  1. Had an audition with some local folks. The existing band members are guitar, keyboards, and female singist. Drummer and myself auditioning. They gave us 3 songs, and didn’t really know any of them. We had an honest conversation where us new guys will attend a couple more rehearsals and reevaluate. The drummer, however. Is a top chap and a joy to play with.
  2. Thanks…it’s fun to take to country gigs…
  3. I’ll settle for something that glows like this…:)
  4. Spector 5’s tend on the slim side. My Peavey Dynabass 5 neck is very slim and narrow, but these are not common.
  5. I have the low tension flats on my fretless 5 and have also noticed intonation issues. Is there an issue with this type of string?
  6. Of course it is….it’s in German….:)
  7. Probably a bit lighter?
  8. How’s it sound?
  9. I’ve actually grown to love the tight string spacing…horses for courses
  10. If you can find one…you can’t have mine…..but very happy to let you try it when in my neck of the woods.
  11. Agree, but a plus for my Dyna is that it is a fso.
  12. I think so, and have used a fair number of boutique and production basses.Decent if old-school preamp, lovely thin neck, lightweight, and those amazing super ferrite pickups.
  13. I’ve been gigging a 5 string DynaBass from 1986. Except for a bit of neck dive, it’s an excellent instrument. I used to see quite a few Peaveys in the States, rarely here. Anybody own and/or gig with one?
  14. Which one is Virgil? Poor guy!:)
  15. I am finding it more and more uncomfortable to deal with posters who, despite the fact that this is supposed to be a bass site, feel the need to bring their extremist policies into the conversation. Is this something we want to continue?
  16. Return to Forever “Romantic Warrior”, Dixie Dregs “Night of the Living Dregs“, Atlanta Rhythm Section “Champagne Jam”.

Got a set of Elixer nanoweb nickels for Christmas and decided to swap them with the HB flats that were on my ‘87 Dynabass. Super impressed! I’ve had the same strings on my MVP for at least 5 years…love Elixers!
  18. I had a ‘63 that I gigged hard 1978-88…kick myself every day for letting it go. American vintage for the pickups…
  19. Gave a nice one to our drummer…he always uses it now
  20. Pub gig in Peterborough. Kind of the classic small pub gig…no parking close by….check, stuck at the end of an already small room….check, next the the ladies loo so you have to move out of the way…check, PA speaker on top of bass cabs…check, footie on even after we start…check, loud, social but uninterested crowd…check. Added plus to sit on the floor because no chairs are available during break…. played well though, and very pleasantly surprised with my sound through the elf.
  21. I don’t play slap style, but don’t doubt the validity of other’s experience. A great 24 fret bass is a lovely thing if it rings true all the way up. I play mostly country now, but still find creative uses for notes above the 12th fret.
  22. Just curious…what bugs you about 24 fret basses?
  23. Also Music Street in Huntingdon….top notch folks!
