1.
It says here... http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/...EN&wb_dis=2 that they will limit sales of the fender Japan commodity only to Japan. Does that mean they won't sell one to me? Or is it just a statement with no substance?
I've just emailed Jeff at Ishi and he has given me a price inc shipping to UK. So, they are selling to UK
2. I use Shure E2s with my Tascam and also for live monitoring. They handle my Low B no problem, with no farting and are brilliant. I'd like to hear the Bose ones mentioned above just as a comparison.
3.
Can you get a CIJ Alder bodied, Jazz necked, P bass from Ishibashi? If so I would be most grateful for a link. Thnaks Sean.
Sean I've asked exactly the same question, and Itchyscratchy said no, they can't interchange necks. You'll have to buy a Jazz and swap bits round!
4.
All you Lakland lovers out there....... What would be the chances of finding a 5-string Jerry Scheff these days. Armstrong stopped making the 5-string pick-ups - forcing Dan to stop making them - is that right ? I really am kicking myself for not getting one a couple of years ago. If anyone has one they may be letting go of in the near future please get in touch ! Bill
Can I tempt you with a 55-94?
5.
<[email protected]> there ya go! Email in English.. They do speak very good english (better than me, no doubt!) and are fantastic. If you know what you want, (which it appears you do) then you are halfway there! That model is available and likely to be a colour choice. I believe they most likely is black with a tort guard, as it tends to be the favourite in that model. My contact there was called Hiroaki and was an absolute star!
Thanks Dood - just the response I wanted. Cheers
6. Thanks Mike. You don't wanna do a deal with your '68 Jazz do you?? Worth a try!!
7. Have they stopped making those now? They've always looked good value. You must have big biceps (or you soon will have!)
8. I couldn't work out that ishibashi website! I clicked on 'email' to make an enquiry and it was all in japanese! I managed to get to a page of all different makes of used basses, but not new ones. If I want a new PB62-78US can they get me one? If someone has a link to their new basses or an email address that I can use, I'd be grateful. Thanks Ian
9. Here is my rig. These new DB112 cabs are awesome! Basses are custom Sirius headless models.
10. Thanks guys. Where's the best place to get new ones?
11. Hi, I understand one is 'made' and the other is 'crafted', but can someone explain the differences? Which is best, and how they compare to MIA's. Thanks Ian
12.
+1 if I had the dosh, this is the 5-ver I'd buy - best o' luck with the sale.... needs a good home.
Thanks mate. I see from you avatar you're a Laky fan. It is a great bass - its just a bout of GAS!
13.
Is that gold hardware or is it just the lighting? Looks beautiful !!
Its the lighting. The hardware is chrome.
14. Thanks. It is a really pretty bass. I had an Overwater 36" scale, and that was bit of a stretch, but going from 34 to 35 was fine.
15. I've decided it's time for a change, and really fancy a Nordy VJ5, so I'm having to sell my US Lakland 55-94 to finance it. I emailed Dan Lakin and he confirmed it's a 1997 bass. Transluscent blue over quilted maple bookmatched facing, with great birdseye maple fingerboard. Fantastic condition - just one small nick on the top radius and a very small nick round the edge of the truss rod recess. The original beige hardcase is in great condition. Everything on the bass works as it should. The MM/J pickup configuration makes for a very versatile bass. I'm looking for £1250. Thanks, Ian
16.
'Relicing' might be fascinating in a 'how the hell do you actually do it in a convincing manner' sort of way... But the whole principle of it is just so *phoney* - I mean, it's basically a lie; remember stonewashed jeans? Relicing is done to confer 'mojo' (whatever that is) on an instrument. There is no shortcut to this. But more importantly it is done to confer 'mojo' on the player. There is no shortcut to this either. I remember over 20 years ago some photographers would buy a new Nikon F3 and wear the black paint down to the metal, on the corners. They just couldn't bear to be thought of as 'new'. But it's all a deceit, a symptom of impatience, and what's the point of that?
Nicely put in words what most of us are thinking!!
