  1. Right, changed my mind. Haven't touched this in a long time and can't see that changing in the future. I've decided that I'm going to go with lopping the wings an cap off, narrowing the neck by 1.5mm on either side to make a 42mm nut and 19mm spacing at the bridge. For the new wings/cap I'm going to use black limba or similar, possibly a pale moon ebony top. Pickups will be 2 Turner multicoil humbuckers in a Wal like configuration with a Lusithand pre. This is the shape I'm thinking, decided against a scratch plate. Lots of work but I think it'll be well worth it, thankfully still have lots of offcuts from the neck laminates in a box somewhere which will help with patching!
  2. Gonna have to read this thread (and YouTube content) from the beginning. Was thinking about either modding a Schecter P4 Exotic with some of the Turner multi coil pickups in a Wal-like config or building a new bass with them. Not going for a Wal replica by any stretch but it'd be cool to get in a similar ballpark.
  3. Yet more flip-flopping. Decided while the MOD Dwarf is a lot of fun, it's surplus to requirements for band stuff. It introduces latency and just presents a potential point of failure. So now I have a business board and a fun board. All the stuff for the band on a ready to go board the the Dwarf on a separate board for experimenting and guitars. I've added a little FX send from my pedalboard patch bay now so I can easily connect the Dwarf (currently in the Capo post FX loop) for delays and the fancy reverbs etc.
  4. Hmm maybe I'll grab one when funds are available and give it a go. I think tonally it sits nicely where my Longsword currently sits except a little more exaggerated in both fizz and bottom end thanks to the clean blend. Still enjoying it?
  5. Selling this DG Hyper Luminal, great compact compressor that can replicate a few different models in one unit. While it sounds great and provides lots of tonal options, perfect for those who like a solid transparent compression, it's not really getting used as I think I've come to terms with the fact I just don't need compression on my board. There are tons of glowing reviews about this unit but any questions fire away! Boxed, £150 posted
  6. That Alma comp looks excellent, really love what I've heard. Tbf I loved the sound of the ground n pound too but I alread have two very good drives and can't justify more... or can I?

  8. Maybe a midi controlled loop switcher? Think Disaster Area do a small loop switcher and a dual midi footswitch you could configure to toggle and bypass. Not sure what the max length of a midi cable is but I'm sure it would suffer less from distances than audio.
  9. Technically however I'm running a current doubler for the Mod Dwarf as it's 12v and fairly ambiguous as to it's power requirements. I have had it running off a single 500ma output but made me feel a little uneasy! I also figured as I had the C4 kicking about I may as well use it, got one more pedal to add hopefully soon!
  10. Few tweaks, got the midi baby 3 added, popped my Cioks4 under to power the Dwarf. Was in a rush so needs some tidying! Need some more cables but once I get it fixed I'm thinking of making a raiser and putting the EAE Model FeT, Longsword and Halberd on the top row with the correct orientation had considered fitting on a mini expression pedal but will probably have it wired up to the Rockboard mod patchbay so I can quickly add it on if needed.
  11. Shocked it's still there! Love the WB100, can't imagine selling mine. I think it's the only head other than the VBA400 that I've plugged in and instantly fallen in love with.
  12. Right, I've ordered a Disaster Area Midi Baby 3, its the right size, shape and features I need. Has Exp options too. Think it should fit in nicely with the dwarf 🙌
  13. Ace, will need to have a think as currently I'm relying on having a row of pedals behind the dwarf, this would force me to rethink some of that layout quite a bit!
  14. Fuzz! I want to experiment with blending drives in plus we have a few tunes where a volume would be super handy. Also playing with delays and modulation and binding the expression to different parameters can give you some pretty cool sounds.
  15. Currently trying to weigh up options to extend the Dwarf foot switches and adding an expression. Things I've considered are: * Boss EV-1- WL midi expression with the option to connect a footswitch to it later. * a midi footswitch with an analog expression pedal jack. I don't have a huge amount of space to play with the morningstar 3 switch is a pretty good fit and a dunlop mini dvp would help save space. The Boss one sounds great on paper and I could connect to my laptop to control vst stuff etc but apparently it's a nightmare to setup and has loads of usability issues.
  16. Can this run off a USB cable to the mod dwarf?
  17. It's incredibly handy, especially if you're using any of their convolution reverbs and amp models which can get pretty heavy on cpu.
  18. Jad Freer Capo preamp/DI and the EAE Halberd (Which I own) I suspect the new Lusithand Alma compressor would be a good candidate based on the reviews.
  19. That looks excellent, the indicator and ratio are a very nice touch.
  20. Yeah fantastic amps, proper workhorse too, had mine about 15 years and the only service it required was a little cleaning of some dust that had built up from not getting used regularly. When the person came to grab it and give it a quick try I instantly regretted my decision 😂
  21. I miss my GK 700rb, sold it a while back for virtually nothing when I wasn't really doing much music stuff along with my 410rbh. Awesome gear!
  22. Start simple would be my suggestion and where possible aim for keeping unity gain throughout. First up check that you have your input levels right on the Dwarf. I usually start with getting an IR if I'm not playing through a physical amp. There are some excellent free bass ones from Shiftline that I use over all the premium ones I've acquired over time. Next up I'd usually get a preamp added. I had to put all the preamps in a line and audition them all one at a time. When you find one you don't like just remove it until you've narrowed it down. I often check signals by turning stuff off and on and checking there's no significant change to loudness. Once I've gotten a core tone with preamp and cab sim in place I'll start on adding always on stuff. Compression is subjective, personally with physical compressors I favour it up front rather than last. For digital boards you don't have the same physical constraints so you can easily play around. I'm a big fan of very light compression at either end although my valve amp adds a little squish anyway. PS the Molot compressor in the beta store is excellent, just pop on the bass preset, drop the ratio a little and go. Drives are tricky, I've not found any on the Dwarf which quite do it for me. I've taken to blending two and then EQ them on a separate channel so I can quickly switch between. As for modulation and delays/reverb thats an area way out of my comfort zone so I'm still finding out what works for me. Same approach though, lots of auditioning of different fx and creating a shortlist of ones I like. It's really subjective and while I'd suggest take any suggestions with a pinch of salt a lot of the rules make for a good starting point. The Dwarf ecosystem is incredibly overwhelming, anything you can do to slim down the number of plugins is worthwhile. I personally uninstalled loads I wasn't keen on.
  23. Something definitely doesn't sound right there. I'd have imagined the two10 buckling waaay before the r400.
  24. Only one at the moment, my Handbox WB100. Would love to grab another smaller backup, perhaps a GSS Sumo. If I had the money I'd grab a Jad Freer Sisma they look incredible. Worst case scenario I can resort to going straight through the PA from my pedalboard. It sounds fine but it's nowhere near as fun.
  25. Na, unfortunately that's at a hardware level according to FalkTX, I have a similar issue as I use the channels as an FX loop so channel 1 goes between my pedals and preamp and channel 2 goes between the preamp and DI. Seems like a pretty big oversight considering how many use it for multiple instruments or vocals + guitar etc. You can remedy it with adapters I guess though.
