1. I love the Small Clone, very rich and sounds good for Nirvana type chorus.
2.
Romantic Warrior was an unbelievable album
Inspired to get it outta the car, thank you
3. +1 I've just been listening to John Coltrane, 'A Love Supreme' bloody marvelous
4. Nice one
5.
If the original poster wasn't implying that part of his love for her wasn't due to her attractiveness, why did he include a picture?
That's a good and fair point BBC. I still stand by my personal discomfort at some of the stuff expressed in this thread. I just do, err, that's it. Pedro
6. pm'd Peter
7. 6 page thread about Tal Wilkenfeld and about 5% of the posts relate to her bass playing. Great respect for her as a bass player. As for her sex, why the flying f*** does that have to take up the other 95% of the posts, this is after all a bass forum and not a boy's club. Personally she looks too much like my daughter for me to find her attractive, but then I'm an old bastard. If you find treating women like a piece of meat fun then that's frankly a bit narrow and sad imo. Pierre
8. Really great basses too
9. A great review. Villex are imo a very interesting bunch. I believe that there's a lot of mythology surrounding pickups but the reality is that there's only so much that a magnet and some coils of wire can do. What Villex are doing however is something completely different. My own Villex modified Lakland has an active like output in terms of magnitude but is noiseless. This new gear sounds really interesting and deserves greater broadcasting to the bass public. Up with ACG basses I believe they deserve to have a much higher profile in the bass world. Just my thoughts.
10.
hope the rig kicks ass
Awaiting details And + a big 1 on Alan's feedback! Peter
11.
So is the EBS for sale.........
I think that's the whole point of the thread Stu Bumpety bump
12.
but that sort of playing is just drivel and it doesn't have any place in a musical sense.
Statement of fact? Or your opinion?
13. I've got a pair of Japanese Yamaha's (BB5000 and TRB5P) that have some 'mojo' and when they are made as well as that it does lend character imho
14. Hiya all. I've been around Basschat and it's precursors for quite a while, more recently as Greeneking and before that as Wraithwrider (yes there's a reason for the name change and it's nothing sinister) and although I've never seen the need for feedback before now I do appreciate that it has a place in offering some reassurance to others who may be fuelling or being fuelled by GAS. So if you have any feedback (bass dealing related only please ) I'd ask that you plonk it down here. Cheers Peter
15. I was chatting to a really nice guy yesterday who is a registered Fender dealer and who has amongst other things a 73 Jazz he loves dearly. He's also been around for a while i.e. even longer than moi. He was relating tales of how he and his band mates sold Jazz's, P's, Strats and Tele's for little money not that long ago. He deals mainly in Japanese instruments nowadays and can't speak too highly of them in comparison to the US counterparts both new and old. We were talking about the huge prices these older instruments fetch and about how that in the later 70's before retooling the worn out routers were producing neck pockets that you could nearly fit two necks into. Then we have the defective poorly machined body that because of Leo Fender's penny scrimping business acumen becomes a 'desireable feature'. Well everyone to their own, and I do find a nicely finished 'burst' Jazz or P with a tort plate as sexy as anyone but when some tired old relic appears and we get the 'omg' comments and the prices to go with it I too think 'omg' but for an entirely different reason. I'm not saying there's owt wrong with this fascination with all things Vintage Fender but is it only me that thinks 'Fenderphiles' are victims of clever marketing?(2nd hand market). Is it just me thinking along these lines or am I an isolated 'heathen' with no taste or appreciation? It should go without saying but I'd add this is my opinion I'm not stating fact or slagging anyone off etc, etc. I actually did buy a Fender , a new Japanese P/J Aerodyne in white and it's just superb btw and I'd only swap it for a 'knackered' 1970's Jazz to sell the Jazz on and buy a (several) 'better' bass(es). Peter
16. I'd just like to reinforce the usefulness and total quality of these. If you don't know what they do (just about everything bar make you a bacon sarny in the morning) visit the EBS site and find out. 17. Ahh.. But if you want a really good chorus et al. to match your sound etc then a single effect usually surpasses even the best multi unit, and yes that does matter. I'm good at scuppering my very own arguments of course awaiting delivery of a Line 6 Bass POD XL Live. If I'm satisfied with it, as I expect to be, I'll probably have several fx for sale but my EBS Microbass II and Unicomp won't be amongst them, however good the Line 6 is. Need I say anymore about EBS desirability imo? Peter
18.
crazy, i dont know why anyone would ever trade their gt6b for that
EBS make what are probably some of the best non boutique pedals imo and they certainly aren't cheap so I find you comment a bit odd too. No offence meant. Peter
19. GreeneKing

TRB6

Hmm.. Mk1, very nice indeed. Peter
20. Is it the Bongo by any chance Alan? I do occasionally have occasion to do the matchstick and pva thing, can't remember if the Bongo was a 'victim'. Polyeurothane is ace stuff though. Peter
21. That's a very good price for a new MBII, I'm sure it'll be gone soon Have a New Years bump on me anyway
22. Thay's very nice (now). I hope you got it for a good price.
23. Ah but was that a price rise driven by Ric or their importer adjusting their prices inline with UK inflation?
24. Yeah and I wasn't too pleasant either in reply. Apologies
25. Where r u? Someone just may live around the corner
