I haven't bought Bass Player magazine for months, due to it's dwindling pages, heavy advertising, and bands/players I've never heard of. I saw the latest issue, featuring an interview with Mark King, and thought what the hell. TBH it's much better, with smaller informative articles dotted about. In fact, I think they may have taken a leaf out of BGM's style. Check it out at the news stand first, but I think they're on the way back.

The bass sound is super loud. Not that I'm complaining.

Most higher end 5s are active. Maybe a Fender US model?

I agree PLI is a pain. When I worked for an agency, most of the hotel venues required it. MU is an option, as you also get £1000 worth of gear insurance thrown in.

Paul Turner is a great player.

Getting rid of a mate shocks deep...awful if you go back a long way. Sometimes it's better to disband and start again.

www.alivenetwork.com has a list of similar bands. You might get an idea from looking at existing band names. Meanwhile, how about The Cheesemongers?

I've just watched the first DVD of this concert. It's amazing. Great quality. The playing and vocals are sublime. Bluey must be so proud.
