1.
Everyone else... see ya there!
Apart from me. I think this is only a cold, but it's the worst cold I've ever had, and I've had some bad ones. If I stand up, I want to sit down. If I sit down, I want to lie down. If I lie down, I want to throw up. And the headache ain't shifting, no matter what I throw at it. If I miraculously recover in the next four hours, I'll be there in a shot. But I don't fancy my chances. And I really wanted to hear the Vintage vs Compact comparison. Bum bum bum bum bum.
 2.
a certain BCers brother in law really wanted it
That wouldn't be mine, would it?
 3. Bumflaps. I appear to be coming down with something nasty. Hope it's not swine plague or avian bronchitis or whatever's going round Tynedale these days. Probably just the annual bout of norovirus. Waiting for our part-timer to come and relieve me in the shop (steady now...) so I can go and spend the day in bed, resting up for some bass tomorrow. Here's hoping.
 4. Heavy Duty Velcro. This stuff is awesome. It looks like a severe-tyre-damage thing when you look up close, and it'll shred your fingers soon as look at them. And the adhesive is strong. EDIT: It's pricey, though.
 5. Aveeno works wonders for my eczema. I get it at contact points, so after a while playing bass I get a big patch where my thumb rests on the back of the neck.
 6.
I was thinking I might pop up to this and meet the northern BC guys but according to my map it's pretty much in Scotland
It's only about 6 hours from Canterbury. Wuss!
 7.
Hey guys. Just wondering where some of you vintage guys went to, to get custom covers for yours? How much did it cost? Cheers! Rob.
Roqsolid. That price is ex VAT, mind, so it ends up being around £55. Having said that, they seem to have some sort of Christmas offer of 7.5% off (promotional code MerryXmas), which would knock it down to just under £51. TBH, I'd have preferred something a bit more padded, but it'll do the job. It's really well made. It adds a noticeable weight to the cab too! Oh, and it might be a good idea to check with them on the position of the side handles. There was a 1 cm difference between the position of my handles and the position they had on file from the first Vintage cover they made (Merton's, I believe), which could have been really annoying if I hadn't checked. And I'm pretty sure Alex has moved the handles now he's using the new, lighter ply, because the balance point's shifted. Or something like that.
 8.
Four-ish words: Won't fit, wrong texture.
Ah, well. Two more words: my mistake. What texture do you need?
 9.
Indeed, though it isn't a cost issue, it's the challenge of getting the finish into the port once it's built as it's quite a narrow space.
Two words: Radiator roller.
 10.
No-one's commented on the finish inside the port before
I'm not overly bothered about how the outside of a cab looks, as long as it sounds brutally colossal.
 11. I'll be leaving with (after distracting Michael with the Vintage): Basses - Fender '71 Precision Fretted (rosewood) / Fender '71 Jazz (rosewood) / Fender '71 Precision Fretless (rosewood) Amps - Mesa M-Pulse 600 / Mesa Walkabout Scout 112 Don't want the Bergs.
 12. Just wondering what people are intending to bring. I'll have the fretless SR5, a bunch of pedals and the LMII / Vintage combination that can level cities. If people are interested in seeing/trying anything else in my sig, let me know. (Thinking particularly of the VMJ and the Ashbory.)
 13. Awesome. Face-off: Vintage vs two Compacts. Winner stays on.
 14.
... ok, it's just Gs and Ds, but they're here: http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ashborystring/
Thanks for that. I think that's one of the ones I'd stumbled across and quickly scooted on from. Never had a problem with G or D. Ho hum.
 15.
I have a spare set of new silicone strings and also a new set of pahoehoe strings which are much stronger and more stable - you can read a thread about them on the Ashbory forum here. I prefer the new pahoehoes, but not everyone is of the same opinion. They are not available in the UK as far as I know and I got mine here. I can sell you either or both sets. Steve.
PMd!
 16. Big Business started out as a bass/drums duo, although they've now expanded to include a guitar. Still very much bass-centred. There's a couple of guys called Calcius Repton who are doing something pretty cool. It's all a bit noodle-widdle for me, but impressive nonetheless:
 17.
Rule #8 of the internet - someone, somewhere, will always notice the crotch/nudity/cleavage/dildo/reflection. S.P.
Dammit, I missed the nudity/cleavage/dildo/reflection bits. Going back to scour the picture... Anyhoo, we want to see it nekkid. Er, the cab I mean. Get the grille off. (That'll keep you busy for 10 minutes if it's as tough as mine.)
 18. Nice crotch, Rob.
 19. A quick Google shows that the only people doing Ashbory string sets in the UK are stringsdirect.co.uk, and they're out of stock (delivery 6-8 weeks ). I know there's at least one guy doing replacement silicone for G and D strings, but I've snapped my E and I thought it might be useful to get a full set, so I've got spares in future. So where do people get their Ashbory sets from?
 20.
Dammit. I just can't win...
Don't worry. I'm just a vegetarian.
 21.

That's probably the most offensive thing that's been posted in this thread so far. :snob:
 22.
Cute. But what's the one on the right called?
He looks like he might be called Inigo Montoya.
 23. Skank for Euro-President!
 24. I've got La Bella flats on my fretless SR5. They're awesome. IMO, the MM pup (combined with its position) gives the ultimate fretless bmmmwaaahhh, and the flats help to bring that out without overdosing on sizzly highs. To me, the MM sound is all about high-mids, and the flats still deliver that throaty grrraaahh in buckets. Yes, people, that's bmmmwaaahhh and grrraaahh simultaneously. I tried TI flats on it originally. They were a touch brighter, which might be more the OP's cup o' tea, but the higher flexibility of the strings -- for some reason -- made it a little more difficult for me to play on a 5er. (I love the TIs on my VMJ, but the La Bellas just feel right on the SR5.) I'm thinking about putting that TI set on my fretted SUB. Hmmmm. That'll keep me busy tonight.
 25.
Hmm... just wondering what the chances are of getting this cab to the Nort East Bass Bash... Any ideas where it's likely to be prior to the weekend of the 29th?
Looks like it's still in Bradford with tonybassplayer. There's a few over here saying they're coming up from that neck o' the woods (Harrogate, York, etc.), so it might be possible for one of them to ferry it up to be guest of honour. I want to A/B it with the Vintage!
