I’m with you, I do all my setups now except the bigger stuff. I was going to get my tech guy to sort out the nut, as I normally have the a little deeper, but on both basses, they are exactly the same even though they are different materials. They feel great so I’m going with them for now. I agree about “sometimes in hindsight one can't really understand why it hadn't happened earlier.......”. I’ve started recording with them and the consistency, sound, fit makes me smile so much. I’ve started looking at the US models already. This time next year, Rodney....... 😉

I agree about the nut slots, they are definitely not deep enough, but I’ve kinda got used to that with my 2, and think I may live with them a little longer as I get used to them. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to Spector. Really happy I bit the bullet, and went down this path.

Cheers, bud. Really happy with them and they really compliment the Vigier, nicely. Hope all is well with you ☺️

My shoulder has never suffered, and touch wood that continues 😉 They do sound incredible. I’m blown away by the sound / feel of the basses. Those Violet Fade ones are gorgeous. I’m done for now....... 😂

And they are on this forum 😉

I stopped playing 6 string bass about 8 years ago. I moved to 5, and this past year, I’ve been exploring 4 string again and loving it. I still have a beautiful 5 string Vigier but haven’t owned a 6 for about 5 years. I will again, but it will be just for the studio ☺️ Hope you are well, and stay safe ☺️

I’ve just bought 2 simply wonderful, Spector basses. I decided upon a Euro Bolt 4, and a Euro LX 4. Both have Aguilar pickups, one with the OPB-2 preamp and one with a Tone Pump preamp. I’m completely and utterly enamoured with them both. They’ve had a basic set up, and need my preferred strings put on them, plus a small nut adjustment, but I’ve recorded with them, and they have blown me away. Stunning to play, and I just can’t believe I’ve not been down this route before. So happy, and Bass Direct have been fantastic helping me to get these incredible instruments ☺️

I’ve just bought 2 this past couple of weeks. I decided upon a Euro Bolt 4, and a Euro LX 4. Both have Aguilar pickups, one with the OPB-2 preamp and one with a Tone Pump preamp. Completely, and utterly enamoured with them both. They’ve had a basic set up, and need my preferred strings put on then, plus a nut adjustment, but I have recorded with them and they have blown me away. It seems it’s time to throw out a huge shout out to Mark, Ash, and Will, at Bass Direct. They’ve been looking after me so well (as always) over the past 2 weeks, and I just wanted to thank them SO much for their A1 service, their care, their time and especially their friendship. These guys ROCK!! I’ve been going to BD for over 10 years now, for everything bass related. I felt it was time that I shared my experience, and especially like so many companies, working under very difficult circumstances. They never get flustered, always listen, talk, understand, and help. Efficient, friendly, and caring. I know it sounds like a “love in”, but I just wanted to share something positive in this weir, and dark time. They deserve much recognition in my humble opinion. Anyway, pictures of my 2 new Spector purchases, soon. Stay safe. Cheers ☺️

Right, I can’t believe I’m putting this up here and trust me, it is very tentative. I bought this bass 12 months ago, and obviously, it has never been gigged or rehearsed. It is showroom condition. I had a custom pick guard made, and replaced the bridge for the way superior Babicz bridge. The frets were dressed by a top notch and trusted luthier. It plays like an absolute dream, and sounds simply amazing. The white sparkle finish is to die for. Why sell it then? Simple. I’ve fallen in love with another brand, and I simply want to own another one. It comes with the certificate, case candy, amazing Fender hard case, plus original bridge, and I’ll put the original pick guard back on it. This is in immaculate condition, and with a perfect setup. It currently has 45, 65, 85, 105 Dunlop Stainless Steel strings. It has a straight neck, fairly low action, and a beautiful compound radius neck. Happy to replace with a brand new set if this is your gauge. If not, I’ll leave the 4 month set on so you can replace with strings you prefer. Any questions, please feel free to drop me a line. Happy to post, but at the buyers cost, and of course fully insured. It will come fully packed in the original Fender box it came to me in. If you live locally to Cardiff / Penarth, I’m happy for you to collect following strict socially distanced rules. No trades please, and no silly offers, please. These are £1799.00 new, and this has had a tonne of work done on it to make it just right.

Crikey, I was thinking the exact same thing and was going to post something to the same effect. today. I obviously agree. I hope it happens.

They are trading, I’ve been buying bits and bobs off them for the past couple of months. Always responding as well. I know how busy they are with the Brexit stuff as well.

How can two versions of the same bass be *that* different?

So pleased, mate. It has gone to the right person, and home. Hope you are keeping safe ☺️ -

I had 2 Vigier Excess 5, and still have one, but though exactly the same spec, I just couldn’t bond with the later version. It went in the end to a good home as I couldn’t justify it just sat there. -
