  1. Gonna start this now, the next week will see a big change being made to my 5 string Sei Jazz It's currently running a pair of Bart' soap bars through a Bart' pre amp. The pre is 3 band with 2, 3 way switches for coil selection . Into it I am putting, a pair of Nordstrand Humbuckers and an East pre, with a switch added for the side neck LED's. No coil selection switches, no series / par' switches. The p/ups are going in, wired in series. I'll upload a picture of the bass, pre overhaul, later today Tony

I'm not getting as much time as I would like with rehersals and stuff, to trey this out, but had a jam with the filters last night, Tron up works well, needs a volume pedal on it though T
  3. I heard last night, he has played on two tracks on Wellers new album and someone else from the band said he was amazing! Bruce has had a tough year as he lost his wife earlier in the year! Tony
  4. same as mine but in blue, great sounding bass, I would assume 17mm string spacing with these p/ups? Tony
  5. we slotted in a quick one at Jabez cleg next Tuesday, part of In the City, we're on around 9 I think, will know more in the next few days T
  6. I know poeple from both camps, spoke to someone last night who knows the PW side and he's gonna have a snoop, the guy I know from the BF side is on the road right now I think, will check if he's in the UK and make a call some time today Bit of a shame if the tour doesn't happen though, I do know they are not getting as good a responce as when they first went out as FTJ, but it was biggish news first time round and this is third time out. Whenever I see them they always pack the venues T

A little bit of tweaking brought the dirt / distortions into play, the standard settings were a bit weak! T
  8. From the Jam are touring soon! I also grew up listening to Bruce, now I have the pleasure of photographing the band when ever I want, all the other snappers get 3 songs, I get full set. How cool is that, sat a few feet away from one the geezers who you grew up listening too! I also get ther same privelage with SLF, another of my fave bands from back in the day, still are Bruce still sounds great, great player and a great P bass sound through his Marshall stack! Tony

  11. Wow, stunning bass, I didn't expect to see this for sale, I have the same problem, it's missing a string, otherwise I may have sold a kidney!! Tony

It was that price for a few hours, then went back to £329? I didn't have my wallet on me when I saw it, got home, bought one, then shortly after it was normal price!! Tony

It looks like they did hold the price, I need to check the invoice when it arrives though. My account on Dolphin still shows the same price though, so without contcating me, they cannot charge any more to my card! Could be the best £215 I've spent for a while! I got to go away for a few days tonight though, so probably only gonna get a few minutes to have a play, will have to wait until sunday for a good work out with it Tony
  15. Bump on a cheap, quality cab Travelling from Manchester to Redcar tonight, back again on Sunday, so can deliver "en route" Tony

I just got an email from Dolphin Music telling me mine has been shipped, should arrive tomorrow! Tony
  17. Yes, it ain't that simple! By simple, I meant, I want to go down the regular bass, mid, treble route and avoid having too many switches, so using push/pull pots where possible I think I am going to stay with the p/ups in series (simple job to change later) and get john to squeeze in a small switch for the LED's, or go the route you went with the push/pull pot on the passive tone. Cheers Tony
  18. Thanks for the input guys, it's all sinking in! I will be sticking with a regular pre as opposed to a filter based pre at this time, just trying to work out the best way to squeeze everything in!! Tony
  19. I also considered this a while back. Rob Green at Status makes a standard stingray neck that has a flatter profile on the back, therefore giving the impression of a slimmer neck. He will also do a stingray neck with the same nut width as a Jazz (similar to a sterling) but he will add extra to the cost, £50 I think it was You could always get a Sterling Tony
  20. anybody?
  21. I'm after a new pre for my sei, currently running Bartolini P5's and a Bart' 3 band pre Decided on a total refit a while back, was after a pair of Nordstrand dual coils, which I now have, thanks to "Nice Guy Homer" Now the pre amp choice is proving difficult as I try to accomodate several of my requirements on a standard jazz style plate, with 4 pots and a body jack socket I need some way of switching side, neck LED's on, these are now on the volume pot, which is push/pull I will probably run the pick ups in series, but it would be nice to have the option of using one switch to switch both p/ups into series or parallel. The options I have, are as follows J-retro deluxe - I've spoke to John about this already, he did a mod to one for Largo off this forum, that gives the facility to switch LED's. But as much as I love these pre's, having a mid frequency select pot as well as mid cut/boost, is more than I need, but nice to have. I like things very simple, 3 band eq, volume and blend. Plus there is no room to add any series/parallel switching Audere - I emailed audere, their pre's are not able to be customised, so whilst the addition of any LED switch would be easy, thats about it Aguilar - the model I looked at was the BP-3SK/PP: (Includes stacked Treble/Bass pot and separate Mid pot. Mid pot is push/pull for Midrange frequency selection) Not sure if this will fit in my cavity though (ooooh err missus!) would probably get the guys at the gallery to sort this for me, maybe the series parallel switching can be squeezed in there Nordstrand - same situation as the aguilar pre, but a load of additional info on the website about changing the mid frequency with capacitors! Would run this as it came, my amp is capable of any additional mid' requirements I have Probably worth mentioning that I have a seperate batery compartment in the bass Any additional advice, comments would be appreciated Cheers Tony
  22. Welcome to the city, I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun, plenty of live music about There are a few of us on here from Manc', no doubt they will be along shortly! Tony
  23. Saw SA back in '96 with the Sex Pistols in Finsbury park, great band and a great day! She did an insane dive into the crowd (not Boy hits car style, but still cool as ....) Also saw him when he was with TTD a long time ago, they were supporting Bowie on the glass spider tour, TTD were a bit sh*t to be honest, Alison Moyet played the same day, awesome voice, Bowie was on form, I remember Peter Frampton was on 6 string duty at that time Tour dates for SA are out, sometime in November me thinks, I will go see, great band!
  24. I had a CS Jazz a few years back, it was a team built bass, very nice neck, probably one of the best 4 string necks I've wrapped my hands around. Very well built, but given the custom options from just UK luthiers, I wouldn't go that route again (I am a sei bass owner) It's a well built stock jazz at the end of the day, you'll find a US deluxe that sounds and feels as good if you shop around Tony
  25. OC-2 and loooper now sold Meatball is on e-bay Tony
