  1. Love this. Julian Crampton bass groove Magic. !! Nice one RoRi.
  2. Anyone have any experience with these cabs.?
  3. Record yourself playing along to a track. recording yourself gives you a hugely different perspective on what your playing, and how well you are playing.. But yeah like Ambient says. Depending where you are of course. Not a huge amount of good dedicated bass teachers in the shires, etc
  4. I would say it come down to wood preference look wise. I would say you can find the Bubinga model with the preamp at a better price. Only something to think about before you pull the trigger. Just a matter of scanning the second hand market. A fretless sold on BC for £510 a while back.
  5. A shop is always going to be more expensive. There are plenty of superb second hand exampes on here and elsewhere, way cheaper than that. Imo
  6. Lovely bass, even better price.
  7. Haven't played one. But like the V7 they get great reviews. Andertons have them on there All about the Bass reviews.
  8. For anyone who might be interested, Incognito are playing at the O2 Academy in Bristol on March the 16th. Starts at 6.30. Carleen Anderson is in attendance also. They rarely come to this side of the country. an hour away from me, so I'm soooo going. https://academymusicgroup.com/o2academybristol/events/1075291/incognito-carleen-anderson-tickets
  9. I just bought a Sire V7 5. Alder/ rosewood. One of the best Jazz basses I've ever played. The preamp just sounds epic.. Watch the ash ones though. I had an ash 5ver and it was heavy. It' the reason I went for the alder. It's hard to get your head around the price. Mine was £426. Delivered.
  10. When using an 8ohm 112 cab, (for convenience on small rehearsal) with a 600w amp your only getting 300 watts right.? What are you listening for, so you don't blow the speaker.? Or is it the amp that can get damaged.?
  11. A subjective question no doubt. ! A reasonable amount of ability involved of course. But really important things to think about, for a good bass player, is reliability, and a good attitude.. If I were to hire a bass player, I would want these. You don't need to have incredible chops to be a great bass player.
  12. The ultimate modern 70,s Jazz Bass.
  13. Your favourites.? For all those that dig Soul and Funk and Groove. I can only hope it lasts as long as Pete's thread. Post your favourite soul and funk right here. This will do for now. Early Maceo Parker and the Macks. One of the best funk records I've ever heard. His sax, the drums, the bass, and the absolutely amazing horn section, never get old. Just to say this was always a follow on from Pete's old thread. I spoke to him when he was really ill. He said,.. Keep the funk going.
  14. A really cool Toto cover from a young bunch of musicians. Vocally maybe it could be brought down a key for her, she's got such a great voice.. but very mature musically all of them. Imo.
