Why do people keep requesting tabs in this forum?
I've never said anything about reading notation. As it happens, i spend an hour minimum a day on sightreading skills. And here,
OK, Jake, I misunderstood your post's intentions. My apologies. I'll have to check out the playing later. Sorry for the slight thread derail, people. -
Oh, and just because you can, its never going to put feeling into you lifeless sterile playing
When/where have you heard our Lithuanian friend play? Or is this one of those baseless notions that somehow being able to read music makes all your playing lifeless and sterile? Cos I think Jamerson, Pastorius and Flea (pick whichever one(s) you like) probably put paid to that notion a long while ago. -
this is what got me thinking to start with.... http://moodysounds.com/index.php?main_page...products_id=216
I've got the Hjärt Müller. Really easy to build, and it sounds pretty good too. Plenty of grunt and bottom. Quite tempted by the BYOC Large Beaver too.

"Core Tone" isn't very important in your bass.
I ceratinly agree that I'd be bored wearing the same underpants for ever.
Bored? I think "lonely" is the word you're looking for. -
Looks like the first job's done: strap lock buttons fitted! Good plan. I've got an 08/09 Precision in exactly that colour scheme (came to me slightly altered with a Badass III and a Jazz pup, and both pups are Nordstrands) and it's a cracking bass. Feels great, and I'm sure it would have been great even without the mods. Enjoy! EDIT: And isn't the case just awesome for a standard factory HSC?
Ped - I'm curious as to what lens you got yourself. I'm assuming a 1.4, or even a 1.2, aperture?
Having tracked down the exposure info on Photobucket, it was 1/25s at ISO 800, so 1.4 sounds like a reasonable guess, depending on the light level. Maybe 1.8? Ped: if that was hand-held, kudos to you. I can't get a clear shot any slower than 1/60s (I probably just need to lay off the caffeine). Double-kudos for a clear hand-held shot at 1/25s with manual focus.
Perfect..thanks bro...
No problem. The beauty of that site is that you can generate those diagrams for ERBs and weird tunings too.

This one? Just go to the "harm" tab and click "show all". <two minutes later> Here you go.

It's been a while since I was under 18, so excuse my ignorance, but... why would an establishment chuck someone out just for being under 18? As long as they don't attempt to purchase alcohol, surely they're not breaking any laws? When I was younger, I had friends under 18 who worked in bars, just collecting and washing glasses; obviously they couldn't serve alcohol, but nothing precluded them from being there. Or have things changed in recent years? (Sorry it's a bit off-topic.)

What about a MM Sterling? Like a 'Ray, but a bit smaller, with a slimmer neck. And it's got the pickup switching so you can get a reasonable approximation of an "active Jazz" sound when it's in single-coil mode. Disclaimer: I've never played a Sterling! But my SR5 has the coil switching, and it's superb (but very different) in all three positions.
What's the neck like on a 5er ATK?
Never had my hands on one personally, but the neck dimenions on the Ibanez USA site are pretty much the same as my Stingray 5. If you want to try an ATK 5er you'd better get a wriggle on: they seem to have disappeared from Ibanez's UK site. Just 4-strings left.
but for sheer audaciousness I love Wooten's doubled guitar solo with Mike Stern...
That's bonkers. Pretty cool, though.

Not a Jazz body, and the bridge pup looks to be a little bit back from Stingray position... oh, and it only comes in dullard grey... but there's the Ibanez SRX365: Under £300 new, with a slim neck, 16.5mm spacing and an extra pup into the bargain. Honestly, if it came in any other colour I'd have it. EDIT: The Ibanez site actually says 18mm spacing, but dv247.com says 16.5mm. The plot thickens.
How heavy is this beast and how loud does the clean channel go before it starts to break up?
In the grand scheme of things, not that heavy; around 25kg, IIRC. I can get it on the bathroom scales tonight for a better figure. In my experience gigging it in small venues in my teenage years (ah, the memories), I always kept the clean channel gain down and turned the master volume up. (The clean channel starts to drive nicely beyond about 2 or 3 o'clock.) If you add in the volume boost knob, that takes it into silly-loud territory. So you can get it pretty clean and loud. However, if you're playing loud, it's never going to be ultra-clean, because the power stage is quite happy to clip too. It's a really lovely, "musical", fat warmth, rather than a grind or anything like that, from both the pre and power stages (unless you're driving it hard, and then it'll grind happily). In summary, for small venues it's clean enough and very loud. I'm probably not the best judge, though, because back then it was all Oasis-style crunch and thickness. For that kind of stuff, it's superb.

Got one on my Stingray 5. Does the job admirably.
Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B
+1 for this, although the EHX Bass Big Muff makes a pretty good noise too. Quite a different character to the standard Big Muff, and different again from the Pickle Pie B.

Just sold my Squier VMJ fretless to Chris, and he's a gem of a bloke. Quick and smooth to deal with -- I think I had money within about an hour of posting my "For Sale" thread! He's also patiently absorbed pretty much everything I know about setting up neck relief and action, so the guy deserves a medal. Hope I haven't steered him wrong. Well, I'm yet to destroy a bass... Now, Chris: STOP PLAYING THE SQUIER AND FINISH YOUR ESSAY!
