  1. It largely depends on the rig you're playing through and the kind of sound you're aiming for. I like ditching the preamps and drives when I'm noodling at home occasionally for a change but it doesn't fit the music I'm playing in the band I'm in. There's other times ive just taken a straight DI and tweaked the EQ slightly and it's fit perfectly.
  2. Its thick and chewy 👌
  3. Just picked up a Crazy Tube Circuits Venus on eBay, it recreates the BK Butler Tube Driver, so far I'm having a lot of fun with it. Pairs great with the 0xEAE Bass Driver too. I put together a very quick (and sloppy) play through with my favourite sounds:
  4. Small alterations to accommodate the new Crazy Tube Circuits Venus, so far really loving it. Honestly the HX One, Dagger and OC-5 are there as filler for the current project and my pedalboard needs. I tried making a more compact board but the massive 0xEAE Bass Driver just takes up a ridiculous amount of space. This attempt will upset a lot of folks here I suspect 🤣 Even I couldn't stomach the sideways pedals 🤣
  5. At this stage I think its just down to if the Anagram has the features you need right now. Its far too early to see what their feature release cadence will be or where the platform will be a year from now. If you're ok with the footprint of the QC, its a pretty mature ecosystem which already does a lot. The capture collection is vast too, I found everything I was looking for, even less common stuff. I'm intrigued by the Anagram but not really interested in any of the stock preamps/drives and most of the stuff I’d want is absent from the NAM captures. If the capture process was a bit more refined and they had a better variety of non-darkglass stuff covered out of the box itd be a far more tempting proposition for me personally.
  6. The one on the core is very cool, you can set parameters like Pattern via assigns to oscillate through options etc to give a cool glitch effect
  7. Check back in a year and you never know, I might have cut it out 👌
  8. I spent a week practicing ace of spades to get it up to speed for a low-key birthday bash, finally got it up to tempo and solid. Started playing and all was good, felt great, everyone kicked in and I realised I was in the wrong key… I'd been practicing it in EADG but decided to tune down to Eb as it felt better to play but totally reverted to playing it half a step down. Everyone was really drunk apart from me thankfully so don't think anyone noticed 🤣
  9. After downsizing my office to make room for the offspring Im finding myself extremely short on space. My Hercules 6 guitar tree just isn't practical for the space any more so need a more compact, preferably integrated solution. Ive got a 3x4 kallax on the back wall, the plan is to get a sheet of 25mm hardwood ply to build some integrated shelving with build in space for 5-6 basses/guitars to stack vertically. Just finishing up a sketch but wondered if anyone else had done similar?
  10. The final shape I'm going with, once ive got in hand I might take a bit off here and there but generally very happy with it 👌
  11. A long overdue update that the body is finally thicknessed and ready to work on. Next step is to get the updated template printed and get chopping.
  12. I think they ditched loopback when they moved away from FireWire but I may be wrong. USB-C units definitely don't have it from what ive read
  13. Very nice! My current setup is mostly for work, have my mac mini for personal stuff. Recently had to give up my office for the offsprings new bedroom so been struggling to downsize to about half the space. Finally gave up on dual screens and studio monitors and have had to make do with a more humble setup more fit for the new space: Going to make a new desk top once ive got a few other house bits out of the way with some better cable management, some speaker stands and a shelf to house the kvm and interface etc. I really want a way to integrate my midi controller too, perhaps on a sliding tray. Until then it'll do!
  14. Just scored one on eBay at a decent price so hopefully should have it in a few days. Need to sort out the wiring on my desk and get everything set up properly ready for it. It'll be nice not having to deal with USB-B cables and just being able to use my existing USB-C cables for pretty much everything 🙌
  15. The latency is a big selling point. The latency with my 1st gen Scarlett is fine by itself but when you start piling on NDSP plugins etc any reduction is a big win.
  16. That's good to hear, Im gonna keep an eye out for good deals and hopefully grab one soon👌
  17. To be honest after doing a bunch of research and chatting to folks, I think I'm going to take a punt with the Motu M4. It ticks all the boxes for me, the side-by-side comparisons ive heard sounded marginally better to my ears and they can be found for a great price. Ive never had any issues with my Scarlett but sucks to hear you had a bad time with the Clarett.
  18. Just realized sed the Clarett doesn't have Loopback which is a real shame as that'd be a really handy feature for what I need. Given Id be looking at the 2pre I wouldn't have the inputs to setup my own loopback etc. Maybe I'll just stick with the Scarlett, for demo stuff and doing little videos for social media I don't think the difference in audio quality would quite offset the ease of use that the Scarlett offers. Nothing to see here 🤣
  19. I'm sorry for the epic necro however I wonder how things stand up with the later range of devices? I'm currently trying to weigh up a Clarett+ 2Pre vs Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen. I currently have a 1st gen Scarlett 2i2, but looking to do more re-amping etc so need 2 inputs and 4 outputs. Does the Clarett+ still have an edge on the newer Scarlett range of devices in terms of audio quality? I do appreciate how the features of the Scarlett are accessible via hardware controls vs software, I do on occasion use the interface directly into my phone for some quick videos and demos etc which means I wouldn't have access to those options.
  20. So tempted to buy the Longsword back 🤣
  21. First Bass Owned: Tanglewood Warrior (that bass was passed around most of the bass players where I lived at some point). 'Go To' Bass: Schecter Exotic P4 DIY modded with Turner Multicoils and Lusithand NFP. 'Your' Bass: Yamaha BB1024x, recent addition but just instantly gets the sound I need for 90% of occasions.
  22. I think the Templeboard Solo is the perfect size for my needs, not sure I can justify another board on top of my RB 2.1 and 3.0 though!
  23. Ive actually switched up the Longsword for the MAE Black Math since taking this picture but very happy with the angry tones I get out of this. It can get pretty gnarly 👌 Heres a quick jam featuring The Accountant > Dagger > Model FeT > Bass Driver > Opus (with power amp and Science IRs):
  24. I love it, there's a few times ive had an idea, connected to my phone and recorded a quick video with the audio from the Go that would've otherwise been long forgotten. I love that I can play bass in the garden while my daughter's playing too. It also sounds great considering how compact it is.
