  1. I got hit by this new eBay diktat too, but as acidbass says, there are ways around, the trouble is you have to remember to implement them when you’re doing the listing, rather than when the sale is made. Yet more mind-numbing admin, just so eBay can improve their margins…
  2. High quality transformer balanced passive DI box from EMO Inputs for Instrument, Line or Loudspeaker and balanced, isolated output to mixer Instrument input has a parallel output to go to your amp Loudspeaker input has a parallel output for the speaker cabinet

  3. Not sure if any of this helps… If I’ve understood this right, you’ve got a 4 ohm cab and an 8 ohm cab running off the two speaker sockets on the back of the amp. Theory says that the load on the amp is nominally 2.7 ohms*. According to the amp spec it will, if pushed, knock out 1200 watts rms into that load. Because the speakers have different ratings and impedance the 4 ohm (115) cab will get twice the power - which could be 800w. The 112 cab could be getting 400w So, in theory you could be overloading the cabs if you’re playing with a lot of ‘attack’ - the instantaneous power being greater than rms. Practically speaking, it’s possible that some part of the speaker/amp chain was overheating when indoors - there could be up to 20A running through the speakers If you can, it might be worth trying out two cabs with 8ohm impedance and similar power handling? Or two 4ohm cabs wired in series? Or a high pass filter? *nominal because in practice the impedance is complex and varies with frequency
  4. Ok, its for one of those six-string things that play an octave too high, but someone might want one... Postage £3.50

  5. Very kind! A lifetime spent doing audio 'stuff' and not enough time spent practising those scales
  6. This is a very tough, but relatively lightweight (7kg) 4U rack case. Very solidly built, with two butterfly catches to hold each end piece in place and moulded, recessed handles There is a shallow version, but this is the deeper one with 46cm between the front and back rack strips (just over 50cm front rack strip to back of case) Overall external size is 55cm wide x 23cm high x 61cm deep Rack screws included Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier 48hr for £13
  7. When you get to #3... it might be worth checking the tweeters individually and then in pairs, in case you've got a phase reverse somewhere - that might account for the apparently low output
  8. If you search for “online tone generator” you should find a free app which will generate pure audio tones via the iPad. You can then use that to put reasonably high level 4 or 5khz tones through your cab, which might give you a more accurate indication of the effect of switching the tweeters on and off?
  9. If you do decide to go toroidal, this looks about right. Since it has dual primary - ie the mains side, you do need to get that right and wire for 230v (ie both primary windings in series) https://uk.farnell.com/block/rkd-120-2x30/xfmr-toroidal-120va-chassis/dp/4209599
  10. Valid! My Baritone was longer scale
  11. My limited experience of using a baritone is that chords mostly sound like mud. Bass or lead lines with a plectrum seemed to work well
  12. The didgeridoo duel should be mandatory in Spinal Tap 2 🙀
  13. An inability to ditch unwanted cables has now got to ridiculous proportions, so a load for sale. Open to offers, but as a kick-off: A bunch of five 'prosound' 60cm cables £10 A pair of jack to right-angle jack 2m leads. Neutrik jacks, Helical screened cable. £12 the pair Another pair of jack to jack leads, one right angle, the other gold-plated straight jack plugs. Neutrik jacks, helical screened cable £12 the pair Two 5.6m jack to jack cables, one with moulded plugs one with Neutriks £18 the pair
  14. Small cab, lightweight, but as discussed on many posts, produces a surprisingly big sound for a 10" 200W speaker (8 ohms) Some tolex peel/shrinkage, mostly visible on the back, but otherwise sound This version has the fabric front, so marginally lighter (6.7kg) than the one with the metal grille Roqsolid cover is as new Pickup preferred but I can courier this at cost if necessary

  15. And those controls are: Volume, tone and What exactly?
  16. I’ve used K&M stands for years, well worth the money and you can almost always get spare parts for them.
  17. Soundcraft Signature 10 mixer for sale, excellent condition, all features and signal paths working Until recently my recording interface with my PC - via the USB connection which gives 2-Track capability. 18. This amp doesn’t have Speakon outputs so be careful with the amp-to-speaker cables. Like Dad3353 says, if you’re going to do any damage it’s likely to be this end of the system.
  19. I used to build equipment for BBC Outside Broadcast vans and a standard piece of kit to have onboard was an earth spike (just a piece of nice solid copper or steel with a tag to attach an earth cable). You used it if you were (typically) powered from a generator or mains source a long way away and you just knocked it into the ground local to the van and connected it to the mains earth terminal of your electrical distribution - which could just be a simple set of sockets. Easy to do when you had an earth terminal specially provided for this purpose, but not impossible with a standard 13A board. It does need to be a solid piece of mains cable however; 2.5mm minimum, 4mm better. As noted by many others, wireless connections give an element of safety as do RCD's on the power outlets. The problem with a wireless connection is that you might want to adjust a control on your amp/combo and only then would you discover if you and the equipment were both connected to the same earth.
  20. You just use left and right outputs as separate feeds - one for the PA (left), one for monitors (right). The Pan control on each channel acts to control how much of each signal goes to left and right - so a channel panned centre goes to both PA and Monitors, panned full left PA only, panned full right Monitors only...
  21. When you say “monitor mix” do you want to create a separate mix for monitoring, different from the main mix? If so you can do that as long as you don’t mind your main mix being in mono.
  22. Thinking that I may as well be hung for a sheep (ie a seriously expensive bass) as for a lamb (Rich's excellent EBS Session 60), I have just blown the year's budget on this very beautiful Duesenberg Motown Bass Almost too beautiful to play, but not quite...
  23. Just bought a Dusenberg bass off Mark. Lovely bloke to deal with, always prompt with communication and highly recommended. The Dusenberg is top quality and Mark took a lot of trouble to make sure that it arrived unscathed via Parcelforce.
  24. Purchased a year ago to join my other 'headless' basses, but not getting played enough, so moving it on. A bass with an 80's vintage feel to it, lightweight (about 3kg), small (obviously) but despite being 24 fret, having a large enough contoured basswood body to sit comfortably whilst being played. A very solid sound through two humbuckers and the usual Ibanez blend control. Other controls are volume and tone. 34" scale, rosewood fretboard, maple neck. Currently fitted with roundwound strings, but you can alter the strings to whatever type you want since the top of the neck secures them with allen screws, so no need for double ball-end types. It's had plenty of playing in its life and the body has quite a few dings and scratches and one chip in the paintwork - please see the photos . Comes with a strap and a good quality Rockbag soft case. Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I will courier at cost.
  25. "turn up on time, smile at everyone, and play the right notes" - Excellent advice for any musician, but especially a bass player. For those of us who are less musically gifted, achieving 1 & 2 whilst playing a few bum notes (although preferably in the same key as the rest of the band) seems to be sufficient.
