Hi, my Ashdown Mini stack head has blown (output devices) and the cost of repair negates getting it fixed - for me anyways. So, I have two 10 inch speakers in their own individual cabs for sale if anyone has any use for them. They are 16ohms each. I'll also throw in the head as well if anyone wants to have a go at fixing it. Cabs are as below: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=144 The top cab is angled, not clear from the photo in the link above. The items if you'd like to pick them up are based in Glossop, Manchester. Cheers! NEED TO GET RID OF THESE, SO MAKE ME AN OFFER - I'LL THROW IN THE HEAD IF BUYER PICKS UP THE ITEM!

Thanks for all the advice.... I'll look into this a bit more! Cheers!!!!!

Also, don't run a 4ohm and an 8ohm together. I think I'm right in saying that that will give an overall ohmage of about 2.7ohms - and that will damage your amp. Have a look at this, hope it helps! Thanks guys.... gonna be biamping, so I'd like one of each. But from what you both say, it sounds like they'll do the job I'm after. Thank you! Gareth.

Needing to get some 4ohm cabs and these look reasonably priced - anyone have any thoughts on the 1x15 and 4x10? Cheers in advance.
I've never seen a B1 in the flesh. But having seen guys work with carbon and stuff. Why couldn't someone donate an existing one to be used as a "plug" to make new moulds?? Or does the design mean the one being used would need to be sacrificed?? Back onto the OT I'm growing to like the Fenderbird although I don't think enough to stump up the extra the Signature on the headstock will add to the price.
I don't know enough about the moulding process tbh, but I wouldn't offer mine as the guinea pig!!!!
You know Gareth, I wondered about the fact he's been guided by the foundation. If the money was going to the foundation you could almost say fair enough, but I bet it isn't. Also, Chris - I mentioned the same thing to Rob - couldn't you just keep the moulds and wait for the license to run out? No. They would have been sued even for that apparently.
Yep, anything to do with the Buzzard was Warwicks and HPW made sure of that it seems. I don't know if a % is going to the JEF... it would be nice to think so wouldn't it?
-
Hey Wolverine.... I think the Foundation had a heavy hand in this as well - Chris might well have been guided by them somewhat (although that is speculation on my part). Chris has said that the Estate lawyers messed up on Buzzard issue - they agreed on Warwick having all the rights to anything Buzzard, not just the wooden (inferior I agree, and I too have played both) version. Warwick's 'license' re: the Buzzard has now expired so I suppose Status could have been approached and Chris himself has not ruled it out in the future, but I think Rob would be very wary tbh. Also the cost of rebuilding those moulds and starting up production again would be, I think, cost prohibitive. It would make the B1 as least £10K retail I think. Alembic did base John's basses on a Gibson design, so what protestations they could have I don't know - maybe the cobweb design, but I think JAE himself probably thought to add those. I don't think too much to the new Signature basses myself either. I would have liked to have seen a Status bass used in a sort of Fenderbird style design - the B2 graphite neck with Roman numerals on a reverse style body like John used in the early 70's with the B1 electronics and L.E.D's up the neck. That might have been a suitable bass......
Thats a bloody shame, to know that Chris would still like the proper Buzzards to be made! I like Warwick basses, but their reputation as businessmen has never been fantastic, has it? I bet this will really annoy people like Senmen who are huge Entwistle fans and would love a new Status Buzzard!
Don't worry about Oliver (Senmen)... he has just got a B1. He is a very happy chappy! Those of us that have played the Warwick Buzzard and the Status Buzzard know which the best is! Warwick and the whole Status debacle is extremely unfortunate and I wouldn't advise anyone to mention their name around Rob or Dawn. It is true that the moulds were destroyed and that no more will be made by Status even if they could, Rob told me that last year......

"I know that if John were here today he would love these basses" Doubt it........ The only thing going for it is the spider inlay at the 12th fret.....
MB1. ..Was a Green Warwick Buzzard bass!......................Should have gone to Status!....
Nah, twas a Black Warwick Buzzard. Story goes that John was rehearsing with the JEB and he tried 3 different Buzzards, but each one of them was giving a lot of fret buzz. John got so annoyed he excused himself, took the 3rd Buzzard outside and beat the thing to death! Bobby Pridden collected the bits and had it framed as a Christmas present for John. The only times I heard of John's guitars being broken was once when Keith Moon fell over a Thunderbird and broke the neck off and another time when Roger kept telling him to turn down - he got so pissed off he threw his Alembic down on the stage, shouted 'You play the f***in' thing then' and stormed off.... jumping 12 feet off the back of the stage in his Cuban heels! As for the auto-destruction - I think it was a bit of both i.e. Pete's art school lectures and blind luck. The accident with the Rickenbacker just clicked with him and the audience; becoming a showstopper and gaining them national press coverage but also giving a physical outlet to the frustrations he, the band and a lot of the audience were feeling. I love watching The Who smash their gear, although not at Monterey - I think they tried too hard that night to make an impact and also to upstage Hendrix who had told them he planned to destroy his gear as well. This Youtube clip is great for those haven't seen it - Lego Who! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsSo01FIXk8 I just wanna know who the hell that is on JTUK's avatar! The guy's face in the background is priceless - and a lot like mine when I first saw it!
I don't think that the number of people in the band is relevant. Unless the restaurant specifically want your band they would probably be happy with a three piece. Are you pros? What would you normally get for playing there on a Sat night? A lot of people think that NYE is a golden ticket to charge lots. A lot of clubs/pubs make practically no money in Jan/Feb and need the Christmas/NYE events to make enough to cover this. I'll echo the comment above. It's mid August now, only 4 months to NYE how many enquiries have you had or are you likely to get? I had the same argument with my band over £160 each plus free meal (on a normal Fri/Sat we would have got £80 each and a staff discount), they turned it down and I spent NYE that year watching F.....g Jules Holland on TV.
It is relevant sometimes...we know landlords who figure the band fee on number of band members. Don't ask me why though! This particular pub we'd normally get around £200 so a good mark up for NYE for us, perhaps certain members of your band didn't want to gig on NYE? That's happened to me in the past........
-
We're getting £600 from a small pub and we are a 3 piece.... I reckon £200/band member is reasonable to expect for NYE.
