Yeah I think that’s fair. I’m not in a band or doing any gigging at the moment. I do a little home recording which the QC is excellent for but realistically I could just use the NDSP plugins direct in logic for guitar and DI from my board for bass. That being said I’ve been here before with the Boss GT1000core, as soon as I sold it I got GAS for modulation, delay and reverbs which I don’t have any practical use for except experimentation. I’ve not spent much on gear since grabbing the QC which is a big win. Maybe have some stuff on the horizon that will let me test out if i really need my QC. For now its a keeper though.

Its a tiny box of joy. Tend to find shift toggle up for bass and then dial in anywhere from light snarl to chewy wall of filth.

I think I’m currently in a reasonably healthy GAS position with pedals right now. Every time I start thinking about needing another preamp or drive I reach for one off the shelf and give it a dust off. Just mixing it up occasionally is enough to quell temptation. Having the QC hooked up again helps too. Just need 2-3 drive pedals and a couple of preamps to switch between when I get complacentt keep things exciting. Dunno what to do about urges for new bridges and pickups though 🫠 GAS is strongest when you don't have a musical project on the go!!!

Harley Benton multiscale single cut basses
MrDinsdale replied to MichaelDean's topic in Bass Guitars
Aye that's fair enough, I'm sure these will play excellent, especially for the price point. For me its more of a cosmetic thing, just really not a fan of single cut basses for myself. Yeah I can't justify getting a “budget” Dingwall, let alone one of their more expensive models! -
Harley Benton multiscale single cut basses

I played a Dingwall 4 string and it was pretty incredible to play, just not a fan of the looks. The only multiscale I can really get behind is the Dingwall super P/Js. If someone did a more budget multiscale in more of a Fender or Wal inspired shape is be throwing my money at it. -
I do miss my GT1000core. There's some pretty awesome stuff you can do especially when you start playing with assigns. I was playing with using the slicer, I had the pattern parameter assigned to an oscillating value. In practice it let you create a random glitching effect. You could do cool stuff like have it on a divider where it was set to give more of the glitching, the harder you play etc. Lots of cool stuff with using input level assigned to parameters like the noise gate threshold to create a more natural reduction too. Lots of fun just digging in and faffing.

Managed to get a little time to plane the top and start getting it to thickness. Looking delicious and really pleased with how the joint worked out 👌

Well I haven't bought it yet… Its so pretty though. Tbf I don't think the wife would accept that line of mental gymnastics either 🤣

If I buy a pedal I already own in a different colour it doesn't count, does it? Kind of a Double Jeopardy type situation?

Did a slight update with the new neck and adjusted the body size to be more accurate. It's still a first pass, and I need to tidy it up. I think the horns aren't quite right, and I want to tweak the scratch plate shape a little.

Haha well ill keep you posted!👌

I'll possibly see if I can make use of the wenge neck, otherwise Ill pop it on here cheap. It'd be a shame for it not to be used as its a beauty!

Well I decided the tele headstock just wasn't going to work for the bulkier t-60 style body. I decided to get a roasted maple one instead with a paddle headstock that I can peavify. Gotta say, it feels and looks great, the fret work is particularly nice. Sadly Guitar Anatomy don't do bass necks yet but apparently have plans to offer in future.

I do sometimes wonder if Boss go out of their way to make their UI for hardware and software as clunky and ugly as possible. I had similar minor grievances with the GT1000core, not a deal breaker but just enough to cause a little frustration every time I used it.

I think the intuitive interface is the main reason I love the QC. I don't think I've ever felt the need to check manuals or “how to” videos to understand features. It just does what you expect.

There is here! I'm still in! The guitar is just there to provide some background noise to play bass to.

Ahh man I was totally focused on bass purchases and forgot Im halfway through a guitar build and still have hardware to buy. Does that count or should I gracefully bow out in week 3?
-
Yeah this did cross my mind. My only reservation was having the humbucker lugs (not sure what the right term is) routed in the front. I guess I could do some rear access for them too, I imagine that could get faffy to install though!

Hey, Building a guitar (except for the neck) based on a Peavey T-60 (thread). I'd quite like add a similar scratchplate to the original but made with Wenge, it'll look excellent against the Black Limba body. Has anyone got any experience making wood scratchplates? Wondering what thickness is recommended and if anyone re-enforced it at all? I was thinking probably 5mm but it'll be pretty high. Would be a faff but could maybe inset it a couple of mm into the body?

Just had to go on some gear sites looking for some kids drumsticks for my daughter. Managed to buy them without accidentally purchasing any pedals or basses 👌 (not that I can afford)

A half dsp QC in a stomp-like enclosure with captures and support for plugins would be the dream, bonus for a 2nd fx loop and a DI. Personally Im not super attached to the idea that a multifx should replace my entire pedalboard, I'm more than happy to add in my own comp, preamp or whatever else I feel I'm missing.
-
Yeah certainly an option. For now I'm trying something quite unexpected and dealing with it rather than splashing out lots of money or hacking it to bits. Its not too bad after a while of getting used to it, especially when I'm not being lazy with muting technique as a decent chunk of time I'm resting on the other strings anyways. Gear acquisition averted (for now) 👌

Still love my Handbox WB100 although never get chance to use it. Need to find a band!!!

Yeah inconsistency bugs me a lot. Top mounted is a huge win for me although having pedals that close can require some accurate foot work. The Canvas tuner is the worst offender yet for me. ✔️Top mounted jacks ❌ Side power jack ❌ Opposite side for the USB and menu buttons It does look pretty though…
