow forumites - no more pricing comments
I apology for the pricing comment, although it was made only in the spirit of making the seller aware of market conditions and not to denigrate the quality of the instrument or the seller's integrity.
  9.
BUT.... and I don't mean any offence either. I think this is all academic. EU1800 is about £1650 at the present exchange rate. You'd get one brand new out of a shop for less than that surely?
I am afraid "thepurpleblob" is right. Don't get me wrong, that Metro is very nice but it seems rather expensive, as you can get it brand new in fab CAR for £1536 (incl. VAT) from Guitarguitar in Glasgow. I saw it in the shop in all its glory.
  10. This is a pic of mine (not up for sale at the mo) They're not very common and the quality is superb, so £600 it's an absolute steal, somebody is in line for a bargain!!
  11. How is the neck on these Moon JJs? Is it really thin like a Fender Jazz or a bit chunkier?
  12. Guys, I've got the one the pic (with the neck pu cover added) and they are stuning pieces. NOT for sale, btw... I tried a few 5 strings in Brian's shop near Nashville: the neck is wide enough to slap as if it was a 4, but the thickness is much more a J than a P (being hand-made one neck may be slightly different from another, but in general that's what they are).
  13. Weekend madness setting in!!! Price REDUCED to £1,000 incl. UPS shipment, trackable and fully insured. NO MORE REDUCTIONS, folks, last chance!!!
  14.
Nice, nice ,nice, was this bought on here a year or so ago I seem to remember lusting for it then, silly thing but if you got Bernie to stick a Spifire decal on it it would just finish it off nicely, thats a very reasonable price too I would have thought. Good luck with the sale.....
Yes it was advertised here last November, from a guy in Italy. I got it but played it only a handful of times. Thanks
  15.
MB1. I personally would wait ,i have very little faith in couriers, this is far too nice a bass to be entrusted to one.
This is why it would be shipped FULLY insured, for the buyer's and my protection as well. Anyway, chances are that I would need to ship it even from home, so there would be some risk anyway.
  16.
MB1. Would it not be easier to just bring the bass back to the u.k with you, when you return, and then sell it here?
I thought so, but first of all I am not coming back for some time (mid-Jan) and, second, the lovely people at Ryanair charge me £25 for the privilege. Add on top another £25 at least for domestic shipping. Overall a modest saving and a long wait.
  17. For sale is my 2002 GB Standard 4: emerald green/teal, flamed maple top on ash, maple birdseye board, matching headstock, Hipshot Lightweight tuners, bridge adjustable for string spacing as well (Hipshot, I believe), black hardware, Neutrik jack, original Hiscox GB case WITH KEY (cellotaped under the internal box cover). Same 3-eq 18V electronics with microswitch now fitted on Spitfire and Rumour, with pulsating low battery LED. Fitted with brand new 40-100 Status Hotwire Premium Round Core with 10mins playing time on. She is in excellent shape, only a couple of very superficial tiny signs and some fingernails swirls only visible at an angle, absolutely nothing I could photograph. No buckle rash and perfect neck. Here are the piccies to make you drool a little ... Now fitted with the small original rubber knobs of the third pics, not the bigger ones of the first two. Case is also virtually perfect, apart from the small knock on the edge visible in the picture (isn't this is what cases are for??). Price is an attractive £975 + shipping, no offers and no trades please. Although I live in the UK, I am currently visiting my father in Milan, Italy, so I can only take Paypal on this, and I will absorb the fee. Unfortunately this also means the bass ships from Italy where it has been for some time, and that is not exactly cheap. The best quote I got is from the Italian postal service, at £65 insured but not fully trackable (once it leaves the Italian border it falls into the twilight zone, not fully recommendable; moreover, their unreliability is legendary....). The cheapest courier is UPS, delivered in 2 working days, fully insured and fully trackable, at £95. I recognise the steepness of this charge and, in order to facilitate the sale, I am willing to ship UPS at the £65 cost of the normal postal service, a £30 saving for the buyer. Therefore, no more haggling, please... (If you want to have a laugh, check Fedex for shipping from postcode 20137 Italy to your place, 10kg weight, 1250 Euro insurance value... I nearly fainted...). *** NOW REDUCED TO £1,000 SHIPPED WITH UPS, TRACKABLE AND INSURED. NO FURTHER DISCOUNT *** This is going to be available exclusively to BCers for a few days, then it will be eBayed as well. Paypal details available via PM to the committing buyer. Now, go reach for your credit card before it's too late... Cheers mates
  18. OK, the provocation was: let's make the "For sale" section what it says on the tin. Anybody could have done opinion/tip exchange, price research and other soul-searching/mulling over in other sections BEFORE, so that when the axe is placed up for sale, the vendor has ALREADY clear in mind that the bass is DEFINITELY up for sale (first) and at what price (second). This is what the thread was about. In the "For sale" section I would prefer the brutal honesty of vendors stating clearly "if it does not sale within X, it will go back under the bed or to the 'bay". Please note this was a general comment and not with anybody particular in mind. Obviously the idea did not prove very popular (this is the mother of all the euphemisms...) and I take notice, no problems, simple as that. Thanks to you all for replying and letting me know I was an isolated voice.
  19. "Oh, I have gigged it today and I have decided it is going nowhere..." "Oh, it was only a feeler, I was in two minds, so it is not up for sale anymore...." Nothing is more irritating than this!!! Reading between the lines: nobody offered what I had in mind, so I 'll have to stick with it for the time being, but I will use a silly excuse... It's free!! I can!! I would dare to suggest to moderators to charge a fee for putting a bass up for sale, e-bay style. No "feelers" allowed: either it is up for sale at a specific price or it is not. If you do not know what to charge, do some research first and avoid some embarrassment. I know this is a great community but the "For sale" section is the "For sale" section, not the smoochy-smoochy, "oh, lovely!!!! but I am skint " waste of bandwidth!!! Anywhere else you pay to advertise. If you DEFINITELY want to sell it, be prepared and that's it!! Too many "I will try here, or it will go to e-bay" transformed into "... well, after all, I did not know what I was doing....". Very well, maybe there should be a charge upfront, to clear in advance the mind of people just testing the water. Attracted buyers will visit the site anyway. In a few words: too many taking advantage of the (free) system. Please do not flood my mail box with comments, I will not reply. If you want to add something, please do in the open thread. And before anybody asks: yes I have sold a bass here, a cheap one, and if I had known in advance about all the timewasters begging to reserve it for them for the next week/month, only to disappear in the blue yonder, I would have done otherwise. Surely not again. All the best to convinced sellers that WANT a change and go for it!! Thanx
  20.
Swap? mine is a year younger but has higher quality pictures!
+1 ROFLMAO!!
  21.
There's something wrong with me!, I saw the pics of yours and thought ''I wanna get me one of them'' Ha ha!
Is there a doctor in the house? LOL!!
  22. VERY nice indeed, and the younger brother to mine (Apr 1989). Yours is immaculate while mine bears some scars on the body.... The neck is typical of the period, birdseye and glossy finish. I find these old 2eq Rays more "zingy" and aggressive than more recent ones. Good luck, it is stunning!! (mine stays where it is for the time being... )
