  4. Just done my "blues jam" in the local church... We were meant to noodle for 1/2 hour to get other folk to come along and play too but ended up doing 2 hours. A bloke joined in on harmonica too so it all worked quite well despite every "song" being based on a groove I started. We even managed a little blues guitary version of Sylvester's "Do Ya wanna Funk", which is probably one of the only times it's ever been played in a church! Used the ACG into Helix/BBE pre/DBX comp/Crown Power/Markbass 2x10, sounded funky...

  6. Unfortunately, real funk isn't very popular! But this is real funk, and only a year old... Good luck with the rap, though I'm, sure arrangement could lose or alter it.

  12. I started jamming with our old guitarist and a chap with stripped down drums (bass, snare, hihat) in what was meant to be a blues band. We started off with just straightforward progressions with each initially bluesy thing becoming improvised jazz funk or even freer. Great fun was had, but as we'd been practicing in the local church the drummer's wife (ie vicar) heard us and now we're doing our first gig at the Church Music Day this Saturday. We've got no songs, and have half an hour to fill...

  24. Two Jakeys sitting on a bench in the cemetery sharing a bottle of Bucky, one lights up a fat one... Had lots of fun with echoes/reverbs/phasers on this one... Bass is a Sandberg Bassic, drums layered from individual Loopcloud sounds, main parts played via pads on Impulse keyboard. Guitars are a Strat, a Gretsch semi and ancient acoustic. Synths are Iris and AAS, plus Rhodes and clavi VSTs. Delays are Raum, Objeq and Dubstation 2. Mixed in Ableton with plenty of Neutron 3 and Ozone 9...
