  1. Dopesmoker - Sleep
  2. They're supporting Iron Maiden on this tour so after our local ex cow shed they're off to play arenas with tens of thousands of fans
  3. I've just been told I'm going to see Airborne. My dad is a fan, they're his favourite live band so he's got us tickets to see them when they're in town at the Cheese And Grain in Frome. It's pretty awesome to see such a big band at a small venue in a small town. It'll be at least the third time they've played there so I guess they like the venue. I've seen them before and they're an amazing live band, they really put everything in to their shows. I've seen a roadie wheeling the exhausted looking singer back to the bus on top of a flight case before!
  4. Stone the crow - Down
  5. It doesn't help that there's so many different pedals and then half of them seem to have a Russian version (for a good communist drive) and a geranium version (better for use in the garden). Plus they sound different with different basses and different amps. Then there's the satanic themed pedals, are there pedals for all religions? Do they work for atheists? At the moment I use a Two Notes Le Bass for a nice Ampeg style drive but I want something a bit more nasty for a truly disgusting doom metal sound.
  6. Is there any logic to choosing the right distortion pedals? I've tried watching videos on YouTube but then half of what you hear is their amp and instrument so when I get a pedal that sounded great in the video, I try it and can't get close to the sound I heard and liked. It's especially difficult to find the right fuzz.
  7. Snap your fingers, snap your neck - Prong
  8. Vagina Mine - Puscifer
  9. If they want you there during work hours and you all work then tell them they need to pay to cover the income you lose from your day jobs. It's additional to the service you originally quoted to provide so it seems reasonable to charge for it.
  10. Man in the box - Alice In Chains
  11. Juke Joint Jezebel - KMFDM
  12. Bloody hell that's a disgrace. I can fart with better timing and tone than that and it won't stink as bad. I find most slap annoying. Slap solos in particular. I know I can't say that here but it just sounds bloody awful to me.
  13. If you see the original band play the song live they'll rarely play it exactly as the record. I guess they would get bored reciting it exactly the same every night on a long tour so they have some fun with it. Why not do the same I a cover band?
  14. It's good value. I had to hold off last year but I've just put a bass up for sale to fund an AD200. I'll be in touch soon hopefully.
  15. Up the bracket - Libertines
  16. I forgot about that. Probably something about how James Jamerson did his stretches
  17. I wear a pink tuxedo and top hat. Is there anything more doom metal
  18. I can't watch Scott's bass lessons. Is it a 10 minute video with some jazz noodling, an explanation of his day so far and then in the final minute he tells you to never hold down the low end without stretching?
  19. Core strength is the way to go. Get your core muscles built up through gentle exercise and your back will be doing so much less work. Its made a huge difference to me in everything I do. Pilates may not seem like a very manly exercise but it really works well.
  20. Money - Pink Floyd
  21. My back is a bit of a mess after falling off a cliff (a bad day rock climbing). Pilates is seriously helpful. Building core strength really helps take the load off of your spine.
  22. Thanks for that. It seems odd then that Orange made them relatively recently.
  23. I started on Megalomaniac by Incubus this afternoon. A nice bit of funky heavy rock, great bass line and fun to play. I've got most of it worked out, just a section towards the end to learn now.
  24. I've had an Orange 2x12 isobar cab for a couple years now but never really understood the point of it. It's compact but heavy for a 2x12 and doesn't sound like a 2x12. What waste reason for the design?
  25. Even if you don't like his music, James Blunt is one of the most entertaining people on twitter. There are comedians who don't deal with hecklers as well as he does.
