1. OK, considering that I used a boss bass overdrive, 3(ish) mics, and a DI channel going through some EQing. I think I did pretty well to get this! oh and I've boosted the bass track a little on this recording so you can hear it better Enjoy! EDIT uploading....
2. Woohoo, just played my first wedding gig. OK it was the service, but it paid well - £100 in fact. Not only my best-paid paid gig yet, but also my shortest! We did FOUR songs. Meaning the groom paid £75 each time we played. Anyway, it was acoustic guitar, drums and me Was really cool playing with 2 world-class musicians. Time Cooke the drummer who has played huge stuff. I mean proper huge. Plays 'newday' - 6000+ people. Is playing 'Soul Survivor' this year - 25,000+ people over 3 weeks. The guitarist/singer Martin Cooper who has released a solo instrumental album, and has played with Paul Oakley and a load of other people. So here I am, the little bassist who has probably never held £100 in cash before, suggesting we should play a E/B instead of E/A to make it more melodic. ...and they listened!! Thankfully we got paid before (and made jokes about having £20 taken away for each muck-up ), which is great cos it wasn't like "hey I know you just got married, but we want money!" It was a good crowd of about 300(?) people there. Had a blast, and am very grateful that I am a kind of '2nd call' kind of person (behind Mark Prentice, but probably in front of Les Moir and Paul Stevens!! - google them). A success! Didn't get to the buffet before the guests
3. Tuner (ok, it's not an effect - but it does help my sound!!) --------- Synth (EHX BMS) Overdrive Wah. and all 3 at the same time!!
4. Yeah, I saw that thread and it's what inspired me to make this one. I thought it would be easier for me to have them all in one place, and then people don't have to trawl through pages looking for a venue. I'm just going to start putting some up now!
5. Can you get MicroKORG sounds from this? was the microKORGF modelled off this?

10. I'm sorry, but the best chocolate is clearly ASDA smart price white chocolate!!
11. OK, so there's a lot of venue-searching going on, so I thought it would be a good idea to whack them up onto one thread with this first post containing things like: Venue, Capacity, Reccommended genres, Website. And then for the locations: England North-West Ruby Lounge - Manchester North-East Yorkshire & Humber Cockpit/New Roscoe/Wardrobe/Brudenall Social Club/Faversham/Irish Centre/Rio's/Fenton - Leeds West Midlands East Midlands East Of England Barhouse, Chelmsford, large capacity, The Twist, Colchester, Chinnerys, Southend-on-Sea, London The Waterats, Kings Cross (BE CAREFUL!! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=water+rats) South-East The West End Centre, Aldershot, 200-300 capacity The Boileroom, Guildford. South-West West Midlands East Midlands Wales Scotland -------------------------------------------- Now I'm a bit of a gigging noob, so I don't really know of any venues that are that good around me. I'm relying on people to post here with venues they can trust. My goal isn't to get 100 venues on here, it's to get the most trusted venues on here. I'll do my best to visit daily here, updating the post as I go!
12. How about playing the Spinal tap song 'Christmas with the Devil'? EDIT and how about playing it in a church?

20. OK, I'm not a huuuge jazzer, but I find it a lot easier to solo with some accompanyment - usually just drums, but it's what the song asks for. One of the main reasons why I don't play a huge amount of jazz is because it kind of gets a biiiit repetative *ducks*. I just think that you can hava lot more options when you can solo in a band with AND without accompanyment. So you can have breaks in oen song with crazy bass filling, and then in another song you can have a very melllow just bass solo. just my opinion!

ahhh, I've been asked to play at a wedding service (the worship music stuff) with a drummer (Tim Cooke) and acoustic g-tarder/singer (Martin Cooper) this saturday and I'm getting paid 100 quid! Funnily enough, the first ever live performance was filling in for my cousin (Carl Stanbridge) for 'superstition' at a wedding for 1 song. I got mah bass solo!
22. I'm a tad paranoid when it comes to buying basses - especially expensive (over £200 :brow:) basses - and gear. I mean, it kinda feels better going into GAK and trying out stuff, and then handing over cash to guys who you know arn't going to screw you over. it's paranoia! Effects I'm a bit better on - I'd happily buy a £150 effect from someone on here as long as i've either heard extensive reviews and sound clips of it and/or tried out the effect for myself.
