1. Hi, up for sale is this magnificent Hartke Kilo 1000 watts amp. In my opinion, it's easily as good, if not better, than any valve amp I've owned or played through (Ampeg, Aguilar etc). It gives you all the power you need and puts you in control of your sound - coming complete with an overdrive, compressor and 10-band graphic equaliser. I've only used it a couple of gigs - and I'm including a footswitch (details below). Reason for sale? No gigs and I need the money, but I'll be gutted to see it go. The amp is in excellent condition and perfect working order. As you'll see from one of the pictures, there's a small scratch on the top - unnoticeable on stage or in a rack. Here's the write-up and specifications from the Samson site: "The Kilo delivers 500 watts at 2 ohms of power per side in stereo mode, and a massive 1,000 watts at 4 ohms in the bridged mono mode. To sculpt your sound, the Kilo has an all-tube class-A preamp, and logically arranged tone controls. The amp offers a classic tone stack three-band EQ, with Hartke's variable Shape circuit. For additional tone shaping, there is a 10-band graphic equalizer, as well as selectable Deep and Brite EQ curves. To add some "dirt" to your sound, there is a variable tube Overdrive circuit, and to round out the dynamics, there is a fast and articulate Compressor circuit. To connect your amplifier to speaker cabinets, the Kilo has both Speakon® and 1/4-inch output jacks. It also provides an abundance of connections and signal routing features, including multi-point direct output switching, stereo Effects Loop, front and rear panel tuner outputs and footswitch jacks to remotely control the Mute, Overdrive, EFX, and EQ functions. Not only does it pack optimal tone control and more than enough power to drive any cabinet, the Kilo's rugged design is perfect for life on the road. Its solid 3-rackspace construction, solid die cast front panel and oversized handles make the Kilo an eminently road-worthy."

Stereo amps offer 500 watts per side at 2 ohms - and 1000 watts at 4 ohms in bridged mono mode
Class-A all tube (3 x 12AX7) high-voltage preamp circuit
Classic 3-band tone stack equalizer with variable 'shape' control
Selectable 'Deep' and 'Brite' EQ curves
Variable compressor
10-band constant-q graphic equalizer with independent level control
Variable tube overdrive
Stereo effect loop send and return jacks
Dedicated front panel switches and footswitch jacks for mute, overdrive, effects, and EQ
Multi-point direct output with level control
Speakon® and 1⁄4-inch parallel output connectors
Front and rear panel tuner output jacks
Separate left and right channel preamp out and amplifier in jacks
Rugged three-rackspace construction
Solid die-cast front panel and oversized front panel handles
Also included:

Stage Line FS-202 footswitch - enabling you to switch on/off the mute and overdrive, or EQ (graphic equaliser) and effects loop. I found it useful when changing playing styles between songs - such as going from fingers to plectrum. One stomp would engage the equaliser, giving me more bottom end when playing with a plectrum. 2.
+1 for the Vox, was going to comment but I forgot what it was called
Thanks Myke. I'm guessing you can plug an mp3 player into these too, and play along?
  3. Thanks for those! All these choices are new to me, I'll check them out - much appreciated.
Hi, You could try the Vox am Plug Bass headphone amp with headphones - not at all bad. ONly little more than £30.

Or the Tascam GTR1. I used to use (and still have) a MP-BT1 and used it regularly until I got the GTR-1. GTR1 has basic rhythms in it as well, and can record etc, but if you don't want those then MP-BT1 is great (and cheaper).
4. Thanks Pete, that looks great. It's on the shopping list, cheers. Steve
  5. Hi folks, apologies if this has been asked/discussed before. I'm going to Italy on Wednesday and would like to practice tracks in the hotel room. I have Mp3 files of the tracks - for iPod/CD. Can anyone recommend a really titchy amp/practicing/play along solution? Thank you! Steve
  6. Fantastic dealings with this man! A credit to Basschat.
  7.
don't particularly wanna fill the room with bass when the level I want my rig at is too loud for the rest of the room.
As an owner of a Barefaced Super 12, do you find this is a problem?
  8. Is Barefaced's ability to spread sound quite evenly across a stage a problem? In which case, standard cabs pushing sound just straight ahead would be a positive? I'm talking about gigs with PAs here.
  9. Great guitar and bass sound. Did you mic up cabs or record direct using amp simulations?
  10. Nick recently bought a power supply from me - he's a great chap. Thanks Nick!
  11. Just bought a rack case from Stevie - brilliant - and a great bloke.
  12. Andy just bought a couple of tubes from me - great chap! Thanks.
  13. Chris bought a music stand from me - great chap!
  14. I seriously doubt an Ampeg 810 could compete with the full-and-fruity-frequency-range abilities of two Barefaced cabs. And as you're a tall chap, if you're sticking with the one cab, why not pop it on one of these? (Draped in black material - as recently recommended by a wise Basschatter, whose name escapes me right now). 15.
Your amp will run at 2 ohm, so I'd look at another S12.
+1.
  16. Alex bought two Hartke Hydrives from me - he's a top man. Thanks Alex! Steve

  18. Why not just carry a decent bass DI, so if any or all of your amps go down, you can go through the PA? Not ideal for onstage sound purposes, but a quick fix - and cheaper and lighter than lugging extra amps around.
