1. It's more a players bass than a collectors bass of ourse but I do like it's appearance very much. Lemme know what you'd like to get for it if it's a good price I might be tempted...
2. hmmm, pretty cool, really like the bass + specs. I need to think about it since I was actually looking at buying a Rickenbacker. This looks great however and is quite extraordinairy as far as looks go which I like. On the other hand it will be hard to resell if I don't like it because it's a warmoth (no offence meant, people just buy anything that says Fender or Gibson on the headstock it's just the way it is). I am located in The Netherlands BTW so if you're not comfortable shipping international it's a no brainer. I have some good references as a buyer here though since I bought an EBS Fafner and Mesa BB 750 head from boardmembers.
3. Hi guys, I finally finished recording our new promo. I guess it's strange hearing someone else playing guitar on my recordings than myself but hey the new guy can play! We recorded everything ourselves in our rehearsal studio with our own gear. Guitars used include an USA custom shop DEAN ML (for almost) all guitar tracks. Amps were an ENGL Invader 100 and an older Marshall JCM 900 SL-X. I used an EBS Fafner head for my basstracks and of course my Gibson Thunderbird bass. I also "sing" now so please be gentle with the comments about the vokills LOL http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7897618

6. just a few months they kept popping up and now it seems like there's no available anymore. If anyone still has one for sale please let me know, if the price is reasonable we'll talk! Cheers
7.
for you guys who have a musicman, would your say they are good for rock music? if you have a look at www.myspace.com/astronotmusic and listen to the new recording clips and you will hear what kinda sound im looking for
I have a 2007 limited edition blue dawn stingray H. I love stingrays, they sound punchy and agressive. They are a perfect fit for rock. The only bass I play even more is my USA Gibson Thunderbird.

Ashdown

I always loved my ABM 500
9. For me fender vs. music man is a no brainer, music man to me is much better quality. I love the Stingray tone, fat and punchy!
10. would you be willing to ship to the Netherlands (have bought an amp from the UK before)..

Gibson

I bought a thunderbird a month ago and it's the best sounding bass I ever had. Big sound, tight lows and growling top end with mucho definition. I love it, oh and mine (a GIBSON nikki sixx sig) doesn't have much neck dive at all....
12. Funny how it still hasn't sold. i would have loved to have it but I already bought the EBS which rocks BTW. I am selling my ashdown ABM at the moment, if it gets sold in time I might take another shot.
13. I think a good stingray is one of the best sounding basses out there. I only prefer my Gibson Thunderbird to mine.
14. Looks great, but it's a VERY Long bass. I wish they'd make some higher end basses (USA) like that. I'd be allover an USA made Demonator for shure. Their USA guitar line destroys most other high enders out there.
15.
Ok fair point. FWIW I was going to get an Epiphone Thunderbird Gothic at one point but gave up after waiting 4 months for it - turned out to be a good thing in the end as I ended up with an Ibanez ICB200EX which is fekkin' glorious...
I like the iceman shape for a bass for shure. I am not shure about the epi birds but i heard good things. The Gibson destroys though, seriously...
16.
I wouldn't leave it lying around with the jack in either - or you'll be spending some wedge next having the socket and/or the surround replaced. Oh AND, what's the point of spending money buying a Nikki Sixx signature bass and then removing the Nikki Sixx signature scratchpad. I don't get that... but there we go...
I can relate to your comment, however I REALLY like the looks and specs of this bass, it's something you don't get on a regular Thunderbird IV. Like I said I love the fact it has an ebony fretboard (normal Thunderbird IV is rosewood) and it has solid figured maple body wings whereas a normal Thunderbird IV has Mahogany wings making the sixx sig sound brighter (which I love!). The price fyi was the same as a regular thunderbird IV at € 1599. The only finish yuo can get nowadays with the regular Thunderbird is vintage sunburst which is not my style, I like the black cherry over figured maple a lot better so there you go. BTW been playing the hell out of this bass this weekend, the only flaw I could find was that the action on the lower E string was somewhat too low since I have rattling problem when fretting the first 3 frets, but this will be an easy fix with a slight truss rod adjustment. Other than that it's the absolutely best sounding bass I have ever played, it really sounds huge. Those TB plus PU's have some mighty punch especially if you considder they are passives.
17.
How does that work then? Oh and nice bass there, i have to say, that and the new epi thunderbird pros are really the only thunderbirds i like. I love the maple wings and trans finish, gorgeous
Well onthe gibson site it says that the opti grab is just something Nikki uses to strawl the abss around the stage with. I don't think it has anything to do with the nose diving, it's far to light for that, it's just a metal ring which you can grab or support your hand with. I dunno but like I said the guitar doesn't nose dive so no need for the opti grab if it was meant for that.
18.
Nice looker!!! What's the thingy behind/below the bridge?????
it's called an "opti grab", but to me it's just a stupid gimmick ;-)
19.
That's what i'm thinking, if you don't like the scratchplate then what makes it different from a normal thunderbird which is probably a lot cheaper?
quite a lot actually, this one has a 7-ply mahogany/walnut neckthru construction with solid flame maple wings whereas the "standard" thunderbird has full mahogany construction. The "normal" thunderbird has a rosewood fretboard whereas this one has an ebony fretboard. The control configuration is also different tone/vol/killswitch. Plus this one has IMO a nicer finish and was about the same price.
20.
That is beautiful...may I be cheeky and ask how much?
it was about 1600 euros shipping included, that was a pretty fair price IMO
21.
that looks really nice, gonna go for a plain black scratchplate?
yeah probably gonna take a plain black one, think that would look best
22. LOL thanks, not a Motley Crue fan though that scratchplate has gotta go ;-)
23. Always wanted to have one of these and I really liked the trans cherry red finish with solid flame maple wings. The fretboard is ebony too which I absolutely love (also on my guitars). I was a little afraid about the neck dive issue these are supposed to have but I have to say it doesn't nose dive at all, they repositioned the front strap buttons which works great! It's still not as well balanced as my Music Man stingray, but it's pretty close to my pleasant surprise! The sound is absolutely killer, a lot of clarity and punch without sacrificing low end. I have to say, and I am really surprised at this, it sounds fatter and heavier than my stingray. It "only" has 4 strings and 20 frets (34,5" scale) but that's enough for me, I am a happy camper. Now only Dean needs to release a high quality usa bass! PS the pics don't do the finish justice, it was way to dark making the guitar look almost black.
