... Nah, i can't try it before i buy unfortunately, it's in the States! My F Bass doesn't quite bark/honk enough for me really...and to be fair, the F Bass is far more than ... Hmm...come to think of it, i'd much rather have your old Sadowsky, or Ari's old Atelier...gargh!!!
No Way mate... that Tokyo aint up for sale anymore s'up Gwilym?

Hey, dont know if any of you'd be interested as I'm in Portugal and there's shipping involved, But I'm looking to sell my EBS proline 2000 4x10 (800w @ 4 Ohm) for 500£ + shipping. Its in great shape, never had any problems with it, never been gigged, only studio usage, so, apart from some dust, in great condition. Let me know if anyone is interested, I can try to see the shipping costs for ya

doesnt make much of a diff in my case as I always use compression by itself (WHEN I use it.), but if I wanted to level out the spikes on the other pedals... hmmm.
-
lol
-
I'd actually put compression first so that all pedals get a nice clean level signal.

they're too heavy for me... seem like good basses, tried a maranello, and it sounded good, just dont think it filled my requirements having in mind the price they go for. I think the LOOKS justify the price, nothing else on the instrument is really that spankin hot. FAD?

How many items do you take to gigs?
Oh - I did once take 4 basses to a gig. This was simply because I was in the support band as well! In one band all the songs are played on a 5 string in the support they're on 4 so each set needed one bass and one spare.
see, I dont get that, just cause the 5th string is there, you Dont have to use it, well, if it confuses you anyway. -

why 3 basses guys? I just take 2 basses in hardcases, amp and voltage regulator in rack, 1 cab, and one pedalboard, including a DI (in case sh*t happens with the amp) -
Hey guys, since Im not quite a soldering-Iron-hero, I'd like to hear your input about 2 problems I'm having after recently having replaced the preamp on one of my basses with a new OBP3. I'm having 2 problems: 1) the Blend pot isnt working properly... at each of the extremes, I have the full output of one of the pups, but in the center position, they seem to cancel out, having 0% output. Did I wire it wrong? I tried to follow the scheme that came with the preamp... Or maybe the center detent pot I used isnt what I needed... 2) if I raise the trebble and mids, I get a fair bit of static in the sound... now, usually with say, a jazz bass passive harness, you've got the earth points joined on the back of one of the pots, but following the diagram, this doesnt happen. instead all the earth wires converge at the jack entrance (the spot without connectors for the jack). so, I have all the pots earth wired to that, and I have one other wire coming from the bridge, which I've connected to that as well. Something else I should have done? or didnt do? (the pot cavity's grafite spray shielded, came like that.) Additionally, and this has nothing to do with the preamp... I changed over the gotoh-type bridge for a Schaller 2000 bridge as I've a fondness for those bridges, so used the existing holes (and added 2 more as the new bridge has 5 screws instead of 3.) when I restringed and tuned the bass, I tried to set the intonation at the 12th fret and I've got a bit of a problem... the Low B string saddle is full back, and it intonates perfectly as is, at the 12th fret. the other saddles progressively go forward to intonate perfectly too... the last 2 saddles, the D & G, are fully extended and they are still sharp at the 12th... doesnt seem right... there wasnt that much of a difference in saddle position on the Gotoh bridge... something's off here... thanks in advance for your help.
Glad you found a buyer Dave. Knockout basses If it hadn't been for the shipping costs it would have been sitting next to my Kingston Heir right now.
that was a deal killer allright... managed to get shipping to spain for 40 euros... MUCH cheaper than the UK.
If I were you, I'd get rid of the rack and put the markbass in a small carry bag. The cab is going to be the same weight or lighter than a decent size combo anyway.
Hmmm, I dont know what the electrical circuits are like in bars/venues/rehearsal rooms over where you live, but out here the current isnt stable at all, and the reason I have the markbass in a rack is because I HAVE to have my QuikLok Voltage Regulator. You wouldnt believe the difference, no funny interference noises, no electrical spikes, etc. I decided to protect my investment. (but yeah, that adds about 7kg to my rack...)
Have you tried lifting the GORM Neo? I think you may be more than surprised!
I havent actually... Neo speakers are supposed to be a lot lighter right?

I've had one for about a year... not a bad amp... nice and clear, but definitely not a STAR amp... its an all rounder... for the price, doesnt sound like you'd be going wrong.
He was double jointed!
hey! I thought I was the only one that can do that... never met anyone who could drop the thumb back at 90º or more like me. I'd be interested to know from other players with the same... uh... qualities what kind of position their thumb is in when they slap... cause I cant get my thumb straight like: so, I cant use that hand position... I slap with my thumb facing down as someone who'd wear their bass on their knees...

Thanks for the great deal Shaun, would gladly do business again
I thought it looks rather more suitable as a makeshift aircraft carrier, tell me, does it float?
'Course it floats! the question is, how's the cutback on that baby? does it handle big wave riding? ps.: quite dig the design, but it has 4 strings too many for me
My point is, we are in the business of sound and should NEVER compromise on the tools we need to make those sounds as good as possible.
You make a very valid point... its made me think if I want to give up the rig I have as I'm quite happy with it. The weight thing comes from when I had the said GORM combo, back in my parents place, and I had to carry it Up and down 4 floors, with a gigbag on my back... no elevator. trust me, it was a great workout, lol.

Seriously, just how loud is this amp? by what I checked out in the manual, it blows my mind that something that small and with only a 12" can disperse 400w of raw power... how does it handle at high volumes and with basses with strong outputs like a stingray for example? does it lose definition?
There's always the 1x12 Gallien-Krueger Micro Bass combo.
Actually, thats really nice, a friend of mine has that and the extension cab. Sounds great... maybe a little underpowered for what I want but in terms of portability, thats exactly the kind of thing I'd be looking for.
Since you like Markbass maybe the 121H might be worth a try. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5484
Holy crap... 400w? in that!? if I could only try one out locally... I wonder if the single 12" is enough for all that power... wotnwhy , actually, thats something that I had thought of... apart from shroeder, are there any other options for that kind of setup?
Eden Metro - great combo though far from the lightest.
if its as heavy as my old EBS GORM 2x10, for...get...it. its easier to carry a cab and head separately than carrying that compact lead filled monster.
SWR Redhead? Apart from the weight criteria, I think you are ruling out a few amplifiers that get the sound you want by not wanting a Trace, Ampeg or Warwick.
Well, I could be generalizing it, but I've never liked the sound of an Ampeg or a trace. and Warwick to me doesnt sound bad, but it doesnt sound good either... its... a sterile sound. Ampeg eats up highs, and trace is a fart machine that I usually associate with oldie rock. yes, the "ETCS" are terrible too. lol
