See if I agree with you after next week’s rehearsal. To my ear, the 15 just adds in some nice lows…how high of volume levels are you talking about? Seems these cabs work really well with the amp, as they should since they are part of a factory matched stack. Loving the tone though…. now I have to sell the Fender…

Fender Dual Showman with 4x12 slant front cab and factory spring reverb. Used condition, but everything works. Currently runs on 110v, but will include heavy duty transformer. Lovely warm tube sound. Reluctant sale-I'd love to keep it at home for practice, recording, etc, but cannot spare room for 2 amps. IMO, this amp would be ideal in a studio/practice facility setting. I will certainly entertain offers on asking price or consider trade/partial trade for a good 4x10 cabinet plus money my way. Willing to deliver/meet up within a reasonable distance. Please share with your guitarist friends! Additional pictures available on request. -
I picked it up…the quad cab is heavy, but the head is really good, and the 15 is usable. I’m never going to be an Elf and 10” kind of player.

I'm getting rid of an all-valve Fender (Dual Showman) head that weighs about 50 pounds.....so not to worried about the TE head...

All good points...this rig is way underpriced. I already have a spare power amp, and am planning on replacing the speakers as we gig more. I am still not convinced that 10's will actually make me happy on low notes...we shall see.

The amp reminds me a bit of the Musicman I had many years ago. If it sounds close to that, then I'm happy with that. Having the Preamp/power amp setup lets you upgrade as you need and still retain what is (I hope) a top-notch preamp for what I want it for. The amp and cabs can be updated as I start actually making money from gigs. That's the plan, anyway. I think it's easy to acquire great gear...the hard part is doing it without spending bucketloads of money...:)

After hauling my dual showman around, I’ve decided to sell it on. I found a TE G12 rig with 4x10 and 1x15 cabs at a good price. I like the idea of the tube/solid state option, on board compression, and foot pedal. I’m also thinking the 2 cabs gives a bit of flexibility. Thoughts?

Nice thread resurrection! I still lug a fender 4x12 cabinet around, and have been known to use an 18. Do you folks who use a 1 x 10 or 2 x 10 with your 5 string notice a lack of low end? IIRC, an open B is around 30 hz.

I put a light gauge set of DR Black Beauties on the BBNE2 tonight. Impressive, balanced sound with a tight low B. I can see where some folks might find these grippy, but It’s not a problem for me. Plus, black strings on a black bass, ebony board, and gold hardware looks pretty slick.

I find it less useful on bass, where you use essentially the same patterns moving up, down or sideways depending on mode and root note. More important for wind and keyboard players who don’t have our advantage.

I never said or implied an equivalency…simply moving on with the OP’s original points. Mains upset a lot of country fans by (a) being hyper-critical of American policies while on a European tour and (b) talking about how stupid and unworthy of her talents and political views country fans were. Although probably not triggering for most liberals, many conservatives were not impressed, nor were country fans. preparing to hear the usual misrepresentations and droll comments regarding both groups mentioned above…

Had a bl who wouldn’t do Clapton songs. I’m currently playing with a really good start-up country band. We are doing Chicks songs. I really don’t agree with some of the statements Natalie Mains has made, but am very happy to enjoy and play their music. My line is almost no line. I strongly dislike the term “problematic” because of its place in the current cancel culture. I also really liked “Usual Suspects” and don’t think I can unlike it just because KS is “problematic “.

Okay, hear me out… I have just started working with a very good country/Americana band. My MPV. 5 with Elixers does okay, and is a real joy to play, but does not offer the tonal range of the Yamaha. However, for this group, rounds sound really out of character. Ideally, I want a traditional flatwound sound, but with a bright edge. I like a lighter B string….125 seems to be about right. I always appreciated the ability of a good active bass to make adjustments on the fly. Suggestion…given the parameters above?
