  1. I was waiting for the drummer to accompany the man.
  2. I used to go into Around About Sound a bit. Was a great shop. Is it still open.? Had a very rare GB Spitfire 4 in there that was being sold by the owner. Bought a great Yamaha TRB 6 for £600.
  3. I went into Guitar Guitar in Glasgow a while back. I asked if I could play a Sadowsky Metro from the wall.It was a lovely UV70 5 string in black. The more expensive instruments are put higher on the wall of course. The guy got it down, plugged it in, and then let me and the shop listen to some of his chops, before he let me play the bass...... Really.?
  4. I don't necessarily associate selling lots of records and keeping folk happy, a job well done.
  5. Im not a huge fan but I dig some of his stuff. The reason I say this, is his latest record, Finesse, is a total rip off of some classic 90's soul dance like Bobby Brown, Bel Biv Devoe,s Poison, etc. Im feeling a little let down by him and his direction towards blatant commercial rip off's. His record with Mark Ronson was a cheesy poppy nod to Cameo, Prince etc etc. It all feels a little cheap lately.
  6. Love this. Julian Crampton bass groove Magic. !! Nice one RoRi.
  7. Anyone have any experience with these cabs.?
  8. Record yourself playing along to a track. recording yourself gives you a hugely different perspective on what your playing, and how well you are playing.. But yeah like Ambient says. Depending where you are of course. Not a huge amount of good dedicated bass teachers in the shires, etc
  9. I would say it come down to wood preference look wise. I would say you can find the Bubinga model with the preamp at a better price. Only something to think about before you pull the trigger. Just a matter of scanning the second hand market. A fretless sold on BC for £510 a while back.
  10. A shop is always going to be more expensive. There are plenty of superb second hand exampes on here and elsewhere, way cheaper than that. Imo
  11. Lovely bass, even better price.
  12. Haven't played one. But like the V7 they get great reviews. Andertons have them on there All about the Bass reviews.
  13. For anyone who might be interested, Incognito are playing at the O2 Academy in Bristol on March the 16th. Starts at 6.30. Carleen Anderson is in attendance also. They rarely come to this side of the country. an hour away from me, so I'm soooo going. https://academymusicgroup.com/o2academybristol/events/1075291/incognito-carleen-anderson-tickets
  14. I just bought a Sire V7 5. Alder/ rosewood. One of the best Jazz basses I've ever played. The preamp just sounds epic.. Watch the ash ones though. I had an ash 5ver and it was heavy. It' the reason I went for the alder. It's hard to get your head around the price. Mine was £426. Delivered.
  15. When using an 8ohm 112 cab, (for convenience on small rehearsal) with a 600w amp your only getting 300 watts right.? What are you listening for, so you don't blow the speaker.? Or is it the amp that can get damaged.?
  16. A subjective question no doubt. ! A reasonable amount of ability involved of course. But really important things to think about, for a good bass player, is reliability, and a good attitude.. If I were to hire a bass player, I would want these. You don't need to have incredible chops to be a great bass player.
  17. The ultimate modern 70,s Jazz Bass.
