1. Year of birth bass for me. 😍 Get thee behind me..............
2. The 'smaller' heads such as the AH250 SMX, AH200SM and numerous others are all 2 unit Rack size (height). The larger heads such as the AH350, 400, 600 and some of the earlier ones are 3 Unit rack size. They are also far deeper front to back.
3. I should think so. Is Dick Turpin about??? 👀
4.
I never use the preshape either, sounds good at home but in a band gig situation you need the mids, I've gone from cutting the mids (around the 600hz area) slightly to leaving them alone and having the the bottom three sliders (GP12) right down, anything below 100hz tends to cause boom, on my set up anyway
Just to clarify, you're quite right that the famed pre-shape 1 just gets lost in the mix. However, using a combination of the graphic and the pre-shapes can give you a very wide range of very usable tones that cut through any mix. Also, just using pre-shape 2 on its own (adjusting the EQ balance to suit the room) has got me straight out of many 'lost in the mix' situations over the years.
5. Well after all that faffing, it turns out that the Black plate on my 2011 Squier VM Precision fits! 🙄 Now I know some people may want to stone me for swapping them over, but I for one think they both look great.
6.
My advice is to use a proper (i.e.old range) TE head and then other (i.e. lighter) cab, or cabs. Any Trace AH200 or AH250 head (whatever the letters afterwards) should have ample power with a decent cab. Remember that their full wattage is into a 4 ohm load. So if you are to use an 8 ohm cab (like me) you will get less volume and will need some decent speaker surface area - I use a good 8 ohm 4x10 - to get good volume. I used to gig an AH250 head for quite a while through a 2x12, although it was 4 ohms. Both rigs have happily coped with 2 x guitar , pretty loud drummer rock bands. If you can get your hands on an AH250SMX that would be my ultimate recommendation. IMO, the SMX range are pretty much the pinnacle of bass amp design.
+ 1 to this. When I got back into playing a few years back I was given the same advice. An old school Trace head through a lightweight cab is the perfect combination and an AH200 or my fave the 250SMX are ideal. The larger old heads (e.g. Uv lamp models) are great too but they are considerably heavier than the 2u heads. I personally would go for a model that has both pre-shape 1 and 2. Good luck!
7. Ditto Looper pedal in brand new condition. Bought 18 months ago for my guitarist daughter, she tried it once and it's been sat in its box ever since!

11.
I have two of the RoqSolid and one Hot Covers. They're both fine but for the base level the Hot Covers one has a bit more padding. Also offers the opportunity for either a bit of amusement or a bit of a disaster as they tend to keep their shape when empty, so when you leave it in the corner inevitably someone will try to sit on it. On the other hand it's quite useful turned upside down with your coats, soft gig bags etc. stuffed in it at gigs.
😂 Stop it now 😂😂👍👍
12. As a few above, I was using 45-65-80-100 for a good few years but I've recently gone fully light 40-60-80-100
13. 😳 frightening
14. Recently bought this off the forum but there's been a change of plan 🙄. Hipshot BT2 Bass Xtender (De-Tuner) in Nickel finish. In excellent condition, complete in its packaging, with mounting screws and replacement ferrule. Yours for £45 posted in mainland U.K.

16.
I put a Squier branded scratchplate on my Silver series P. It was a direct fit.
Was that listed as a particular Squier model? Do you have a link to where you bought it from?
17. Bought a lovely bass from Chris today. Met half way and had a great chat about all things bass. Top chap. Thanks again
18.
Vinyl wrap could be your friend is easy to apply and easily reversable and cheap
Ooh tell me more. That sounds like it could be the quickest/easiest solution and as you say, it's reversible.
19.
Try dangleberry music on ebay they sell these but have a template you can download so you know if you plate will fit correctly
Many thanks. The tort may grow on me, but I do like a black one on sunburst 😍
20. Hi all I'm going to have a look at a Silver Series Squier P today. It looks rather lovely, however if I buy it I may want to fit a black scratchplate instead of the tort one that's fitted. Does anybody know of a supplier or model of plate that would fit 'off the shelf'? Cheees
21. Bought a Hipshot Bass Xtender from Graeme. Great communication, item exactly as described and prompt delivery. Top Baschatter! In fact I enjoyed the experience so much, I just might have to buy something else off him very shortly 😁
22. Just sold my gorgeous Black Stingray to Mark. Met up as agreed and had a good chat about all things bass (some very nice playing too may I say Mark) Great communication throughout and a thoroughly nice chap to boot. Trade with complete confidence - top fella 👍 All the best Mark and I hope you come to a decision on which neck to go with ;-)
