Really after one of these, but they seem few and far between, when they have come up, I've missed them or they go over budget (like the one I was bidding on, on ebay, today!) Got a few options here! First off, I don't play a huge amount of fretless, I do play fretless on a few tracks my band do, one of which is a regular in our live set. I always play fretless when we have an acoustic jam, but I have a Lakland hollow body for that job now, thx to BigBeatNut! So I want a lined fretless, simple as! This does reduce the number of basses open to me I know, but I wanna stay with the lines! options are Find one! not easy! Defret a fretted, yeah, maybe! but I don't like dots on a fretless fretboard, lines OK, but dots no! (call me fussy lol) and stingrays, generally use Pau ferrow on fretless as opposed to RW (please correct me if I'm wrong) Line an unlined fretless? not usre how many luthiers would do this, but it also gives me chance to get darker lines! Buy one of those rather nice sterling ball rays in black and get a Status neck Opinions? I guess my budget goes up to £700, which is probably about the worth of my deluxe jazz fretless, which this will replace! (I gig stingray fretted most of the time these days, hence the desire for similar fretless) Tony

Only had this a few weeks, but it is just too big to intergrate into my DAW area The blurb is below Novation are celebrating the phenomenal success of the ReMOTE SL series by releasing a special limited edition ReMOTE SL37. The ReMOTE SL was the first MIDI controller to feature Novation`s groundbreaking Automap software – a technology so advanced that it recently won the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation. Heard some sad news last night, a well known guitar tech from Manchester has passed away Some of you Manchester people will know Adie well, he's been around a while, from A1 to sound control, then into Music Ground with Napper! I think he had been at Jonny Roadhouse recently? Tony

My filters don't live on my gig board, they are with a few other pedals that are for home use only. They all go back to a sansamp DI which has two outputs, one into the digi 002 and the other into a Pod XT which goes into another input of the digi 002. Will be checking out the proton when it is available! Tony
-
Looks like GR1/2 and Proton will be a good match, two different animals, simplicity of the Mutron vs a cooled down Meatball! good vibes on these cos the guy listens to what people want! T
-
Yeah, I heard about the Proton, Looks good from what I am reading on TB The Boomstick is just a nice simple filter, forget what it is a clone of, maybe a Dod, Tayste will tell us lol! I've had a lot over the years, but not really bothered with them for a while as they are not something I would use in anything i have done for last few years I've been thru Q-trons (first filter I owned, wouldn't have another, there are far better out there) Mutron, origanil and reissue (alot of poeple write the reissue off, but it still sounds good, not as good as an oldie though) Mooger Fooger Low Pass (good filter, but needs to be ina loop IMHO, sucks tone more than any other pedal I've owned) Love tone Meatball (too many knobs) EBS bass IQ (good, would own another) plus some others which I can't remember! I liked the Meatball, hence the incoming GR! Tony

Got a boomstick bottom feeder here and waiting for the 3 leaf GR to arrive from US, seems to be taking forever! Tony

They look amazing, they probably play amazing, if I turned up at a rehearsal with one, my band would get together and hurt me! T

Yeah, Steve Curtis is good, always busy Ged Green is good also, he has done a few jobs for me I know of another guy who has been in spain for a while, he may be back in the UK soon, he is very good, I think Ged Green took over a lot of his work a few years back. I'll get more info on this when I can Tony

I like loopers for several reasons, they take tone sucking pedals out of the loop and allow you stick stuff anywhere you want on your board with the option to set two or more pedals to switch at the same time But! there is you basic wired loop pedal, some are better made than others, then you get the Gig Rig pedal which uses relays for switching. The reason given is for purity of signal and silent switching. They cost a bit more, but are they worth it? GigRig guys do some red hot stuff, so i guess they know what they are talking about! Opinions? Tony

All done! All I can say is amazing! The bass sounds so much more crisp and lively! and the mid sweep gives a good increase in tones available! Tony

A while back I bought a 4 knob 3 band east pre for my stingray off basschat I had no instalation instructions but I knew they were on the East site in pdf format MMSR4K I just wanna make sure I've got this right before I get the soldering iron out! On my old pre, I have the following... Black and white wires from the p/up 2 blacks and a red coming from the battery box to the jack socket red, black and white from the jack socket / battery box to the original circuit board On the new pre amp, I have the following Red, green and orange from the mid circuit board And I have two points on the other circuit board to which I can attach the p/ups So the p/ups is an easy one! From the PDF, the wires off the mid sweep board are as follows Red - 9-18 v +ve - this is linked on the mid sweep board to provide power to the main pre amp board. I am assuming this connects to the red from the jack/battery Orange - Output, this should go to the tip of the jack socket (white from the jack/battery) Green - Ground (black from the jack/battery) It has become more apparent whilst typing this, I could have done with colours on the pdf even though I am colour blind lol! Anyone else fitted one of these? Tony

3 leaf are known for the Lovetone Meatball clone, the Groove Regulator, it's just moved into it's second incarnation as GR2 There is also a Mutron III clone on the way, called the Proton. Not available yet, but looks like they are in production and may be available for pre order soon

Making a line out box to use on a valve amp
sshorepunk replied to Christophano's topic in Amps and Cabs
Never tried one, but our guitarist uses it. JDI was mentioned earlier, this is the exact one if you want all the valvey goodness from the power stage I guess Radial JDX Anyone else used one? Tony -
Not doing it for me! Like Lakland jazzes, great style, but these look like a shot at the classy, boutique style market? But! that could just be down to my approach to basses these days, which is solid colours rather than grainy wood stained in nice colours Tony
