Wait, is this one http://www.ebay.com/...Y-/221180920778?
I think that is a US made limited edition (40 or so only) with NOS humbuckers and is different to, as well as much more expensive than, the Thomann model above which is apparently called Newark Street Collection.. See the relevant threads at the Let's Talk Guild forum. Here's the rumoured to be Korean version: http://www.lamusic.c.../3792400866.htm -

Thomann are showing these with a price but they also say: 'The item you selected is currently unavailable and the distributor is probably unable to deliver at short notice.' Is someone making these again or are they merely unavailable because they've been unavailable for years?
Blimey! I read somewhere that one of The Shadows bassists was electrocuted and killed when his amp short circuited! I don't think it was a live gig thank God!!
John Rostill - in his home studio.

Who are the most reliable large online bass dealers ??
EssentialTension replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion
Never had any problems with GAK or Thomann. -
In my present band we all have a veto. Everyone must want (or at least agree) to play a song, whether it's a band original or a version of someone else's song, or we don't do it. Before the veto is operated a discussion about and rehearsals of the song must take place - these can sometimes be fairly brief. However, most decisions are straightforwardly unanimous.
Its certainly confusing to be accused of bias, when you made such an objective statement.
There was very little objective about it and objectivity is no guarantee of a lack of bias anyway. -
Well here endeth the debate. Fender die hards (as usual) will not hear a word said against the company - and are willing to accept poor QC and flawed / loose joints. I am sure that Fender really appreciate your continued support. Your loyalty and willingness to accept a low standard of finish works to their advantage. It is nice for them to know that any bass with the F word on the headstock is above reproach! The objective amongst us however feel Fender could step their game up and match companies like Lakland who consistently build Fender style basses to a higher standard of fit and finish for less cash. You make your choice and pay your hard earned as you see fit.
What a load of nonsense. If you don't like Fenders don't buy them and say what you like about them. But there's really no need for the attack on people who do like Fenders. By the way, I have a Fender and a Lakland and both have equally excellent QC whatever you think. -
Looks pretty good.

I don't have "a sound". Is something wrong with me?
Oh, I don't know about that. He might well have a sound that sounds similar to a few other folk, but if he likes how he sounds, then hasn't he got his sound?
He certainly has A sound and, if he's anything like me, it's a sound that may show some variability from one room or gig to another but it's hardly HIS sound in the normal sense as used here on BC to refer to a particular sound which has been searched for, successfully or not, over a period of time. -
"Your sound" is the sound that You like that fits with what you play. This could be from your playing style, from your gear or something else. So it sounds to me like you've found your sound.
Sounds to me much more like he has found A sound not HIS sound. -
I read a lot of threads on here and there's a lot of chat about finding "your sound". I don't have one. Am I ok? I turn up at a gig, set everything in sight flat. I have a listen. If there are any odd resonances or other oddness in the room I try to dial it out then off to get a diet coke. That's it. I'm weird aren't I
No, you're normal like me. Except for the diet coke. -
OK lowdowner - here's a little test for you... Find a suitable singer, guitarist and drummer. Record your own version of "Where the streets have no name" with a bassline you think is more interesting while still be being appropriate and post it up here on Basschat for us to critique. What do you think?
That would be a good test. I think the only way to be successful would be to use the song but change the genre. -
